WIW 11/28: JC Tipped Peacoat & burgundy sweater/boots/clutch

Waving at fellow peacoat quadruplets Sona, Janet and Emily!
Janet wore hers today as well:

and Sona wore hers yesterday:

and Emily has one on the way!

I'm pretty much copying Jessica Quirk's WIW that I did for the Blogger Copycat Challenge (inspiration pic in #10):

Here was my version:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ots-gloves
but I loved her version so much that when I saw the recent cyber super sales, I scooped up the exact same J Crew peacoat and burgundy cashmere sweater that she wore.

Tipped Peacoat in antique white--was $298, I got it for $97:
http://www.jcrew.com/womens_sp...../92050.jsp
(By the way, PSA--the tipped peacoat is marked down to $129 on the website and with the code WINTER you can get 25% off $150 and free shipping, so that brings it down to $97! It also looks like they've removed the "final sale" from the webpage, so it should be returnable now!)

Collection Cashmere ribbed sweater in cabernet--was $288, I got it for $159 (unfortunately it's not on sale anymore):
http://www.jcrew.com/womens_ca...../14684.jsp
This sweater is sooo soft! I haven't had a truly high quality cashmere sweater before--the only ones I have are the Only Mines from Nordstrom, which are OK (great for the price) but they started to pill after only a couple wears. I ordered another J Crew cable fisherman's sweater (non-cashmere) and it is itchy so I'm returning it. But this one is so comfy and soft against the skin!

Since it was raining today, I paired it with my chianti Aquatalia rainboots. And I found a patent burgundy clutch at DSW that exactly matches my rainboots, how cool is that! Another matchy matchy score! My first oversized clutch, how fun! Although, I also included pics with my more practical black bag--which one do you prefer?

I have to admit, I felt better about my outfit IRL than I do now looking at these pics. I don't know if it's the way I'm standing/slouching, but I feel like I look kinda fat in the pics--I know the jacket was not designed as a maternity coat, so it looks a little funny flaring out over the bump. But IRL today I got lots of compliments about my jacket and boots, so I guess it looked OK. I think this outfit will look better on me once I get rid of the baby tummy (it's going to take me a lot longer than Jewell though!) and can button up the coat.

Thanks for looking and commenting!

Gorgeous! I am loving that peacoat, and please banish fatness thoughts from your mind. The burgundy clutch looks better to me, and I know you must adore the matchiness. But if was really raining, I'd have gone for the shoulder bag, just because I'm a klutz and clutch + umbrella would have ended poorly!

You look really lovely! I prefer the burgundy clutch...it has a richer feel to me and looks beautiful with the sweater and the peacoat. By the way, you look not a bit chunky, just lovely, curvy, pregnant and stylish.

    Love this!

And I am SO glad I waited. I was going to order this but held off, and now with the discount it came to $121! So awesome. I got the burgundy with the navy tipping.

    This is lovely Natalie.

You look great! Not fat at all - just pregnant :) The sweater is a beautiful color and I would never have guessed those are rain boots. They look so sleek and chic and not what I expect when I hear the words "rain boot". BTW, I live in the desert where it rarely rains so I never see rain boots in real life - people just don't own them here.

Natalie, that is an awesome price on the coat! Thank you for telling us about it. You might get some more YLFers wearing it. I think you look amazing in it and you're doing such an amazing job dressing right now. FWIW I think the coat looks fine on you, and I even called hubby over to take a look. He has always thought pregnant women in full bloom were beautiful (in a platonic and non-creepy way). He thinks you look super cute! That sweater and clutch are to die for. Look out Jessica Quirk!

Natalie, you look beautiful! I can't wait until I receive my coat and can copycat the heck out of this look :) The burgundy clutch is fantastic too.

(PS You do not look fat!!!)

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

I am super jealous of that clutch. I SOOOOOO want to get one!!

You look beautiful in this outfit, as always. I really like the surprising addition of the pendant. Look how it glows!

    Great outfits.

  • Sona replied 11 years ago

Fab and you insipired my outfit today!!!

  • Sylvie replied 11 years ago

Such a gorgeous outfit and coat! I've been admiring that coat for weeks but know it has no place in my closet. I'm living vicariously through all of you.

  • Day Vies replied 11 years ago

I love this color combination. Don't be surprised if I'm wearing it some time in the next few weeks ;-) The clutch has me salivating especially with the boot. Looking at your pictures always makes me happy and lifts my spirits. Thanks for the post.

Such a beautiful outfit, I need to add this to my inspiration file!

I didn't have much time to comment recently on your posts GP, but I just wanted to say I admired them all in a sometime lurking mode:-), and wanted to let you know that I never ever have seen such a stylish preggy Working Mom and Mother of 2 :-)) You have a wonderful wardrobe, much amire here on the forum I think:-), and YLF no matter what! Hope your DD is healing quick, and feeling better!

  • goldenpig replied 11 years ago

Thanks so much everyone for the boost! You all made my day! Glad to know I don't look fat! I never worry about that normally. I felt great wearing it, it was only when I looked at the pics that I was wondering if it looked funny because of the pregnant tummy!

Thanks Kat, Shannon, Asingh, and Sylvie!

Atlantia, I'm not used to clutches either, because I rarely have a free hand with toddlers in tow. And I tend to like big bags so I can stash all my stuff. But it was pretty cheap so I thought I'd give the clutch trend a whirl. It does actually have a chain strap so you can wear it on your shoulder. I do love the matchy matchiness of the boots and clutch.

Ceit, I can't wait to see the coat on you too! Glad you got it at a good price! The burgundy version sounds so rich.

Sara, I love pulling these boots out for the rain. I don't have any Hunter wellies or other traditional rain boots. I grew up in the desert too and sometimes it did rain a lot in monsoon season, so you have an excuse if you ever want to get a pair of rain boots!

Claire, say thank you to your hubby!

Emily, can't wait to see the coat on you!

Suz, thanks--I wanted to wear a round pendant like JQ. The orange I wouldn't have thought would go with the burgundy but it works surprisingly well!

Sona--I'm glad I inspired you...you inspired me right back with your outfit today!

Day Vies, can't wait to see your version...you are always great with your inspiring color combos.

    Amyreh--so glad you're back! I missed you!

Lyn67, thanks, you're so sweet! DD is doing very well, she's a tough cookie.

Natalie, extra thanks for the PSA re: 25%off/free shipping - after a bit of cajoling JCrew gave me a price adjustment. (Though they were sure to mention they might not be able to in future.)

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

Totally gorgeous, Natalie! That clutch is AMAZING with the outfit. I love your matchy-matchy streak. It's playful and shows us just how much fun you have with fashion. That is stylish :)

  • JR replied 11 years ago

Really lovely. Either bag works, to my mind.
