K/R: Rag and Bone "bird poo" Pajama Jeans (ETA new pics)

After seeing so many fabbers rock these Rag and Bone pajama jeans,  I thought I'd give it a go. I normally wear a size S-M, 28-29 (27 in Gap). These are a S. Did I pick the right size? I thought they would be a lot slouchier than this, but going back over the other peoples' posts I realize that it wasn't as baggy looking as I thought. They are very soft and comfy--they are sweats printed to look like jeans, after all.

Oh, the funniest thing was I asked 6 year old DD what she thought of these pants, and she said, "They look kind of sketchy. They look like they have bird poo all over them" (because of the faded white spots and faux oil stains). LOL! Out of the mouths of babes!

Keep or return? Thanks!

ETA: Thanks everyone for your wise advice! I went ahead and went to the Intermix store to try on the medium size. They didn't have the same Miramar wash, but they had a different wash (Sheffield, which is darker, and a white
wash too). The medium seemed way too baggy for my taste, especially in
the rear view, so I am going to keep the small. I also liked the original wash the best. I really don't like that the Sheffield has the outline of a pack of cigarettes in the rear pocket. And the white wash one just looks like a dirty pair of stained sweats. So, sketchy bird poo it is! I took some pics of them pulled a little lower around my hips (sorry, didn't mean to do highwater style in the first pics! I guess I'm just used to having to hike waistbands above my apple belly!) and you all were right, I think it gives it just the right amount of slouch. And I'll make sure not to put it in the dryer, thanks for the tip! Looking forward to ripping the tags off!

ETAA: I also tried on the shorts version and love them. I found them on sale at Rag and Bone so I placed an order. I'm also going to try a size up on the shorts because while it's comfy in the S and I like how it looks, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be so form fitting. I don't usually like to have a big gap in the legs, but it looks a lot baggier on the catalog model.,

1-11. Miramar wash, size S
12-15. Sheffield wash, size M
16. Miramar white sweatpant, size M

17-19. Miramar shorts, size S

WIW 7/2: Formula 4S (Simple Sheath, Stunning Shoes)

I've been trying to declutter our house and simplify (not very successfully, but trying!). So I've also become more interested in outfits that pack a powerful punch without being too fussy or ALGO. I was inspired by my colleague at work, who always seems to look very sleek and polished. She repeats outfits often and wears somewhat of a uniform of simple sheath dresses, mostly black or grey or black and white. I notice that they seem to all have a little detail that makes them more interesting, like leather shoulder trim, or a zipper all the way down the front, or colorblocking. She also has a killer shoe collection, Prada and Louboutin etc, with high heels and peep toe booties etc. So I thought I'd try an outfit based on her formula 4S--simple sheath, stunning (or statement, or sexy) shoes. When I wore this I got lots of compliments on the color of the dress, and also the shoes. One colleague said, "Well, I didn't think it was possible, but you have finally outdone Dr. X on the shoes!" And one of the nurses recognized that they looked like Valentino Rockstuds.

Thanks as always for your comments!

Cynthia Steffe cobalt sheath dress (very similar to my poppy sheath dress with the asymmetric neckline)
Forever 21 studded bracelet
Burberry watch
Sam Edelman Ollies
MZ Wallace Tribeca tangerine purse
Theory Lanai blazer (I wore the blazer just in the morning to go to work because it was cold, but I'm not sure if it works--it's hard to find a topper for this dress!).

Shopping with the kidlets: More NAS finds round 2

You know I'm dedicated to fashion when I brave NAS with 3 kidlets in tow! I only had 45 minutes to shop before I had to take all three of them to swimming lessons (by myself, since DH is away), so I called in and asked the SA to pull all the items I was interested in and she was nice enough to get me a big dressing room. Thought you'd enjoy the funny pics of my shopping trip--not exactly a relaxing pampering experience! #4 about sums it up, LOL. Actually they were really good and let me try on everything and I made it out of there with all the items I linked below in time for their swimming lesson! I still have some stuff on order, so not all of this may stay once I have other things to compare. But I'm pretty happy with what I ended up coming home with...what do you think? K/R on everything, honest opinions welcomed!

1-4. My little shopping assistants.
5. The rack.
6. Rag and Bone grey racerback tank. Size M. Not 100% sure how useful this would be, but it's very soft and silky. Waiting to see how it looks with the R&B knit moto jacket.
7. Chelsea28 Black lace inset blouse and camis. Size S (forgot to take a pic of the S cami, the M cami in 11 was too big). I ended up buying both the cream floral and black floral camis, but may not keep the black floral cami if I keep the black blouse.
8-9. Equipment plaid sweater, size S. Diane von Furstenberg navy lace pencil skirt size 8. OMG I love this outfit. Can I justify keeping TWO lace pencil skirts?
10. Munro Abby black slingback bootie. I've been wanting a pair of black cage sandals or peep toe booties, but all the ones I can find have really high heels. This one is low enough that I can wear it all day at work, and really comfy. And on NAS sale! I know it's not as fashion forward as the high heel versions, but what do you think of it? Actually I sized up half a size from the ones in the pic (that one is 7.5 which is my usual size, but I went up to an 8 so my heel wouldn't hang off the edge)
11-13. Paige grey plaid skinny jeans. Had to size up to a 29. I've got another pair of teal plaid ones on order (Jolt) so I'll compare the two. And Halogen foiled sweatshirt, sized up to M. It was hard to concentrate on shopping when the kiddos were making such silly faces!
Thanks for looking and for your comments!

