WIW 3/9-10 Beetlemania! Maximal matchy matchy

Angie really had my number when she posted about maxmal matchy matchy at Banana Republic. I couldn't resist the floral and insect theme and had to check it out! Couldn't find the daisy print items in store, but came home with a watercolor floral print skirt. This reminds me of the bias cut floral printed skirts from Ann Taylor and Banana Republic that I used to wear all the time in the late 1990's/early 2000's and only finally got rid of after I joined YLF 5 years ago (see 17-20 for the evidence). And now I'm right back where I started, pastels and florals, LOL. Hello Banana Republic floral skirt, nice seeing you again! How do you like the 2016 version?

I knew the beetle earrings and brooch would be perfect with my beetle print shirt. It's a swarm of insects, between the butterflies, beetles and dragonflies throughout these two outfits. Yes, weird and over the top, but you know me, I can't resist a theme! Anything worth doing is worth doing to excess!

1-8. White House Black Market ink blue jacket
Everlane blush pink sweater
Banana Republic floral skirt
Banana Republic silver lace up flats (could not resist these--perfect for spring!)
Stella and Dot How Does She Do It blue ikat bag (doing a little pattern mixing with the skirt!)
Kate Spade butterfly necklace
Tildon dragonfly cuff (silver)

9-16. WHBM ink blue jacket
Tory Burch beetle blouse
Tory Burch skirt
Tory Burch dragonfly pumps
Alexis Bittar dragonfly necklace
Banana Republic beetle brooch & earrings
Tildon dragonfly cuff (gold)
Kate Spade High Line Leica clutch (yes I used this already this month but I'm running out of purses and it went best with this outfit)

17-20. 90's flashback! YLF newbie WIWs, circa 2011. Hopefully my style has evolved somewhat, but I still haven't changed my love of prints and delicate floral skirts!

    Fab!
Really love the play of blues in # 9.
The total matchy bug thing brings to mind some kind of Egyptian Goddess insect- whisperer or patron saint of wild creatures ( in a beneficent way!).

    You are covered in bugs!
I like the new skirt and appreciate how much fun your matchy-matchy style can be! Also great silver lace-ups.

  • Staysfit replied 8 years ago

The Tory Burch Dragon Fly pumps are killer! I love the bugs!

Wow.  GoldenPig.  Everything you do makes me wish I knew you in real life.  I would both envy and adore your wardrobe, but more importantly, your style.

Your patients must love to see you walk into a room! You're style is always so much fun and cheerful.

Ahhhh - I SO LOVE your WIWs! They are just amazing and playful and really different from my aesthetic but so wonderful to behold. My favorite is the 9-16 series: every single piece of it. Just gorgeous. Super luxe, sophisticated, witty sexy librarian. I love it so so much.

And, at the other end of the spectrum, the quiet beauty of 19-20 is just breathtaking.

How did the silver shoes do during the course of the day? Did they stay tied? Did the ties stay in place on your leg? I wonder about the integrity of those shiny laces.

Funnily enough, I love being covered in bug jewelry, but if they were real bugs I think I would freak out! Tory Burch did say she was inspired by scarabs when she did the Fall 2013 collection with all the beetles and dragonflies. I love those dragonfly pumps but they're 4 inches which is too high, so I always have to bring my turquoise Tory Burch ballet flats as a backup. Too bad she didn't make a 2 inch version!  The silver lace up flats did stay laced and on my legs, but since I tied them rather snug they did cause little lines on my feet and calves and were a little itchy. Kind of like when you wear tight socks. But it was worth it. I tried the version without the lace up and it was too big and didn't stay on my feet so I prefer the security of the lace-up version. Angie had posted a Topshop version with heels, but I prefer flats over pumps right now. I don't know about the shiny laces, they seemed fine.

This is SO MUCH FUN! How awesome! Running with a theme is my thing, too. (Except I do it with airplanes...) I don't know that I have a favorite; maybe the second outfit, because (almost) everything is on theme. WOW for the dragonfly shoes. Thanks so much for sharing!

  • replied 8 years ago

Wow, I love the first and second outfits, particularly the second outfit. There are so many little details that I just love like the puffed shoulder on the blazer, the bug print mixed with the print of the skirt and the texture and colour of your clutch. I think it all works because you've kept it monochromatic.

I think your style is quite a bit bolder than 5 years ago...I like it!

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

Matchy Matchy Fabness all round. You're just so Killer Cute, Natalie. I could eat you up.

Your bold style is a nice juxtaposition with your gentle persona. Rock on.

  • JAileen replied 8 years ago

When I saw the beetles I thought of your dragonfly items. Definitely maximal fabness!

  • Kari replied 8 years ago

Yes! When I saw Angie post that collection I remembered the beautiful scarab print Tory Burch pieces. I should have known that you had something in that print. I love how you have worked beetles into your aesthetic in such a ladylike way. I also have always admired that ink jacket on you, and I think this is my favorite outfit yet incorporating that piece.

  • Sara L. replied 8 years ago

Great outfits!  I have to admit though that the beetle jewelry kind of creeps me out.  I love those dragonfly pumps though.  I also love those silver lace up flats.  So great!

  • replied 8 years ago

I adore your matchy- matchy awesome-ness! Both looks are soooo fab. Love those silver shoes!

  • Aida replied 8 years ago

Soooo fun. And lovely to see that beautiful BR floral skirt in action. I'm mulling it over myself. It looks amazing with the strappy flats, which I am now also mulling over. Loving the mix of prints in both outfits.

I like that blue jacket with the grommet holes a lot! I'm still jealous of the scarab blouse and dragonfly shoes ... I bought other great pieces from that collection but regret not having those.

    Yikes and yet so fantastic!

  • Gigi replied 8 years ago

Really loving the outfit in 9-11. Great colors! And I love all the insect pieces, especially the dragonfly shoes. You have such amazing attention to detail!

  • rachylou replied 8 years ago

The Tory Burch is just one of the all-time bests!

  • Karie replied 8 years ago

I love it! Match-matchy perfection. The dragonfly pumps, the watercolor floral skirt, and the lace-up flats are my favorite pieces.

  • Colette replied 8 years ago

I'm both freaked out by the bugs and loving them at the same time. You look fab. But, the TB pumps are seriously killer.

  • SarahTheWhite replied 8 years ago

I enjoy your outfits SO much! There is such incredible detail and texture. The bugs are so fun!! I also enjoyed the photos showing how your style has evolved over time. What a neat way to track the evolution...

  • El Cee replied 8 years ago

You have the most whimsical, fun wardrobe. I want to come play in your closet. :-)  Your outfits are always so fun to view. I bet you put a smile on people's faces every day. Both ensembles are fabulous. I especially love your bug outfit. I collect scarab jewelry and really enjoyed seeing your lovely beetles. Those dragonfly pumps are gorgeous.
