K/R: Rag and Bone "bird poo" Pajama Jeans (ETA new pics)

After seeing so many fabbers rock these Rag and Bone pajama jeans,  I thought I'd give it a go. I normally wear a size S-M, 28-29 (27 in Gap). These are a S. Did I pick the right size? I thought they would be a lot slouchier than this, but going back over the other peoples' posts I realize that it wasn't as baggy looking as I thought. They are very soft and comfy--they are sweats printed to look like jeans, after all.

Oh, the funniest thing was I asked 6 year old DD what she thought of these pants, and she said, "They look kind of sketchy. They look like they have bird poo all over them" (because of the faded white spots and faux oil stains). LOL! Out of the mouths of babes!

Keep or return? Thanks!

ETA: Thanks everyone for your wise advice! I went ahead and went to the Intermix store to try on the medium size. They didn't have the same Miramar wash, but they had a different wash (Sheffield, which is darker, and a white
wash too). The medium seemed way too baggy for my taste, especially in
the rear view, so I am going to keep the small. I also liked the original wash the best. I really don't like that the Sheffield has the outline of a pack of cigarettes in the rear pocket. And the white wash one just looks like a dirty pair of stained sweats. So, sketchy bird poo it is! I took some pics of them pulled a little lower around my hips (sorry, didn't mean to do highwater style in the first pics! I guess I'm just used to having to hike waistbands above my apple belly!) and you all were right, I think it gives it just the right amount of slouch. And I'll make sure not to put it in the dryer, thanks for the tip! Looking forward to ripping the tags off!

ETAA: I also tried on the shorts version and love them. I found them on sale at Rag and Bone so I placed an order. I'm also going to try a size up on the shorts because while it's comfy in the S and I like how it looks, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be so form fitting. I don't usually like to have a big gap in the legs, but it looks a lot baggier on the catalog model.,

1-11. Miramar wash, size S
12-15. Sheffield wash, size M
16. Miramar white sweatpant, size M

17-19. Miramar shorts, size S

They look very comfy and the sizing looks very relaxed to me. Did you want them even baggier?

LOL at your daughter's comment, but honestly I don't see that at all.

  • karymk replied 9 years ago

I like this size! I think Leopard luxe has these and said she went a size down though...I could be wrong but it rings a bell.

I am crackin up about your DDs comment.  Yes they say the darndest things!!
I skipped a day of shaving once and my horrified then five-year-old says, "Mom! Do those splinters under your armpit hurt??"

  • ironkurtin replied 9 years ago

I think the fit is really cute. But I will never be able to see them now without thinking bird poo.

  • Aubergine replied 9 years ago

I think they look great and like they're the right size. Completely cracked up at the bird poo -- she does have a point.

Also really like the lobster tee and the sandals.

  • JenA replied 9 years ago

I think these look great on you. I was told by the sales person at R&B that they stretch out with wear (I haven't found that to be true since mine are slouchy to start) but will "shrink" back with the wash. I took that to mean, do NOT dry them on hot.

FWIW, I LOVE my pajama jeans, bird poo and all!  ;)

    Enjoy.

They look good if you don't want the extra slouch! I am also 28-29 and got the medium for extra slouchiness :) Love my sketchy bird poo jeans -- the things kids say :)

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

I think this size looks good, bird poo and all ;)

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

I like the look on you; to me, the amount of slouch is just right. Your daughter's description may be indelibly etched on my brain now.

  • replied 9 years ago

They look great! Exactly like real BF jeans. You could try a size up as long as you wouldn't have to keep hiking them up (I don't think belting is an option here)! :D

  • Marley replied 9 years ago

I think it all depends on how you want them to fit.  I wear a size 24 - 26 regular jean - and I got these in a Small.  I really like mine slouchier than yours - but, it doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with your fit!  Can you wear them just a little bit lower on your hips?  To me, in pic 7, they look like they are pulled  up just a little bit too high on your waist.

  • AJ replied 9 years ago

I'm going to go against the grain and say return. They just don't seem to fit your feminine refined style. Plus, I can't get bird poo out of my head. :)

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

Bird poo?? Lol! Kids are too funny!

I like this on you Nat, but I think I want to see a size up (especially after seeing the back view, but it could be the way you are standing). I think Una's and Denise's fit a lot more slouchier. Do you think the size up would fall off your waist?

