WIW 1/6/26: Matchy Matchy MOTG stripes, and then and now fam pics!

If you know me, you know how much I love matchy matchy. When I have a handbag that matches my outfit perfectly, it makes me so so happy! This is why I cannot have a small capsule wardrobe and I have a hard time letting go of purses! I love having the theme/detail repeated throughout the outfit. Here I have a navy and white striped long sleeve La Ligne T-shirt, navy and white MZ Wallace bag with lobster charm, and navy stripe wide leg track pants which are new from Rag and Bone. I wore my Rag and Bone "bird poo" pajama jeans back in the early YLF days (https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....jama-jeans), so it's nice that they still make sweatpant jeans! And navy and white stripe Onizuka Tiger Mexico 66 slip on sneakers. Total comfort for mom on the go weekends, and I love being hypermatchy! It's my favorite MOTG shirt because it's casual but is slightly dressier than a plain T. I'm thinking of getting the similar La Ligne navy and white sweater (https://lalignenyc.com/product.....ords%3Ax%3)

I also like matchy matchy throwbacks to similar outfits then and now. I couldn't find a WIW of me with this exact shirt and bag, but here's another one of me with white and navy MOTG stripes with my favorite color orange thrown in with the handbag and koi fish loafers. https://youlookfab.com/welookf.....laying-koi And little boys! How funny that all of my WIW's back then had the baby toys in the background and kids underfoot. Nostalgia is bittersweet, I miss those babies!

Also, I love matchy matchy family outfits--I bought so many matching Tea Collection clothes for the kids (but that era of matching family outfits is sadly over, sigh). Throwback family Santa pic from my YLF days in 2013 with my beetle print blouse and kids all in matching Tea. We've been getting kid & family Santa pics every year, and this year the kids didn't want to do it but I made them, because I couldn't bear to have that tradition be over forever, but they were too embarrassed to let me post the pics anywhere!

In 2014 we did a family photo shoot at Baker Beach, the kids all wore Tea again and I wore a Michael Kors water print dress. I still wear that dress whenever we do family beach photos. It's stretchy and the draping is forgiving for apple shapes and it doesn't wrinkle, so it's great for travel. And it matches with the beach theme. I usually wear it with a seahorse necklace, but this time I wore a manta ray necklace with a Tahitian pearl that I got when DH and I celebrated our 25th anniversary last year by going to Rangiroa to dive with dolphins. I made DH get some couple photos with me there. I wore a Tommy Bahama dress that I also have worn for years, and I wore a traditional floral headdress.

I had planned to take family Christmas photos in 2024 at the same Baker Beach with the view of the Golden Gate Bridge (exactly 10 years later! I loved the matchiness of that), but the photographer got sick, then we got sick, and then it was raining, so the shoot got postponed three times. By the time we ended up doing it, it was in June 2025, so we ended up getting some photos of DD in her graduation gown as well. I still wore the same water dress from 10 years ago, and even made DS1 do the same flying pose!

Here's our Christmas card (with personal details redacted) so you can see just how much they've grown! DS1 is now taller than DH, and DS2 has just started his growth spurt. I can't believe how much time has flown since I first joined YLF, when DS1 was just a baby! They are 18, 15 and 12 now. DD was here for winter break, but just went back to college and I miss her already!

I love stripes and your matchy-matchy stripes are adorable. I also love that you keep the clothes that serve you for ages and wear them. Team Wear for the win! And last but not least you have a beautiful family.

    What a beautiful family

fashionwise, you had me at stripes, especially navy stripes.  Love love love the matching bags and sweater moment.  And I have those rag and bone “jeans’ in the solid version and love them.

How adorable You are all!!! Fab handsome boys, a gorgeous mom and a beautiful grown up Princess! Thanx for sharing, Ioved so much to see your fab family  then and now sporting the same genuine smiles and some of the old but goodie clothes!! Our fashion fixations stay with us for life, isn't it?  Matchy-matchy  suits you  and you are a master doing it perfectly even with patterns!

Love the family pics then and now! Wow, time goes fast. It’s crazy!

