WIW 2/26 & 2/28: Plain Pinstripes & Polka Dots

I thought this first outfit was a bit plain and maybe a little less "me" than usual, but my husband really liked it and kept complimenting me on it, especially the shirt. Go figure! Whenever I wear plain black fitted turtlenecks or a plain red or plain blue button down shirts he loves it! I think boring, he thinks classic and stylish. He hates a lot of bold or busy patterns and isn't into edgy stuff (he was an Eagle Scout, if that means anything) so we're somewhat at odds with our tastes--he's a lot more conservative and simple in his tastes compared to me.

I did manage to do matchy matchy with the glasses necklace and my glasses, and the leather strap on the bracelet matching the straps on the Ugg flats and the contrast trim on the Jason Wu for Target straw purse. But I felt like the second outfit was a lot more "me". I so love finding exactly matchy matchy pieces that aren't even from the same source. I bought the Vince Camuto big black polka dot skirt first, and when I saw the Kate Spade big black polka dot diaper bag I knew I had to have it! This Target black zippered shirt is one of my core workhorse pieces, just like my black studded purse and black Ugg moto boots. This is one of the few pieces in my large wardrobe that is probably down to pennies in CPW by now. So Helmut Lang-ish. I even bought the Helmut Lang Villous sweatshirt, but I end up reaching for this Target version way more often! I just change out the skirt and purse...my Target shirt plus random skirt plus moto boots and black satchel has become a FFBO for me. What do you think of these two outfits, and is one more "me" than the other, or are they just my regular and shadow style?

Men really seem to like simple. American men. It's rather fascinating. I do feel the second outfit is more you and do find the first plain. Not bad, mind. Just slightly bewildereding, lol. My brother, as I've mentioned, assures me I'm completely frilly girl. I don't understand the understandable...

The fit of that shirt is really impeccable, I like  the color and pinstripes to it, so DH has a good eye. It is a bit androgynous -so he may have some shirts alike, so here  his love  may come from...Of course, the other outfit is more you, but you can use the nr 1 anytime you want with the clear intention to  humble him:-),   or to blend in more meanwhile still  impressing with the obvious crispness. That shirt would look fab to jeans, too:-).

Well, I have to agree with your husband, you look breathtaking in the first set of pictures.  Then I saw the second set of pictures and WOW.

Both outfits are fabulous. The second is more like what I'm used to seeing you wear, the first is more like what I'm used to seeing me wear!

I like both but the second looks more like you. My DH likes the more conservative looks too.

I think both have your signature matchiness, but it's more subtle in #1 and I have to look more carefully.  I feel like #2 is more "you" since #1 seems more conservative than I usually associate with your style.

That's funny, I think of 4, 5 and so so so so much more 'you' than the first one, which as you say, is a classic look. There is always an element of fun in all your WIWs but it seems to be missing from #1.

MATCHY LOVE!  The first outfit just doesn't say "Natalie" to me but it's a very nice look.

My assistant just bought me a $5 Kate Spade knockoff polka-dot wallet at Walmart (I don't shop there, but I also don't turn down gifts!).  It is so much fun with the striped Brahmin.  I think you should do dots and stripes next. :)

I don't know you yet, but I say the second one is show stopper. I'd notice you on the street, think it was fab, and stop to take a second look.
The first one is more conservative, very well thought out, and quieter.
You probably have occasions for both in your life, and if your husband really likes the first, I'd wear it at times that are important to him or more about him.
