WIW 10/24, 25 & 11/7: Clown pants + circus stripes; carnival; Circus Circus

Ladies & gentlemen, children of all ages...the circus is about to begin! Thought you might like to see some outfits with my Brahmin black and white circus stripe satchel. Enjoy the show!

1-3. DH calls these H&M floral pants my "clown pants", so why not pair them with my circus stripe bag for an outfit that would truly make his head spin?
Spiegel black leather jacket
Pleione raspberry shirt
H&M floral pants
Forever 21 teal statement necklace
Brahmin Vineyard Vivian dome satchel

Kate Spade Shelley turquoise pumps

4-5. This crazy dress reminds me of the bright colors in a carnival or Cirque du Soleil costume, and the blazer is kind of like a hot pink version of the ringmaster's red blazer.
Muse pink floral shift (Zulily)
White House Black Market pointy black flats
Tulle raspberry blazer
Banana Republic Trina Turk bracelet
Brahmin satchel

6-7. I know this may be too matchy matchy for a lot of you, but my matchy matchy-ness knows no bounds, so pairing the circus stripe skirt with the circus stripe satchel is a given!
Target black zip top
Vince Camuto black and white stripe midi tube skirt
OTBT gold booties

OK I am disappointed. I came to see the circus and all I get is color extravaganza with ultimate fabness?

    *Rolls eyes and leaves post*

Super, Natalie! I am kicking myself that I didn't get a striped bag and skirt myself!

  • kkards replied 10 years ago

if this is what the circus looks like, i'm ready to run away from home and join.

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

What happy outfits! My favorite is the shift dress with your striped bag. Lots of fun.

  • Aquamarine replied 10 years ago

OM goodness...number 4 is fabulous! But they are all fun and your exuberant use of color always makes me smile.

  • Sona replied 10 years ago

I like your rendition of the VC skirt. Lots of color and matchiness  per your usual style as well.

  • Elly replied 10 years ago

I love the shift dress on you-- it would make a fabulous hostess dress!

  • Word Lily replied 10 years ago

I love all this color! You look great.

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 10 years ago

They are all gorgeous Natalie but I have to say #4 is totally wow.

    You wear color so beautifully.

  • carambola replied 10 years ago

Love it all. You look equally fab in brights and black & white. Also like your peacock iphone cover.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Oh my, such amazing color and fun!  I think the shift is amazing -- vibrant, but so sophisticated.  The Brahmin is a real punch in a sleek package and, paired with a matching skirt is such a bit of ladylike fun!

You're looking stunning -- put together and chic, but having fun, too!

  • Scarlet replied 10 years ago

I am crazy about that circus dress on you! Such a cute theme :) Have you read The Night Circus? The black and white stripes remind me.

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

OK, 6-7 is too matchy for my eyes, but the rest of these are fab - and circus pants are nothing like these babies, that I still covet!

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

This is a great little wardrobe capsule built around a fun black and whtie striped bag.  Nice job!

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

#4 is really knockout. #7 is really good too. There's something about the shirt in #1 that feels a little off to me in the repose of a picture. I agree on the colour and not tucking... but the shirt is looking like it wants to be tucked to me, if that makes any sense. But at the same time, I know that if I saw you in #1 on the street, I'd be all *there goes a cool girl.* Eh - one half dozen.

    Circus rocks.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

Oh man. 6-7 is so so making meregret passing up that skirt. In theory it seemed too matchy, but in reality it is such a quirky match that it is awesome! I mean matching jacket and skirt... Or bag and shoes... More expected. But bag with skirt is unexpected and fun to me!!

  • Emily replied 10 years ago

I love your clown pants!  They look lovely on you.  I love things that match, 6-7 looks great too.  Is the zipped top a recent find?

  • Vix replied 10 years ago

    Hi Goldenpig --

Your title and theme are awesome. I'm surprising myself by liking the dress + bag the most; such a great pattern mix.

I do like the outfit in #6-7 -- so striking and flattering -- but admit you've gone a step too far with the matching for me, ha! But if you're happy, we're happy. ;)

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

    Thanks everyone!
    Neel, you are too funny!
Ceit, yes I'm sad you didn't get the striped skirt and bag--you could have worn them with your B&W striped Beetlejuice blazer! Now that would be awesome! ;)
And Rae, I'm super sad you didn't get the skirt, since you already have the bag. We could have done another twin day, with our kitties.
Kkards, I would love to have you join my little circus--what is your act? I'm definitely the juggler--feel like I'm trying to keep one too many balls in the air!
Thanks Joy, Aquamarine, Elly, Dianthus, & BethAnn. I'm glad you like the dress! It's quite colorful and crazy!
    Thanks Sona, WordLily and Lisa!
Carambola, I like the peacock phone cover too! I also have a black and white polka dot one. The funny thing is I sometimes change it out to match my outfits. Now that is maybe going too far.
Scarlet, I love a circus theme too! Maybe for an upcoming kid birthday it would be really cute! And I did read Night Circus. I'm trying to find a book that's similar to that to read next--any suggestions? I just finished Mr. Penumbra's 24 hour Bookstore--it had a bit of that flavor, although not exactly the same style or subject matter.
Una and Vix, I knew that some people would find the matchy stripes a little too much. Funny thing is my match-o-meter is so skewed that I don't even consider it that match matchy, because it's *only* two matchy items.
Rachy, I think you may be right about tucking--maybe I'll try a half tuck next time.
Emily & Una, thanks for the clown pants love! You have to make up for DH's lack of enthusiasm for them!
Emily, the top is from Target from last winter. http://www.polyvore.com/conver.....d=67035103

That bag is so fab!  I kick myself for not getting it every time I see a picture!!  You look spectacular in every outfit - and not in a circus clown way either.  The pattern mixing in 1 is perfect and so much fun (again, not in a circus way).  The bag puts 4/5 over the top.  Extra, extra stripes...read all about it...6/7 is my favorite.

  • E replied 10 years ago

Love them all: you put such wonderful combinations of colours, patterns, and textures together. And I don't think 6/7 is too much matchy matchiness at all, just lots of fun but at the same time sophisticated. That's a tricky balance to strike but you seem to do it all the time. :)

  • Laurie replied 10 years ago

I am totally drawn to the matchy-ness - my eye goes right to 6 & 7, and i just love it.  you look amazing.  I have to think too much about the other outfits!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

#4 and #7 are spectacular, Natalie. Much better than the circus.

  • karymk replied 10 years ago

You are hilarious, I can hear the organ-grinding monkey as I write!

I love love love it all (esp. the clown pants) except the striped skirt AND the gorgeous Brahmin bag at the same "moment."

  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago

You make matchy-matchy look so fresh and innovative! I don't thing your floral pants are clownish at all!! I love the tension of the opposites --  graphic strip of the purse vs. floral pants; the coral blouse bookended with the aqua, works on so many levels. I also love, love, love #6.
