Gah! Kate Spade red patent Mary Janes! Talk me in or out!

I've been looking for a pair of bright red pumps to go with Ms. Scarlet. I really want these Kate Spades! Right up my style alley! But they're 3 1/2 inches! These are probably too high of a heel, right?
I also found these Cole Haans. #2 is 2 3/4 inch with a 1/2 inch platform. #3 is probably a more practical height  (2 inches) but I'm worried it will be too dark of a color. And they don't excite me like #1 (ooh, gold heel and studded buckle!), but they would probably be much more comfortable. And they're cheaper.
Should I go for any of these, or keep looking? Any other suggestions? I prefer closed toed, a strap is nice too.

Those are way too high for your everyday life, girl!  You do so much MOTG/patient/school/play activity in a day, I can't see how these would be practical.  But they are quite yummy for your style. :)  It's the contrast strap that makes them special, to my eye, so unless you are in the market for red pumps, I wouldn't just get any old substitute.

Joining you in adoring the Kate Spade. Since alaskagirl knows these would be closet jewelry for you instead of workhorses, we'll have a moment of sadness. Hold out for exciting workhorses, though!

Listen to Una!  Too tall!  These look really similar in shape and height to the blue snake pumps that are too tall.

Too tall, but wonderful! I think #3 are worth investigating, though.

I know, you guys are right... (pouts). ;)
I may give Angie's pick loafers a try. But it's just not the same...
I wear my pointy WHBM black flats a lot. But would these be too masculine for me?

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

Refined and feminine. Since they are red, you know I will approve :)

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

Yah, they didn't go so great with Ms. Scarlet anyways.

The flats should be fab. Not heels of course, but your post on your schedule made me want to lie down and take a nap, so I think you need more flats. Or red roller skates.

I like #1.  If they are otherwise comfortable, your shoe guy can take them down about half an inch.  I routinely do this to my shoes.

  • AviaMariah replied 10 years ago

I have a board on pinterest of shoes just like these - ones that are way too impractical for me but so much fun to look at.  I figure it's cheaper than having them in my closet to look at.  :)

If those flats are masculine, call me Mister. They're wonderful. In every way. For me. But if you're not excited, hold out. That shopping finger is twitchy, isn't it? You want that hole filled now? I know the feeling.

I can never resist a Kate Spade anything!

The two-tone chunky heel is great.  Although not as adorable as the mary jane style,  have you seen these that might be more comfortable?

It only took one glance for me to pick out #1 as very much you! That heel is a bit high though. Can you try them on at least?

I like those flats -- I don't think they look too masculine for you at all.

  • Beth replied 10 years ago

They look very like you, Natalie. Love them! But I'm afraid your feet wouldn't be happy for long.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I absolutely adore #1, but for everyday wear the heel would be a deal breaker for me - too high. Perfect for special occasions, though. #2 is also fab, I tried a similar one last spring in nude but the fit wasn't right. Maybe give #3 a go - they're pretty and practical for everyday, and a bit dressier than flats.

Well we don't want to repeat the WHBM blue pump thing where they end up being too high to wear.

But IK is making me raise my eyebrows with interest...

  • ironkurtin replied 10 years ago

I'm picking up a pair this AM that got a heel trim.  It makes a big difference.

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Dana, how much shorter can he trim the heel? Maybe I should try that with my blue snake pumps.
Christina, thanks for the links. I saw those KS Simon pumps came in blue, but sold out by the time I came across them, sigh.
I ordered the red loafers and will try them out.
