S/O lemming wear: Statement pieces--what are your unique signature items?

S/O of Una's lemming wear thread:
What are the statement items you own, which as far as you know, no other YLF'er has (yet!) and are a signature part of your style? Like if someone were to see that item they'd instantly think of you? Can't wait to see what you come up with--I'll be nodding my head in agreement and saying that's so you! And feel free to pipe up if you do have any of these items--I love discovering YLF twins!

Coats, shoes/boots, purses or patterned items tend to be the most memorable statement items. Mostly copied these pics from my style (r)evolution thread, so apologies for the repeats!
1. Ms. Scarlet--Chanel red French Riviera purse
2. Aquatalia Vavoom burgundy patent zipper rain boots
2-3. Kate Spade Melissa black ruffle trench and Jillian black and white polka dot dress
4-5. Kate Spade Japanese floral print--I know some of you have the trench or the dress, but I don't think anyone has as many pieces as me (sheath dress, trench liner, satchel, sneakers, iPad and laptop cases) or is wearing three or more pieces at the same time, haha! ;)
6. Alberto Makali peacock print tunic
7. Kate Spade turquoise Shelley pumps (I think some of you got the cobalt), Kate Spade turquoise High Line Leica clutch and Anthro Liquid Acres skirt
8. Tory Burch cobalt and rust skirt and Chie Mihara rust sandals
9. Kate Spade orange slice purse
10. Betsey Johnson burgundy quilted hearts satchel
11. Banana Republic Mad Men green and navy dress and clutch

Wrap dresses and wrap tops, although some I think I do share with other YLFers.

I would say my boots! My Dr Martens Phina and my Frye Engineer 8Rs in particular.

    Statement item? What's that?

In all seriousness, this is tough for me because my wardrobe is very lacking in statements.

I guess (though they are more like a quiet essential than a statement, per se) my Stuart Weitzman chelsea boots. Or maybe those don't define me to anybody else, but they define me to me, LOL.

My taupe leather jacket counts a bit more as "statement" -- but I have the jacket in common with Shannon (though hers is black) and she inspired me to get it.

My fuchsia silk suit? I think I am the only one here with one of those. :-)

ETA: your items are all quintessentially "you" - Nat, and they are definitely statements.

Hmmm. Maybe for people like me, statement items are less obviously "me" than some of the essentials. I think that is probably true. I am a modern classic girl at heart.

I'm thinking about my red coat. Maybe also the red dress.

GP, I totally think of you as THE Kate Spade gal. I think you are right on with your statement pieces.

For myself, I feel more like Suz. It is about combinations of basics for me. Maybe my turquoise Coach bag is as close as I come to a really singular statement item.

Most of my closet, I think.

But here are a few pieces that are really "me".

1:  DV lace-up midcalf boots.  (The Victorian Combat boots).  These are both Tough and Pretty!  I've been wearing black midcalf boots since high school, since well before midcalf boots were even a thing.

2:  Crazy pants.  I have a bunch, shown are my liberty jeans.  (Also liberty print everything).
    2a: yellow gladiators

3: My Nanette Lepore skirt.  First designer thing I ever bought (like 10 years ago at least), still love it!

    4: Mural floral back vest

5: turquoise leather jacket (this pic is from my honeymoon!)

    6: Bellatrix lace print jacket

7-10: and handknits galore!  Just a few shown...

Maybe flared skirts and quirky prints?

FLARED SKIRTS WITH QUIRKY PRINTS :

ETA: Do I only own 15 quirky printed skirts? That seems low to me, but I can't seem to find any other WiW with quirky printed skirts that are flared besides these ones. I guess I do only own 15.

My Nicole Ritchie clutch that is canvas with strips of cobalt leather. I posted it once but can't find the pic. I'm not sure anyone else recognizes it as a trademark, but I feel very me in it when I wear it.

Huh. I don't know. I like this thread, it is making me think!

    My ripped japanese jeans?
Even though I have not worn it yet, maybe my Burberry funnel neck trench.
    Definitely my brown viscose trench!
    Destroyed Vintage Shoe Co. boots
    Long suede trench.
    Triple lace boots.

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

Well, Rae has them too but the Gidigio boots are what I would save in a fire - they are my favorite statement item.  And my quilted Burberry coat.

I would say my quintessential statement piece is (are?) my Kate Spade Karolina pumps in pink patent with rainbow heels.  I paid full price for them a couple of years ago (still my biggest-ticket purchase, I think) and I never looked back.  My cost per wear must be super low by now!

Runner-up:  The Cutest Purse in the World.

    Burberry gold metallic trench
Nanette Lepore turqoise, pink, and colbat striped blazer
Cole Haan yellow and tan colorblocked oxfords
    Yellow pumps with silver studs
Dooney and Bourke olive croc textured bag (someone once asked me if it was made from a turtle shell - NO!)
    Kate Spade purple tote

  • MsMary replied 10 years ago

Oh, I thought of another one:  Trina Turk plaid blazer!

  • cciele replied 10 years ago

Fun thread! Love to see everyone's distinctive style.

Let's see, I have many statement pieces but here's what I have photos for:
    1. urban waif coat
    2. black leather harness
    3. space vest
    4. pink spiky boots (hm, for some reason the photo is not showing up!)
    5. red neoprene booties

  • Irene replied 10 years ago

I must be the most boring fashionista ever. I have none! Although I have what I thought were quirky pieces (since everybody around me finds them very 'me' and weird), next to yours mine are pretty basic. *sigh*

  • qfbrenda replied 10 years ago

Hmmm... my first is my graying hair, which at 40 is a bit of a statement piece.  It seems that most of the women I know that age are still coloring, which is fine, but it makes mine stand out a bit more than it would otherwise.

My other is probably my bag I haven't used yet.  I will get it for my birthday coming up in Sept:  http://pinterest.com/pin/67483694389186495/