The play of stripes in your outfit is so good. And how did I not know that Onitsuka Tiger does a slip-on sneaker? I must investigate.

I love the Miramar line and am tempted by every new offering. My neighbor/friend has those side stripe ones and I’m gonna sneak over there and steal them from her, LOL. I have the solid version and they are VERY baggy (especially after walking the Camino), but so comfortable. I mainly just wear them at home so I don’t mind how they look. I still have the jogger version that I bought from Una/alaskagirl! I wear those around the house too.

Love the stripey outfit! I like a bit of matchy matchy myself so I approve :) I also love the blue dress.

Cute family photos! It is crazy how fast time goes by isn't it. I also miss the little kid days - as difficult as they were at times! Mine are now 35, 32 and 29 and sometimes I just can't believe it.

OMG, so much fun to see your gorgeous kids! How fast kids grow! Thank you for posting!
Love your outfit #1. I have similar pants from rag & bone but mine don’t have stripes! I like yours more!

So nice to see you here again! I’ve missed your maximal matchy style! Love this elevated casual outfit and those rag and bone pants (I’m a forever fan but probably destined to wear copycats - have a genuine pair to return right now as a matter of fact, they’re too long and just not cool enough on me to justify even the sale price…)

I do love a stripe, and I do love a matchy-matchy! And most of all, I love a beautiful family!! All of it is just making me smile!!

  • Suz replied 2 weeks ago

You are a matchy matchy queen! I love the stripes! And how great to see your kids growing up. Beautiful family.

  • Roberta replied 2 weeks ago

I love looking at these family pictures over the years! My brother has done the beach picture with his fam and it is such a treat to see the kids grow up. Of course the adults are ageless!

  • Angie replied 2 weeks ago

Natalie, you are YLF's other Queen Matchy-Matchy! Wave to Lisa! she is our first, and she loves stripes to0 ;)

I love stripes with you, and you look casually playful in your cute outfit! The fun bag amps everything up!

Your kids were absolutely ADORABLE when they were little. All grown up and looking fab! Your oldest son is very tall! Does your little son still love crab?

I remember the KILLER matching family Halloween costumes! Fave was The Incredibles :)

  • MsMaven replied 2 weeks ago

Love, love the family photos. Such fun. And I love the stripes. Can't remember when I've seen a striped bag like yours. Usually they are much more subtle, but this works great with your top.

  • Kate replied 2 weeks ago

It's so nice to see you, Natalie. I have missed your matchy-matchy style.

And your little kids are all grown up! What a beautiful family you have. Thanks so much for sharing your family photos.

The first outfit is fabulous! Crazy how kids grow isn't it? Mine are 23, 21,21 (minus a week) and it is a bit mind blowing!

Beautiful matching and beautiful family. We haven’t done regular photos like that but did do one on New Year’s Day 1 January 2000 on a local beach as a sort of “time capsule”- they were 8, 6 and 3 at the time now 34, 32 and 29 and the eldest has a 4 y old daughter!

Thank you Lise, kkards, lyn67, Janet, RobinF, Irina, Jules, Mary, Suz, Roberta, MsMaven, Kate, Jaime, JenniNZ! So many names I recognize from before (that just shows the power of the YLF community) and new friendly faces too! Can't wait to catch up on Lisa's matchy matchy style and everyone else's too! Sounds like a lot of us are enjoying Rag and Bone sweatpant/pajama jeans! Family pics are so much fun/important, especially as the years go by.

Angie, how fun that you remember that my youngest loves crab! Yes, he still loves crab, it's been his favorite food ever since his first taste at 1.5 year old! Now he and DH are into fishing and crabbing together and he just caught some Dungeness crab! The first time DH had a whole crab and DS2 ate TWO whole crabs! This past weekend, they caught a couple more and made crab sandwiches. DS2 has also been going fishing and crabbing with a friend from school, and a few weeks ago they caught 10 rock crabs and went to the friend's house and made crab wontons, with homemade wonton wrappers using a pasta maker. So fancy! He's living his best life!

I will have to catch you up on the family Halloween costumes at some point. Here was last year's. I was sad because this year was the first year we couldn't do a family costume as DD was off at college. End of an era!
