Caught the MZ Wallace bug

Hi, sorry I've been sort of MIA the last month or so. As you know I have worn the heck out this MZ Wallace tangerine Tribeca ever since I got it a couple of years ago--orange is definitely a neutral for me! This summer I went to a girls' weekend where three out of the six of us were carrying MZ Wallace bags. I got sucked into an MZ Wallace Facebook group that the others belong to, and before I knew it I had become obsessed and had developed a whole MZ Wallace collection! I picked up the MZ Wallace Dawn small Nikki at NAS, and then the Pixel print small Sutton at the MZ Wallace pop-up store in SF (I got a 15% off introductory coupon). I also had to have the hedgehog charm and coin purse to add to my hedgehog collection including my Kate Spade cross body (#4). I love this pattern because it kind of reminds me of a galaxy print. Normally I try to stick to solids for my bags since I wear so many prints, but this one seems to work quite well with a lot of colors from blue to pink to purple to burgundy to grey. Outfit in 9-13 is one of my work-to-MOTG transition outfits. I also got several used bags from the MZW group (they have an active buy-sell-trade thread), and can show you more WIWs with the other bags if you like. I don't see much posted about this brand on here, except for Diana who seems to like them--anyone else an MZW fan? I've been posting on the FB group, but notice that there everyone seems to post just pics of their purses on their car seat (like #5). I feel like a bit of an oddball posting my outfit shots there, but I feel like I always want to see the purse in context with the outfit! I guess I'm just used to YLF style WIWs!

I have a collection of MZW bags. I think I have 5 of them. My favorite local shoe boutique carries them. (Are you surprised I would be a fan?!)

Always nice to catch up with you GoldenPig. These WIWs are fabulous.

I don't know much about MZ Wallace but I love hedgehogs. I was so disappointed not to have a little person to buy these Boden lovelies for: <http://clothing.bodenusa.com/clothing/Hedgehog>

Hi! Good to see you! As you know, I love these bags. I think they're really well designed and well made ; although I know the many pockets are a selling point for many people I have to admit I never use them... But I like the look. ;). I have a tote, a crossbody, and a hobo. I've been thinking about getting a satchel of some sort too (belle or Georgie are tops on my list bc I think I can get my laptop in them). How do you like the quilted bags? I think they might be a little too sporty/casual for me but sometimes I think one would be useful. I love the print on yours
and it goes so well with your outfits. :)

I really like the galaxy print.

I've been thinking about getting a new bag and these look perfect. Too bad I wasn't around for the NAS sale because I think the "Nikki" would be my choice.

These look great. I'm extra partial to the cute coin purse.

I love the way both jean outfits look on you, and also really like the blue sweater with your skirt.

I like your outfits and purses. Thanks for showing how the print bag works with the other prints-I wouldn't have thought that it would, so it expands my choices.

    Thanks everyone!

Staysfit, I admire your taste in handbags so no surprise that you'd be a MZW fan! Which ones do you have? I think we both got the Dawn small Nikki at NAS?
    Thanks Sterling!
Ummlila, those hedgehog clothes are adorable! Wish they came in adult sizes too!
Diana, I love the teal Chelsea! That's your signature color and the bag is gorgeous! Which hobo one do you have? I have a Belle and it can definitely fit my laptop. Another one you could look at that fits a laptop is the large Roxy--a little more streamlined look and the flat straps are comfy. I have the black Belle with the gold hardware and the black mineral large Roxy with silver hardware and at first I thought I couldn't justify having both, but they look totally different. They have a marcasite large Roxy which is grey with purple lining. https://www.mzwallace.com/shop.....te-bedford
I'd be tempted by that if I didn't already have a black one. I like the oxford but it's definitely much more casual than the bedford nylon. And oxford has a few quirks. Like when I clip the sides down on the small Sutton, I can't use the cross body strap. And I tried on the metro tote but the straps keep falling off my shoulder so I passed. I do have my eye on a blue camo oxford backpack that hasn't been released yet.
Thanks Shedev! It's actually not a galaxy print--just "pixels" but it does look like a galaxy to me!
Bonnie, there is a small Nikki (which I got at NAS) and regular Nikki which is larger (that one was not part of NAS). The small Nikki will fit a laptop just barely (a 13 inch without a padded case), but the regular Nikki will be bigger. I had ordered a regular Nikki, but returned it because it felt too boxy to me and I like the two external pockets on the front of the large Roxy and Belle rather than the single external pocket of the Nikki. But I love my small Nikki and that style has three strap options--worth a try!
Thanks delurked! I'm a sucker for cute accessories!
Barbara Diane, mixing print bags with print clothes works but it's a little tricky to make sure the colors harmonize!

Very fun. I'm not looking TOO hard because I don't want to fall into a black hole of obsession but the digital print is truly fab!

  • goldenpig replied 7 years ago

    Oh Una...just sayin'... ;)

It's sways a joy to see your bags and how you wear you them.

I have to say I don't really understand MZ Wallace's popularity. I guess it is lightweight and functional. Looks good for a nylon bag. Heck I may even buy one for commute to work. But why do people love it so much?

  • Diana replied 7 years ago

My hobo is called Zoe, but it is a long-discontinued style.  It was the first one I bought (I think I got it around 5 years ago.)  Mine is olive with gold trim.

Thanks for all the info!  I'm glad to hear that Belle fits a laptop easily.

Catseye, I like MZ Wallace bags because, as you say, they are lightweight and functional while still looking nice.  Especially for a big tote, I really prefer nylon for weight reasons.  They are also very well-made and well-designed (most of their styles have full zipper closure, feet, multiple pockets (which I don't use but lots of people love), and often multiple strap options. Compared to a Longchamp Le Pliage (which I also have and use often) I would say my Chelsea tote costs twice as much (retail, but I got mine on sale so it was basically the same price as a Pliage) but lasts much longer and looks dressier.

Your MZ Wallace looks are fabulous. You put together Killer looks with the new moody patterned bag. Perfect!

  • Momo replied 7 years ago

    Yes! I love MZ Wallace
    Love yours particularly the print
    Here is my collection :-)

  • Tanya replied 7 years ago

Fun outfits as always, my favorite is #9. You have the best accessories, and I really like the patterned quilted bag.

  • replied 7 years ago

The bag charms stole the show for me. Really like the pixilated bag too, though.

  • stainedglass replied 7 years ago

I have a large collection of MZ Wallace: a navy Belle, a print Chelsea, two Hayleys (not shown) and two smaller bags.  I like the material and the many, many pockets.  They're also stain proof; I dumped a large amount of coffee on my Belle while travelling once and it just wiped off.

I am not a member of the club, but I do admire the bags I've seen Diana and you sport here on YLF! I really like that new quilted one. The indistinct pattern and coloring are right up my alley! Your outfits with your bags are great. I especially love 2; you look like a movie star ready to travel--understated chic, cool, and casual.

Your observation about the Facebook group's idea of bag photos and your idea of a good photo is so funny. The bag on a car seat--I had a good laugh at that one! Although I have to admit, my bag does always ride in the passenger seat, unless I have a live passenger there. In which case, the bag is relegated to the back seat.

The 3 strap options is a big plus for me, so the small Nikki sounds like the best choice. I won't be carrying my laptop, but need room for an epi pen and other meds for my asthma and this looks like a good size for this. I would use the external pockets for glasses and keys which I am always fumbling for in my current bags.
