WIW 4/27: Morse code (Dotty debut)

I found a Marc Jacobs handbag (Rita's Dotty bag) on eBay and I couldn't resist! (I used rebate/consignment money and DH OK'ed it). I thought this would be a fun way to debut it--you know I love matchy matchy theme outfits. No color, which is atypical for me, but everything is cream/linen and black and it has enough pattern and texture to keep my interest. I'm calling it Morse code because of the dots and stripes. :) And I like how all the pieces either have some sort of dot or stripe on it. And the snake on the bag kind of echos the fish scales on the shoes.

What do you think? And any other suggestions for ways to wear this bag? Since the color is linen instead of white, I'm having a harder time picturing how to wear it (I would have paired it with my black and white polka dot shirt, but I feel like wearing it with true black and white pieces just makes the bag look dirty).

White House Black Market cream and black contrast spring trench coat (black dot buttons and black striped trim)
WHBM cream and black stripe shirt
WHBM black pendant (links look kind of like dots)
Halogen black pencil skirt (with two vertical black leather pinstripes)
All Black cream and black Fish Bow Pumps (cutout dots along the front)
Marc Jacobs Dotty Snake Lil Ukita bag (linen with black dots)

    ...---...

That's SOS - Save Our Ship, because the captain has fainted dead away from the utter fabness! I just saw this bag in person a couple weekends ago - and hey, I'm not usually a polka dot person, but this bag is *insane* in person. None of the promo pics ever did it justice IMO, and I'm in love with the textural B/W thing you hae going here!

OMG!! HELLO DOTTY!! So nice to have a twin across the country!!

Just lovely from head to toe. How sweet :)

Isn't she just an adorable little bag. She's great for pattern mixing and I noticed she also gives just the right punch to minimalist outfits.

Great neutral look! love how it still has lots of interest from the dots, stripes, tipped jacket etc.

As for the linen color of the bag... I read in one of Angie's posts (sorry not sure which one, i have read lots of archives in addition to the daily blog) that she embraces all shades of white together so I would just go for it!

I love the jacket and skirt even without the FANTASTIC new bag :)

I love Dotty's twin. Should we name her "Baby B"?
I think red is my favorite color for you, speaking of your other thread.

    It's a pattern mixing match-terpiece!

Great outfit! The blogger/stylist on Saucy Glossie has the same (or almost the same) bag. You should check out some of her outfits with it...

Natalie, that is BEYOND brilliant match-making!

As to what else to do with Dotty 0.2, how about pairing her with Milu? Or with your blue polka-dot shirt (? or am i dreaming of something else)? Or with the First Lady dress? Orange should go great with Dotty too. And how about the new Kate Spade dress --- would that be a similar shade of white?

    Love, love, love

Love the whole subtly pattern-mixed outfit! I'd think you could wear that bag with so many outfits. It would provide a pop of pattern against just about any solid color, and I'd love to see some bolder pattern-mixing with it too.

matchy matchy is right! I love it on you and Rita. :)

That must be one of the most visually interesting neutral outfits EVER. Very pretty.

I know this post is about Dotty - but I'm squealing because I finally get to see those pumps on someone. I drooled over them but just couldn't justify adding them to my shoe wardrobe right now, but hoped someone would feature them on YLF. :)

LOVE the pattern mixing, the clean black and white... sophistication AND fun!
