WIW 11/15: Blogger Copycat Day 4: Dotty Dress and Burgundy Tights

Today's outfit was a dotty dress and burgundy tights inspired by Jessica Quirk again:
http://whatiwore.tumblr.com/po.....dot-to-dot

I've worn this Kate Spade polka dot dress several times, but never thought to pair it with a leather jacket, burgundy tights and booties. I've usually gone with cardigans instead, which skews kind of prim and traditional. This gives it a little bit more edge, which I love. Of course, I piled on extra dots (bag and bracelet)...because you can never have too many polka dots! And I got to use my Kate Spade white statement necklace (subbing for the black statement necklace in Jessica's outfit). I've rarely worn it, thinking it's too fancy for everyday. In fact the whole cocktail dress with statement necklace look I thought would be much too dressy for work, but I thought oh what the heck and just went for it anyways! You only live once! A lot of people said today that they loved my dress (and the matching bag and bracelet).

H&M burgundy ribbed tights
Mia Nanette black lace-up ankle booties
Kate Spade white necklace

Ann Taylor black and white polka dot cuff

Maybelline Plum Perfect lipstick

Oh, and waving to Sveta, who rocked this same look yesterday!

Cute, Natalie! Is the KS dress maternity? Because you look really small in it, so I'm wondering if you switched over to maternity clothes. Love all the dots. And you're right, you only live once so get out the jewelry and enjoy yourself. You look fab! The burgundy tights are so much fun. :)

It is so much fun to see how both you and Sveta interpret this look. I love your fearless pattern mixing and I think you look so beautiful in all of your maternity outfits. The inverse effect between the dress and bag is brilliant.

Thanks Claire! No the KS dress is not maternity. As far as I know, Kate Spade doesn't make maternity (or I'd be drooling all over that line!). In fact, the waist is riding up under my bust now and after wearing it all day, I was thinking I should probably retire it now for the rest of the pregnancy, because it is getting really tight now around my torso and making me itch. It does look like a good maternity dress though, doesn't it!

Thanks Denise! I always think "fearless" when I think of your style so that is quite a compliment coming from you!

I like the outfit, and your interpretation. The bag is so cute. I have burgundy tights as well and you've given me ideas.

I think you look great Natalie :-)

<waving back to copycat twin> I continue to be amazed how stylish you look in your pregnancy. I am afraid I looked like a big lump in my maternity clothes...:-(
Love the bracelet and necklace with this outfit!

I really like your interpretation of this look, and all the details that makes this your look.

This is so much fun. I love that you and Sveta picked the same outfit to copy! Your interpretation is fab. Not only do the love the burgundy tights with it but I also love that you have added booties for your own touch. The bag is a brilliant addition!

This is a great interpretations, and I'm glad we got to see it before you retire the dress. Can I say how fun it is that you're wearing sunglasses since you're copying Jessica? Too cute.
I really like that you've gone with a slightly taller boot.

You look so great! I so look forward to your outfits and lament over the old days when I was pregnant and the choices we had in fashion 26 years ago....ore even 17 years ago(my son's age as of tomorrow)

This is a fantastic copycat look Natalie - and you are so right - you can NEVER have too many polka dots! I really like the burgundy tights and leather jacket with the dress. As you say, it gives it some edge. You look gorgeous!

  • Ingunn replied 11 years ago

You look fantastic in that dress! I admire your sense of style, and how you seem to be able to pull of any mix of colors and patterns.

I pinned this look, and I adore your take on it. I thought I'd prefer pumps -- more burgundy to see, you know, but I think the boots give a little tough edge to a sweet dress, which is terrific.

I love your pattern mixing as always. Here, I think I appreciate the fact that you have also mixed in texture which is why I enjoy your look better than the inspiration. Also being the jewelryhound that I am I really like that necklace ;-) Lovely outfit!
