WIW 4/4-6: Orange loafers (aka the sky is falling!)

My style is so ladylike that I never thought that I would be wearing a tomboy look like boyfriend jeans and loafers! The sky must be falling!

I got these orange loafers from a recommendation on Pinterest Told Me To (same lady that I did the blardigan copycat on). I feel like the loafers are so loud that they tend to go best with relatively subdued outfits like #1 and #17. The outfit in #14 is kind of pushing my ALGO comfort level! But I still like doing matchy matchy, so even with relatively simple outfits I like to pair the orange pendant with the orange loafers, and the leopard print on the necklace echoes the matching leopard print belt and leopard print bracelet. These loafers are really comfy for MOTGGG (mom on the go go go) (7-9)...I had to ferry them to two different birthday parties, park, chess, ballet and took the two older ones to a school play (Peter Pan) that evening (10-13) while DH was out of town.

What do you think about the loafers? Are they too masculine for my style? They're kind of a fun change from my usual ballet flats!

The outfit in #19-21 is actually from the day before #1. I think it's amusing that it follows the same color/print formula with the white, blue, orange and leopard! I wore #19 to work and funny story, one of the other male doctors who likes to wear brightly colored pants (I guess you could say he's a bit of a fashionisto?) was wearing a light blue chambray shirt and rust colored trousers. We were twins that day! Hahaha.

1. Pleione white mixed media blouse, Kut Catherine boyfriend jeans, Michael Kors orange loafers, Alexis Bittar orange leopard pendant, Longchamp tote, leopard belt and bracelet

10. Kate Spade everything: Japanese floral sheath, floral satchel, ruffle trench, and silver pumps

14. Tommy Bahama turquoise silk shirt, H&M floral pants, Kate Spade floral satchel, seahorse necklace, TB starfish bracelet, MK loafers

17. Pleione black blouse, AG skinny jeans, floral satchel, MK loafer, gold leaf necklace from hospital jewelry trunk show

19. Banana Republic blue striped shirt, Dorothy Perkins white jacket, AG orange skinny cords, Stuart Weitzman leopard ballet flats, Kate Spade tortoiseshell glasses pendant, F21 orange bracelet (my favorite bracelet, which broke when I dropped it---wahhh!!!)

I am not sure how bright orange loafers with gold bling could be considered masculine.  In fact, I'd feel all girled up in them!  Yes, this works,.  It's fun and stylish and casual but not sloppy.  Go you!

Also, your MOTG makes me dizzy - I can't believe how much you do with your kids.  We do comp league basketball and ski as a family and that is it.  Otherwise, I'm all "Here's some paper and scissors, I'm reading, buh-bye."  Mom-On-the-Go-Away?

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Well, I'm definitely "go away kids" when I'm on YLF... ;)

And Una, I could totally see Dr. Fashionisto wearing these orange loafers..maybe he is my male alter ego!

My head is spinning just reading about how busy you are. Those loafers are great! And as usual - those children of yours are too cute.

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Pil, maybe I'm gravitating toward simpler outfits (I prefer 1 over 14) because my life is so chaotic!

  • AviaMariah replied 10 years ago

I love how you've styled them. They don't look masculine to me at all.

I love the loafers - and actually think they're quite feminine.  Bright orange (and yellow) may be the flavors of summer for me this year.  And I'm absolutely drooling over your outfit in pics 1-9!  This is an inspiration outfit for me.  :-)

How about splitting the difference and wearing the shirt in #1 with the pants in #14? Those are some great pants :)

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

I think you have made the bf jeans look totally you with the orange loafers. Also what Una said. I want a "mother on the go away" tee!

I'm dying over the beauty of #10.

I don't read the loafers as masculine, nice color!

I'll admit these aren't my personal cup of tea, and maybe that's why I like them best in #1.  The simple backdrop of the outfit lets them be the focal point.  And I can't get past how much I like the Pleoine blouse on you.  I tried it and it felt weirdly tentlike right around my hips.  Must be a body type thing.

  • DonnaF replied 10 years ago

I love those H&M floral pants on you, so I'm glad you're getting a wear in while DH is out of town!  I have that Pleione blouse too, but in other colors.  Doesn't it feel like wearing jammies?  I am still learning to make peace with the crease (factor), however.

Well, I'm probably not the one to get into the niceties of girly vs. androgynous style, but let me tell you, you look amazing in all of these! I especially LOVE #1 -- that is totally up my alley and really looks perfect for your (unbelievably ) busy day. (Argh...I can barely keep up with one almost self-monitoring teen...how do you manage with three little ones???). I also love the shoes with the floral pants.

  • rae replied 10 years ago

LOVE the new loafers! Killer in #1 and #17. Wahoo!!

  • columbine(erin) replied 10 years ago

You are inspiring as a busy mama with fab style! Haha and I have a similar baby carrier that gets a lot of use.

  • AJ replied 10 years ago

It's always a pleasure to see you having fun with fashion!

I actually like the new loafers best in #14, but you know I'm on team ALGO.

My favorite is the complete Kate Spade outfit. That dress with the silver pumps...so pretty!

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

I am dizzy with all the fabness! Your first outfit is just drop dead gorgeous! I love the crisp White and blue combo with the orange loafers! Such a fun color for loafers! Not masculine ... Just cool chic :).

All your outfits are stellar and your kids are too cute for words!

  • harmonica replied 10 years ago

I love, love, love #1! The orange loafers are fun and fashionable. Lovely white blouse too.  I love orange - can orange the new neutral?

  • leopardluxe replied 10 years ago

I love all these looks and the orange loafers look fantastic every way you've styled them. I'm especially partial to the orange styled with the leopard belt and BF jeans. (Admittedly, I have a deep love for both orange and leopard. So I'm probably a pretty biased opinion in that regard).

  • Emily replied 10 years ago

You look so fun and pretty in all of these!  Your styling and colour choices makes these tomboy pieces totally feminine and a new kind of ladylike.  The cognac belt is a perfect accent!  The Kate Spade outfit just tickles me, I love the print.   And in the last outfit the combination of blue, cream and orange is just delicious.  Lovely :)

Outfit #1 just blows me away Natalie - love it from top of your beautiful head down to your fabulous orange toes! I wouldn't change a thing in this outfit. I really REALLY like the orange loafers and don't find them too masculine for your style at all.

  • texstyle replied 10 years ago

More loafer love here - and what rae said. Great MOTG outfits!

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

I love a bright coral shoe for me too, and wow, love these loafers a lot!!! my fave is nr 1, but all are more than sophisticated! YLF as always, Natalie!
