WIW 11/17 & 19: Cocoon coat, primary and shadow personas

Thank you all so much for your encouragement about the cocoon coat on my cape thread:
http://goldenpig.lookfab.com/p.....t-got-away
I'm glad you think it looks good on me. It is a new silhouette for me so it takes some getting used to. I will try to get back and respond to your wonderful comments, but have been rather busy the last few days. In the meantime, I did pull out the cocoon coat again, even though DH thinks it is "too big" on me. I don't think it is a duplication to have a purple cape and a purple cocoon coat (right?), since they don't seem to cover the same outfit silhouettes. Like I wouldn't be able to wear the cape with the black AllSaints dress, and the cocoon coat wouldn't work with the plaid fit and flare midi skirt. Hopefully there is not too much overlap, so I can justify keeping and wearing both!

With Rachy's recent thread about shadow personas, I realized that these two outfits demonstrate my idea of my shadow persona. The first outfit is my darker, edgier UWP shadow persona and the second outfit is my usual straight up polished ladylike luxe. Kind of like my good girl and my noir personas, LOL. I even have two different watches which is how I can tell which persona I am.

By the way, do you think this cropped sweater works on me, or are cropped sweaters not a good idea for apples?

So first, love the pirate ship! My DD has the same one and lives it to pieces. :)

The cacoon coat looks spectacular on you. So luxe, which is such a hallmark of your style. The cropped sweater works too, especially as it is so texturally rich.

Well I saw this coat on you in person and can attest that it really does look fabulous, Natalie. The coat I bought during SSIF is a very modern cut, and my husband also thinks it's too big; sometimes I think anything that's not fitted or shaped is going to look "too big" to him. I have that same cropped cream sweater! I think it looks fine on you from what I can see in the photos, how do you feel in it? It's a chunky sweater so it's going to add a little bulk to anyone who wears it, as Thistle said it's so texturally rich.

Both the coat and the sweater look good to me.

I like these outfits a lot! It's fun to hear about your style personas, and how you even have a watch for each one. I love the coat on you--totally fab! I like it with both outfits here. I also like the cream sweater, and I think it works especially because of how you're wearing it, with a loose layer underneath that lengthens the look. Brilliant!

I think the coat and cropped sweater look great!

What a lovely bunch of pieces here!  I love this coat, I love the cropped sweater, I love the patent boots, I love the cute pretty cami peeking out from under the sweater....I could go on :)  You look great in the cropped silhouette - it doesn't look off at all to me.

I love both of these looks on you. I kind of have that similar lady look lots of the time plus the liking for dark punk on the side. I feel like All Saints clothing takes more work to adapt to look good for me, but you're doing it so well, I'm tempts to try harder. (I have a dress that doesn't come out often.)

I think both of the coats work--- I love you describing your UWP side as noir. I do think they work for different purposes, and I don't think there are any colors that will clash with that deep beautiful purple shade-- if you love them, keep them. The cocoon is my favorite, so I'm glad you told DH that he just doesn't get fashion. I don't think the cropped sweaters are a bad look on apples but IDK if I love the combo of those two particular tops together.

The cocoon coat is fabulous!  The color is so rich.  The cropped sweater looks good to me.

I'm surprised I really like the crop sweater on you as I thought I truly had a poison eye for them, but I guess not!  Maybe it's the lighter color and low contrast of the top under it, but it looks great. The coat is beautiful too and perfect for you I think. Lovely outfits all around!

I like the coherent colors and mixing up of primary/secondary styles!

I think the cocoon coat is fabulous on you - luxe and modern, and a great colour too.

The cocoon coat is absolutely great--you should wear it often!
I think the sweater works fine over the tank. No problemo.

Interesting point about primary and shadow personas. I LOVE that coat on you. I think the cropped sweater totally works as well - especially since it doesn't look too cropped, if you know what I mean. It looks so soft and cuddly - I want it!
