WIW 2/8: Neutrals Day 3--DH's pick cream and black trench

This is the cream and black trench coat from White House Black Market that DH picked out for me when we were vacationing in Hawaii in December (he may regret that he got me hooked on the store!). The trench fabric is permanently wrinkly, but I kept it because DH picked it out for me. I haven't had an occasion to wear it yet, but neutrals week seemed like the perfect occasion to break it out! Plus it's a sunny day and feels like spring so it's a perfect lightweight coat for the weather. This outfit reminds me a little of Angie's prior post where she wore Gap Really Skinny pants with Giveable flats (http://youlookfab.com/2011/07/.....-of-black/)--too bad I don't have those cream and black flats--that would have been perfect!

Which pants do you like better for this outfit--Blue Essence skinny jeans (1&3) or Gap Really Skinny pants (2, 4, 5-7)? The BE jeans are thicker, but tighter since I sized down to a 2, and even then they tend to slip down a bit. So I went with the Gap pants for comfort. I'm not sure I like the outfit sans trench (short skinny top over skinny pants feels a little bare) but the shirt goes well with the trench. And here's some bonus MOTG shots at the park with the kiddos! I was a little dressy compared to the other moms at the park, but who cares, I was comfortable!

White House Black Market cream and black Contrast Cropped Trench coat, cream and black striped top, and silver and black pendant necklace
Gap Really Skinny black pants (vs. Blue Essence black skinny jeans)
Stuart Weitzman Giveable black ballet flats
Coach black purse (this purse is super old and worn, but it's one of the few neutral non-crazy-patterned bags that I own!)

Here's the original story about the trench:

I love that trench, very chic and I think the stripes go great with it!! The pants seem to fit and flatter your figure nicely!! cute kiddos!!! And that is ok that you were the most dressed up mommy at the park!! That happens to me sometimes at kids functions now since I found YLF!! :-)

Great trench! I really love the outfit. I can't really tell the difference in the pants--only that 1/3 seem more fitted around the knees. They both look great though. You have adorable children! I just want to pinch their cheeks--lol!

Natalie, DH has very good taste. I love that trench!! I think you look gorgeous and I do like the striped top without the jacket too. And in my opinion you look just perfect for the park with the kids (who are just adorable). I too am usually more dressed up than the other mums.. its just who we are :)

That trench is divine - good picking DH! I love the jeans in #1/3 and you look without the trench too!

Hmm I prefer the pants in #1/3 because the ankle taper keeps the pants off the ground and that looks a little crisper to me in this outfit. I totally think you could leave the trench on as part of your look, just like you could a blazer. Fab outfit Natalie!

Great trench and I really like the look in #3 without the trench too. The jeans you wore look a bit long in the side shot in the park, but that is a small thing. Great look!

What a fantastic - and stylish - mommy! Your kids are just adorable - beaming smiles! The two-tone neutrals on the WHBM trench really elevate it - fab taste, DH! You look smashing in black and white. I don't blame you for getting hooked on WHBM - you've had great luck finding winners there! :)

You look great Natalie!! So sleek. You look long and lean even when wearing flats.

I like both of the pants, they are just a little different in fit. The Blue Essence are more fitted, the Gaps have a bit more of a relaxed look. The Gaps might be a little more modest while the others a little sexier.