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Love the jeans and they look great but I think you need to see if you can wear them lower on your hip or size up.  The fit as per these photos is just not quite right to my eye.

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

I think we are the same size? I got the S and it does look slouchier on me. I wear mine very hip-slung and I have negative booty which may be the difference. Try scooching them down a bit!

They do stretch a bit but do not dry them! I wash them inside out cold and hand dry. That shrinks them but then they stretch back out.

  • viva replied 9 years ago

My favorite part of your daughter's comment is that they look "sketchy"!!! She is too funny -- such a savvy little one.

I like them on you but think Una has  good suggestion about pulling them down a little for some slouch. (Alas, I am very pro-slouch.)

  • MRL replied 9 years ago

I had to read a post that read "bird poo" :)

Seriously, they look very good on you.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

I think these look really good on you Natalie but agree about maybe pulling them down just a bit. Here's the question though - will you wear these since they are a wee bit out of your regular style?

    Lol "bird poo"!

  • shedev replied 9 years ago

My first thought was that I am glad I don't have the bird poo ones, except that I do. Too funny. There is a newer wash that is a little darker that is not quite as distressed.

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

I like them. Besides, how can you not keep and wear and love "bird poo" pajama jeans. I mean, there's an instant conversation starter there for ya ;)

  • goldenpig replied 9 years ago

ETA: Update in original post! I'm keeping the size small in the sketchy bird poo wash! :)

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

I think you made the right choice. Just wear them like a boy!

Is it a cig pack or a wallet? I love the Sheffield wash because it looks like vintage Levi's...

  • Marley replied 9 years ago

Its funny how everyone's tolerance for 'slouchy' is different, isn't it?  I really like the fit of the Sheffields on you best - but, the Maramar's in size S look fine - just not as slouchy as I would want to wear my own (and we're talking about you here, not me - right? ;-0  The pics where you have pulled them down onto your hips is the way that I think they look the best!
Also - I had the same thought as Una when I saw the outline in the back pocket of the Sheffields - I assumed it was a wallet - until you said pack of cigs!  Hm m m  . . .  - just like you, I would not wear them if it truly was the outline of cigarettes!

  • goldenpig replied 9 years ago

Una and Marley...oh, it's a wallet! *smacks forehead*
I just assumed it was cigarettes because of the rectangular shape...but I guess you wouldn't really want to sit on your cigarettes, would you?
Marley, that's interesting that you think the M looks better. I've come a long way but I guess my eye still hasn't completely adjusted to slouchy. You have to realize that "fitted" and "bombshell" were part of my style mantra! I think the rear view is what turned me off...I don't know what happened to my butt in #15 but it looks really droopy and nonexistent!
Una, I thought I would like the Sheffield wash better too, but surprisingly I preferred the lighter Miramar. I think the Sheffield doesn't look quite *as special* in the detailing.
Oh and I just realized that I didn't check the size chart when I ordered it...the R&B website says that 26-27 is a S and 28-29 is a M so maybe I really am supposed to be a M. My thought process went, "Rae has an XS and Una has a S so I must be a S." Hahaha! I trust the YLF fit models more than the online size chart!

  • replied 9 years ago

The bird poo comment is too funny!  You look really cute!

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Fun! I have these and can attest to the fact that the butt totally stretches out with wear, but comes right back with a wash and hang dry.

OMG i never even noticed an outline on the back pocket....running upstairs to have a look at mine...must be a wallet ;)

  • goldenpig replied 9 years ago

Thanks Alicat and Jackie! Jackie, not to worry, the rear pocket wallet is on the new Sheffield wash. Ours don't have that...

  • JAileen replied 9 years ago

I have a pair of the Rag & Bone Miramars. I just laughed and laughed when I got them. Because they're funny, that's why. My twenty something son thought they were awful. Too bad. And who's he to talk? You should see how he dresses!

BTW, I haven't been able to wear them much. Almost as soon as I got them it turned blisteringly hot here (105F the day before yesterday).

  • cciele replied 9 years ago

Heh, Marley, you and I have a similar eye. The fit of the Sheffields is how my Miramars fit me (well, no surprise since it's a size M/28-29), and my preference also. Thanks for modeling the Sheffields -- I can see why you like the Miramar wash better. The wallet is kinda weird in the Sheffields.

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

Just to clarify, I would prefer the slouchier fit for me! But I think these are the right amount of slouch for you, pulled down. :)