WIW 7/10 & 13 Softly edgy: Roses & thorns x2

This is kind of the direction I'm trying to explore style-wise: adding more edge while still retaining my polished ladylike style. I love adding some edge, but want to keep it soft--too much hard edge doesn't feel like me. Both outfits have feminine florals in a monochromatic grey with black accessories and silver studs. And I liked adding in a subtle theme of "roses and thorns" with the floral shirts and spiky bracelet. (DS1 calls it my "poky" bracelet). I wore the first outfit for work and the second for MOTG. And both days I ended up at Nordstrom to shop NAS! Thanks for looking and commenting!

1-4. H&M grey floral blouse
black cami
Halogen leather pencil skirt
White House Black Market pointy black flats (I would have worn my black studded Ollies, but felt that might be a little too much edge and I also was on call at the hospital so I wanted to stick with flats).
Michael Kors black studded satchel
Stella and Dot Renegade silver spiky bracelet

5-11. Allsaints Flora Mortis tee
Kut Diana white skinny jeans (they're a little too loose and long so I would like to replace these at some point with some cropped white ankle skinnies)
MK black studded satchel
S&D bracelet
Sam Edelman Berkeley black studded gladiator sandals (love the matchy matchy studs with the purse)
Karl Lagerfield black pyramid stud watch

WIW 7/9 for my 41st birthday!

I've been super busy the last week on call at the hospital. It's been brutal--I was on for July 4th and had to go in to the hospital in the middle of the night for emergency procedures three nights in a row. Lots of steak and chicken getting stuck from July 4th BBQs! Between the emergency cases at night, DS2 still waking up at least 3x/night, plus getting called at 1 & 3 am two nights in a row by a security system false alarm that triggered at our neighbor's house (apparently they listed us as an emergency contact), plus super busy days at the hospital, I was exhausted and running on fumes! My call week is finally done (whew!), but DH left today on a 10 day diving trip to Alaska. So I'm going to be taking care of the 3 kids by myself this coming week. All I want for my birthday is some sleep!

It was kind of a bummer being on call and working all day on my birthday, but I got a nice card from all the office staff, and lots of birthday wishes on my Facebook, and when I got home DH had flowers and a Kate Spade gift certificate for me and had made dinner and a special chocolate cake for me (non-dairy, non-soy, non-egg because of DS2's allergies that I have to avoid while nursing). And DD and DS1 made cards for me, and DD gave me a bracelet that she made and a quarter to buy "something fancy". So cute! I'm so lucky to have family and friends surrounding me!

I wore a simple but dressy poppy-colored sheath dress. Fun to get a little dressed up for my birthday even if I was just at work. With some turquoise accents, and nude sandals to show off my orange toenails to match my dress (just got my first pedicure recently, and the shade is Opi A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find). Actually to tell you the truth, I picked the dress to wear because it matched my toes! The outfit kind of reminds me of Angie's 40th birthday sheath dress outfit, which is so fun because we are birthday twins! Happy Birthday Angie! Thanks for making this such a fun place to hang out!

Cole Haan turquoise satchel

WIW 7/4: RWB for Independence Day at work and...work

Well, I didn't do anything fun today because I was on call and working at the hospital. But I still tried to get in the spirit and dressing in holiday colors! Didn't get to take the kids anywhere today, but at least I dressed them in red, white and blue PJs for bedtime. They're still kind of young to stay up for fireworks anyways. Maybe next year! Then just as I was planning to go to bed, I got a page that I had to go in to the hospital to do a procedure on someone who had gotten some steak in stuck in his throat. So I had to go in at 1 am to dislodge the meat (I figured there was a pretty high chance I'd have to go in, given all the barbeques for July 4! Thanksgiving is another risky holiday to be on call). I just threw on an outfit, but still kept with the color theme, inspired by Angie's Ultra Causal Blue and White post. I bought this sweater on sale at the Gap, but they forgot to take the magnetic anti-theft tag off, so I had to bring it back in. They gave me an additional discount because I had to come back in, so I ended up getting the sweater for $12! Not bad! I also got a couple of new bikinis from Tommy Bahama, and got a sale price adjustment for those.

White House Black Market red cardigan
Anne Fontaine white blouse
Kate Spade red specs necklace
Banana Republic navy and white polka dot pencil skirt
DSW red pumps
Kate Spade typewriter bag
Burberry watch

Gap crochet sweater
Tommy Bahama blue tank
Gap distressed jeans
Red Converse
Red white and blue Rainbow Loom bracelet from DD
Silver/gold hearts necklace
Ms. Scarlet
Burberry watch

PS My birthday's coming up soon, and I have been obsessing about a certain pair of pants popular on this forum. I couldn't find it on sale anywhere though! Finally I found a 15% off discount code by signing up for Intermix emails and another 4% with Mr. Rebates. So a certain pair of loungewear that is named after another type of loungewear but tries not to look like loungewear is headed my way....I can't wait!
