SCARF CHALLENGE DAY 1: Post your looks here!

Sorry that the dress challenge and scarf challenge are running concurrently, but feel free to contribute whenever you'd like--if you want to post your scarf looks next week that's fine too! Or you can combine and wear dresses and scarves!

Here's the background thread:

and if you want to do belts, necklaces, etc instead feel free to substitute! It's all for fun!

Here's my day 1 look. I wore a Kate Spade floral scarf with a red dress. Not sure if this works or not--I am very inexperienced with scarves so suggestions welcome! I did a double European loop--not sure what this scarf tie is called. Can't close my coat over the scarf but I would if I could. We'll see if I can stand wearing the scarf around my neck all day...do you guys take the scarf off at work or keep wearing it inside? I'm worried that if I take it off, the outfit will be too plain (no patterns) and won't feel like "me" anymore.

Natalie I've decided to do about 3 scarf looks and 3 dress looks over the week so watch this space! I think your dress and scarf are wonderful. What a beautiful vibrant red! Love how you tied the scarf.

Here's mine! This is a gauzy bandanna print scarf that I always have had trouble styling. I tied it to make a faux infinity and wore it as a cowl. I picked it to tie in my specs and the grey/black of my boots.

Completely by coincidence I am wearing both a scarf and a dress today! The scarf is handknit and is one of my favorites.

See the second photo. I'm linking as I can't add photos from the iphone here. I used a man's tie for a scarf and would love to know if you think it works for this outfit.

Goldenpig - I wear my scarves all day. My office is cold and I like the warmth, especially since I cut my hair and my neck is bare now.

    I love everyone's scarf outfits!

Here is my outfit with a new thrifted scarf. This is my first time wearing it (and the green shirt). I cut the tag off as soon as I saw this pic.

Here's mine! And I slipped in a little pattern mixing too :)

I'm a double dipper for the challenge today, just like Una! I wear long rectangular scarves pretty regularly, so I upped the challenge for myself and I'm going to try to wear my lovely silk scarves this week. Here's a favorite of mine, a bird scarf that I got long ago on my honeymoon. I've always wanted to wear a scarf as a cummerbund under a belt, ever since I saw it in a Hermes catalog. Today it seemed to work. What do you think?

  • lyn* replied 11 years ago

I double dipped today too :)

You wear your scarf like a pro. I would never have guessed that under used scarves were an issue. I love the color and the balls hanging off the edge. Super cute and a lovely color palette.

Natalie, your scarf is such a fun and happy colour. Here is my day one with scarf challenge. I wear my scarves fairly often and keep them on even at work. They are an important accessory of my outfits and not just for warmth. I got this ivory gauzy scarf from PA last month and today was its first outing. I like my scarves hanging rather than wrapped around my neck as I find this way they flow along with my hair and I quite like the effect.

    Lovely outfits, everyone!

Natalie, when I wear a scarf (often, in fall/ winter) I almost always leave it on all day; it is part of my outfit the way a necklace would be. Of course if I get super hot I might remove it. Or, contrariwise, I might bring one along in my bag (if not wearing) just in case of a cool draft.

What a fantastic post. Great ideas!

All these lovely winter outfits with scarves almost make me wish it wasn't summer here - ahh who am I kidding I love summer as much as I love everyone's fab looks.

Thanks so much for posting all your outfits!

I did manage to wear the scarf all day. It felt more like a complete outfit with the scarf on.

Diane, can't wait to see your scarf outfits!

Ceit, I love how you made an infinity scarf out of it--I'll have to try that! Love the blue sweater on you. Are those the same boots that Una has on today?

Diana, amazing handknit scarf--you are so talented! And cute beret too!

Joy, I think the men's tie as scarf idea is great! Very cute with the sweater dress and white shirt!

Sara L, cute scarf! Love the matching teal sweater and tights too. Your hair looks great!

Sarah A, love the polka dot shirt and pattern mixing with the scarf!

Charmian, polka dots and stripes are a great pattern mixing combo!

Una, ooh la la! Tres chic!

K can shop, I love the idea of putting the scarf behind the belt--never thought of that before but it looks so polished! Love the bird print and the patterned dress and the ink blue cardigan that matches the skirt. YLF!

Lyn, love your red polka dot scarf--so cute!

Thanks for the compliment Day Vies!

Mona, that white scarf is gorgeous on you! Great idea to let the scarf hang loosely--I sometimes feel a little claustrophobic with a scarf wrapped around my neck.

Suz, great advice. Would love to see a link to some of your favorite scarf WIW's!

    Thanks fathenry! (Cute name!)

Kiwichick--feel free to post outfits from last winter! Or wear a scarf as a headband for summer!

Hi Natalie, thanks! -- no, I really did want a pair of Gidigios like Una and Rae but they are not available in my size in Canada. So, this was a pair of Docs I found that have a similar vibe, and I love them. Not as good quality as the Gidigios, but still make me happy :)
