Pics from OC/SoCal swap 7/14 (including bag and shoe shots)!

Here are my pics from my first YLF clothing swap! MaryK is the only fabber I've met so far, so I was super excited to meet all the YLF ladies! Vicki's house is so beautiful and she was a gracious hostess, it was so nice to meet her family too. When I got there and went in, much squee-ing and lots of hugging ensued. Same with when Rae and Denise (Cocolion) showed up after me too! We chatted and had a delicious lunch, and then got down to the serious business. The living room was set up with racks of clothes, just like a store! Everyone started trying on clothes and critiquing each other ("Does this look too boobalicious on me?" was a typical question). And sometimes something would look OK but not quite right on someone so she would pass it onto someone else and it would fit perfectly. We all ooohed and aaahed when a garment found its way to the new rightful owner. What a neat experience to see our closet orphans find new life and look so perfect on someone else! And all of us took home fab new clothes ourselves! We even got a new shopping bag and some nail polish thanks to Vicki. We also munched on a pretty fruit arrangement sent by Lina and loved the notes that Claire pinned to the clothes she sent (we were all bummed that they couldn't come). At the end we did the obligate bag and shoe shot--can you guess the owners?

What a wonderful get-together--I am so lucky I got to be a part of it and meet all my wonderful YLF sisters! Thanks again Vicki for being such a gracious host. Denise and I are already plotting to have a Bay Area get-together this fall!

Attendees (pic 5): Jennifer, Denise, Vicki, Marley, MaryK, Eva, Natalie, Rae

SO FUN!!! I'm having fun re-living it by looking at the photos! And so fun to see Vicki rocking my plaid skirt and Rae looking super amazing in the green camo print silk Escada shirt from NYC that turned out to be a little too low-cut on me!!

What a great write up Natalie and thank you so much for sharing your photos. Once again, I'm envious of you all being able to get together!

Vicki - your home looks positively beautiful and how gracious and sweet of you to host the first YLF clothing swap.

Looks like some lovely looking pieces there! Looking forward to see you all model your new goodies!

I love reading about YLF swaps and catch ups. Great photos & looks like you all got some great stuff.

Vicki your house looks beautiful and I love the apple wreath & the fruit centre piece on the table - you are the hostess with the mostest.

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

OH!! SO FUN!! How beautiful. The joy jumps off the page!! Special hugs for my friend, Eva. Thanks for being so hospitable to my gal :)

Natalie, you look absolutely stunning in your white jeans and Trina Turk blouse. Vicky, you are sensational in that shirt in #14 and radiant in blue! Rae, you are adorable in that frock in #7. Mary, loving that teal frock in #15!

I'll have a go at the bags:

    Fringe clutch - Denise

    Doggie Bag - Eva

    Animal print - Mary

    Black hairy bag - Rae

    Yellow bag - Natalie

Don't recognize Vicki, Jennifer's and Marley's bags here. How did I do so far?

Vicki, I vote you Queen Hostess! :)

Such a delicious wreath and centerpiece, and so much fun to see the try-outs! How on earth did you manage that dress twins photo?! And please tell the owner I'm doting on their 'doggie bag'!

What a perfect afternoon. I looked at each and every picture with a big smile on my face. Everyone looked so radiant. Vicki, your house is beautiful and what an amazing hostess you are.

I love MaryK's "I mean business" face in #6. As you gals know, she is not a force to be reckoned with when in "finding gems" mode.

I am glad you all enjoyed my little treat!

Thank you so much Natalie for sharing these pictures with us. Hopefully we can meet sometime soon!

What a great write-up! I feel like I was *almost* there. It's so great to see the pictures of you all having such a good time. I know Vicki's hospitality is worth writing home about, and how nice of Zap to send that gorgeous, yummy fruit arrangement!

The clothes you are trying on here look SO nice, and I can't wait to see what each of you scored. I consoled myself by shopping Goodwill's 50% off sale, and I found some goodies too, so it all worked out. But I missed you all so much! We *must* reconvene in October!

I just have to chime in and say that it truly was a wonderful day! I really canNOT get over the immediate connection, kindness, and fun that YLFers have when they come together! I'd like to say that it's magic - but I know that it is more likely to be a reflection of Angie and Greg's personality and influence on everyone who comes into any kind of contact (even "cyber") with them!

My swapping experience was extremely successful. As many of you know, I have been on SYC for a little over 1 1/2 years now. In the beginning it was quite easy for me, as I had many clothes and I really enjoyed wearing them in new and different ways. However, once the 2nd season for the same clothes rolled around, many of them felt "tired", even though they may not have been in reality - I was tired of them! The kind of depressing thing about it is that I don't see any end in sight for my SYC! I'm still broke and to be honest, most of the time, my wardrobe is the LAST thing that I am concerned about when we are trying to figure out how to pay our bills!

So, yesterday was a real treat for me. I scored - and I scored BIG! Here's just a partial list of some of the things I brought home with me: Denise's Karen Kane black assymetrical hem dress - LOVE it! An A.T. sheath dress - white background with watercolor looking pink/red flowers, GAP leather pencil skirt, a bluish green pencil skirt (thank you Rae) that has teeny tiny horizontal gathers, a blue cobalt jersey fitted jacket (still has tags on it!), the "triplet" dress - thank you Natalie! a gorgeous navy blue Tahari long suit jacket and skirt with small pleats along the bottom, an A.T. animal print long-sleeved blouse - yes, AJ, I finally got my animal print blouse! a "modish" black jacket with big round buttons, a long denim (I mean midi length) jacket with fur collar, a pink Coach bag, a . . . well, do you get the picture! It was like Christmas and my B-Day all rolled into one!

The best part of it all was spending time with the women of YLF - Vicki, yes the perfect hostess, MaryK, Denise, Rae - and Eva, Natalie and Jennifer - who I met for the first time yesterday. I came home on a "high" that I still have not come down from! A huge smile is still plastered on my face - I hope that you can all feel it while you are reading this! Thank you everyone!

Oh man. I am dying to make a ylf meet-up soon. This looks like so much fun. I think this might be the best assortment of clothes I've ever seen at a clothing swap, but I know that meeting the ladies was the best part by far.

  • Alecia replied 11 years ago

And Christieanne, yes please on the norcal event.

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

Thanks for posting the pictures Natalie! I had so much fun.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

You all are so fantastically lovely, and Natalie, you're just a shining spirit. Thank you for posting these photos!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Ah, it is brightening my morning just reliving the event! I always have the most fun and productive days with the YLF crew. I never would have tried on that cream dress if I'd been on my own in the store. It has a ghost of a stain on the front of the skirt, but I'm determined to work some kind of magic on it.

I got to model everything for DH yesterday, and he commented that he likes a much higher percentage of my haul than he usually does with my regular swap meet hauls - the magic of mirrors and 11 sets of YLF eyes!

Many thanks to each and every person who came - Claire, I am not the only one who thought of Skyping you in! Gorgeous, amazing day.

  • Jem replied 11 years ago

Wow, thanks for the great pictures! (And fantastic report of all of the fun). You all look gorgeous and you can tell you are having a great time.

  • HelenInCanada replied 11 years ago
