(UW)Princess Picks a Pewter Puffer

I know it's totally ridiculous that I already have two puffers (white and brown) and yet want another one even though it doesn't even snow here. (Calling Rachylou for support on this!) But this is filling my UWP gunmetal parka wardrobe hole (yes I am creating a hole to justify this). I like the fitted silhouette and the contrasting patterns on the side panels. It is quite light and not bulky at all, yet visually it feels like I'm wearing a coat of armor. I love it! What do you think? Is it a keeper? 5-7 is not styled at all, just threw it on before I changed out of my outfit. But I wanted to show a pic of it open, which is how I would normally wear it.

Laundry by Shelli Segal parka in charcoal (they also have a fab electric blue version). $99! Sizing info--I normally run between a size S and M on top (size 6-8) and sized up to a M on this which was perfect.

Three is bare minimum! I will testify! :D

A gunmetal puffy is BRILLIANT! You've blown my mind.

  • goldenpig replied 7 years ago

I knew you had my back, Rachy! :D

    Powerpuff girls, unite!

It is perfect for you.  Pewter puffer for an UWP.  Brilliant.  Only 3!

I think pewter is something you have to have as well.  It suits you on so many different fronts.

A great choice for you. Now I want one too but they don't have my size.

  • Colette replied 7 years ago

The fit on this looks perfect. It's a great looking puffer. Now I want to create a gunmetal puffer wardrobe hole. :)

  • Suz replied 7 years ago

The fit is brilliant on you, Natalie. Of course you need it. After all, you might come visit me someday, right?  ;)

  • viva replied 7 years ago

Love this. Maybe we ALL need one?

  • RobinF replied 7 years ago

    Love this - great color!

  • JAileen replied 7 years ago

Hey - don't you ever go to Tahoe in winter? If you don't, you should, your kids would love it. Anyway, it gets plenty cold there.

    I LOVE the color.

  • crazyone replied 7 years ago

this is gorgeous and fits you perfectly but I am mystified as to why you need three puffers, sorry.  I live in Boston and survived for several years without one, and I never had one in NJ/PA where it still snows in the winter.

This is unsolicited advice but have you considered donating one of your other puffers to a homeless shelter?  Might be a good one-in, one-out sort of strategy.

  • replied 7 years ago

Now you're making me feel like I need another one, lol.

  • replied 7 years ago

It looks great on you and seems quite slimming for a puffer!

That said, I've got to add a dissenting voice: you don't need it.

  • Elle replied 7 years ago

The color and fit really suit you - and it is washable!

I'm looking for a replacement down puffer.  One question:  what temperature range is the coat good for?  Is it for arctic blasts or 30-40 degree temps?

I'm here to validate your creation of a wardrobe hole. Puffers are a wardrobe staple for me, especially when traveling in colder months since they are light and double as a great pillow (as tested on overnight train from Rome to Venice). This one looks fab on you and it makes me excited to get home, open my pile of boxes and try my blue one on!

  • Carolyn replied 7 years ago

I am now VERY tempted by this puffer.

  • Inge replied 7 years ago

You and Rachy are cracking me up:-)))
It looks excellent on you, so I think you need it (I call this "Inge logic";-)

  • Sylvie replied 7 years ago

It looks lovely on you. Also you can wear it in the city and to the beach.
(Not even joking - our beaches are freezing)

  • Mochi replied 7 years ago

I'd also join in the voices that say you really don't literally need it (though it looks nice on you), or alternatively I like crazyone's idea of donating one or two of your other puffers to an organization that needs one.

  • Keix replied 7 years ago

Having recently moved from the East Coast to northern CA, I think I understand now why you need puffers even though the temps don't require it at all. People in California wear coats differently--I've definitely tossed on a wool coat over a sleeveless non-formal dress a few times, if I think it will be particularly windy or I'm going to be out late at night.

Three does seem like a bit much if you also have several wool winter coats, though. I support keeping this one because you love it so much, and that ultimately trumps impracticality if the budget allows, but I like the one-in one-out idea.

This coat is fabulous on you. That color is perfect for blending with tough and glam elements.
Oh, dear. I think I may feel a wardrobe hole coming on myself.

  • catgirl replied 7 years ago

I will refrain from commenting on weather issues and just say that's a great puffer! The color is really fab. You own more of them than I do (I have 2 long ones now - the red NF replaces my old duct taped one)!

  • DonnaF replied 7 years ago

Love it!!!  I am totally relieved that this doesn't come in Petites, as I would have to create a pewter gunmetal puffer parka hole to keep my pewter gunmetal puffer vest company.

  • DonnaF replied 7 years ago

    Double post.

  • rachylou replied 7 years ago

As an aside, you know, I don't feel we get real winter coats out here. All these puffers in stores are what they call 'sweater weight.'

  • Kate replied 7 years ago

Love it! Gunmetal, what a great color.

I have a temperate climate and two puffers, and am also looking for a third. I travel, therefore I justify my need for all sorts and weights of outerwear.  My absolute favorite thing to buy and wear.

  • Peri replied 7 years ago

    Perfect Pewter Puffer Pick!!

  • shedev replied 7 years ago

It looks really good on you. I think I see that same hole in my wardrobe now.

  • Anna replied 7 years ago

I hope you keep, it is perfection!

  • Ledonna N. replied 7 years ago

Well I love your suit of armor. The right update for an UWP. Is it warm enough? I am loving the color I can see you doing battle Anniston the cold and rain in it.

  • fathenry replied 7 years ago

It looks so good on you, must keep! :)
