WIW 12/8: Pop some bubbly!

Yay, made it to 3rd trimester! Let's pop some bubbly! But since I can't have champagne, I'm wearing it! Everything I'm wearing has some sort of bubbles on it.

I posted a K/R on this necklace and bag:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....two-purses
and they got lukewarm reviews. Let me know if you like them better styled--I left the tags on them just in case!

TJ Maxx $20 bubble print dress (I forgot the brand)
J Crew black bubble necklace
DSW black quilted clutch with gold "bubble" studs
All Black fish bow pumps with "bubble" cutouts on the cap toe

You should be a model for motherhood! Love that dress, such a cute interpretation of the pattern. I happen to love that necklace and bag, seems like you will get loads of fun from both! keep!

Hey, lookin' good! Love the cheerful print on that dress. I was on the fence about the bag and necklace in your K/R post (though I don't think I commented), but I like them both here.

Natalie, I love your themes and the way you create outfits around a concept!

This outfit is so much fun and very "bubbly"! The dress is adorable on you! Is it warm enough where you live for something sleeveless?

I do like the necklace. I should- I have the same one, also inspired by Jessica Quirk. See it here: http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....edo-jacket
The thing about it is, it's a LOT of necklace, so it's not easy to wear. I prefer to wear it with something simpler so that it's not so "busy" looking. I also agree that it would look better worn a little shorter.

The bag is nice. I prefer it as a clutch, but it's nice to have the option of a shoulder strap. Whether it fills a wardrobe hole for you I can't say.

Congrats on reaching the third trimester! Wow, it won't be that long til we see the new little mini-GP!!

I like the dress and necklace but I'm not sure about them together. But keep in mind that you have a more maximal style than me. I have the same necklace but in red (mine's a knockoff though and not actual J Crew). I sometimes shorten it up by using a safety pin through the chain.

I love the bag and necklace. I think the necklace competes a little bit with the neck line of the dress but not enough for this to be a fail - in fact don't think I've ever seen you have a fail.

Yay, I love this whole outfit. LOOOVE the dress. Almost tempted to try and find it to wear with my turquoise uniform shirt, lol. But instead I will admire it on pretty you. So cute!

When the YLF fashion line comes out, you are so doing the maternity section. :)

  • Kristin L replied 11 years ago

I think your outfit looks great!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

I second Rae's vote for you as a maternity model for the YLF line! You are just looking more and more gorgeous every day Natalie and your outfits are just a treat for the eyes!

I absolutely ADORE this dress on you and the fish bow shoes go so well with it. I haven't worn mine in quite some time - need to dig them out again. I like the purse but am not wowed by it. I'm sorry but I'm still not crazy about the necklace - it just seems to overwhelm you. But to be honest, I may just not care for these necklaces in general so take my comments for what they're worth :)

    KILLER

Fun! Those shoes are awesome. If you tire of them, feel free to send them right along. I wear a 7-7.5

Actually, I had a great thought. Your baby is due before mine. Then you can send ALL your maternity wear to me!!! (I jest. But I wish!)

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Wow. yesterday I thought that necklace was too much. But today you put it together with a whole bottle of bubbly things and I am completely smashed by it!!

You have brilliant, unique and personal style Natalie.

    Rock ON!!!

You are adorable and I think you should be Queen Thought-Out-Outfit. I love how you put these statement pieces together in playful themed ways! CLEVER! How is your DH liking your maternity style?

  • goldenpig replied 11 years ago

Thanks Carole, Emily & Kristin! I did have a lot of fun with the outfit today.

Parsley, wow you kill me with your version--now that is sharp! So fun to be necklace twins with you! The necklace does make a strong statement against plain backgrounds. I was using the print in part to camouflage how big and bold the necklace was. Thanks for thinking of my comfort--I did put my KS black trench over it in the morning, but mostly wore it bare all day because I was inside, and in the afternoon it was 69 degrees so not super chilly. Next time I could try it with a cardigan on top if it's colder. Mini-GP is coming in about 3 months, so not that much longer to go! Time flies!

Wow Sara, necklace triplets! I think the red would be really eye-catching. Do you have some WIW posts with the necklace?

Kiwichick, I agree, I wasn't sure about the keyhole neckline with the necklace on top but I just couldn't resist doing the theme so I went with it anyways.

Rae, I doubt you'd find the dress. I bought it late summer at TJ Maxx. I checked the tag and the brand is Emma & Michele, if that helps at all. Here's a couple other times I wore the dress:

    http://goldenpig.lookfab.com/p.....18-on-call
Rae, how about we do a collaboration on a UWP maternity line? You can head the UW department and I'll head the P department! Now that is something I'd buy!

Thanks Shannon! I was wondering why I hadn't seen your fish bow pumps lately...bring them out of hiding, shoe twin! I wear them so often because they're very flat pumps, and because they go so well with Dotty and with my love of polka dots. I know, the necklace *is* a bit much but I think the black color makes it a bit more subdued...I think I can work with it...it's a good challenge for me to wear statement necklaces without being overwhelmed by them.

Angie, wow, I'm thrilled! Thank you!

Cobaltblue, looks like we are the same shoe size--I'm 7.5 too! What size clothes are you? The problem is I've been trying so hard to avoid buying maternity, that all my new stuff is pretty much non-maternity and clothes I'm hoping to still wear postpartum, except the maternity clothes I had for prior pregnancies...I'd be happy to pass some on if you are interested, but it's mostly pre-YLF maternity clothes.

Thanks Suz! Glad that the champagne got you smashed! :)

Una, thank you for the title! I'm tickled by themes and my matchy matchy side goes wild with them! Not sure DH has the same level of appreciation for my fashion creativity as you all do, but he does often tell me I look nice (when I'm not going too all-out crazy--he has more classic tastes and hates pattern mixing and animal prints and bright pants etc. but he liked the tipped peacoat on me though!). No comment from him on today's outfit, but I did get lots of compliments from random people throughout the day on my dress and shoes! They're both attention- and compliment-getters!

Congratulations --- I don't have any bubbly either (not even to wear), but let me toast you with some cranberry and apple juice! :-)

I love how you make fashion not just fun, but a delightful *game* for yourself. And what a concept to celebrate your impending motherhood with it. No wonder you're such a great mom.

Oh, and you look delightfully bubblicious and beautiful too :-D

GP, you are too funny! This little number is so adorable on you. I particularly like the combination of this dress with the shoes. Too cute!
