WIW 5/21-22: Missoni and Bee blouses--YLF paper doll group project

Here are two work outfits that were created by the lovely ladies of YLF. I solicited outfit requests/suggestions in this thread:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....fit-for-me

And I tried out some of the recommendations for casual looks here:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....et-w-skirt

And another suggestion for work here:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....paper-doll

I got a lot of requests for the Missoni for Target blouses and the EmersonMade Bee blouse, so I tried to combine all of the suggestions for each blouse into a single outfit. It's interesting that each suggested outfit was different and yet I could see the style of the person who recommended it in the outfit suggestion--I could totally see them wearing that combination. I think it was a lot of fun to synthesize all the various recommendations into a new outfit, that still feels very me! A successful YLF group project!

PS I am trying out a new spot for self-timer pics. What do you think, is this any better than my usual mirror pics? I feel like the lighting is a bit off. And i had to crop and color correct the pics, so it's a little more work than the mirror pics. Which looks better, #5 (bathroom w/ self timer) or #6 (closet mirror)?

1-4. Rita suggested pairing Dotty with the Missoni blouse. Velvetychocolate recommended white jeans, but I went with ivory instead to match Dotty. Aren't the fishbow pumps and Dotty a match made in heaven? So are Dotty and the Kate Spade trench (the black buttons echo the polka dots on the bag). And which topper do you prefer: Tulle raspberry blazer or Kate Spade Topliner trench?

Missoni for Target floral blouse
AG ivory skinny jeans
All Black Fishbow pumps
Marc by Marc Jacobs Dotty snake bag
Tulle raspberry blazer
Kate Spade Topliner trench

5-8. MaryK (who is my bee blouse twin) suggested pairing the bee blouse with the yellow rose Anthro skirt (which Manidipa also wanted to see). Zap suggested pairing the blouse with the cognac jacket. I added turquoise earrings to echo the turquoise clutch Zap had also suggested, but of course I had to break out my new yellow bag instead! Diana and Zap also suggested wearing the ankle boots. And Diana also suggested a belt, so I went with her favorite leaf belt. I really like the combination of bees, flowers and leaves in this outfit...what a fun theme! Hope the pussy bow blouse, midi skirt and ankle bootie combination doesn't look too dowdy on me...I think I can still get away with the 70's librarian look if it's intentional, right? :)

EmersonMade bees and crowns pussybow blouse
Anthro yellow and blue floral midi skirt
Lafayette 148 cognac leather jacket (I just love wearing leather jackets as blazers! It was getting a bit warm to wear this but I did anyways)
Anthro leaf belt
Mia Nanette brown ankle boots
Dooney & Bourke yellow satchel
Turquoise drop earrings

I like #3 with the raspberry jacket - it really brings the vibe "up" from casual. Nice floral with the oxfords as well.
But I really just love the bee blouse and patterned skirt - so perfect together. Everything about this outfit is fantastic!
How fun that you are a human paperdoll with YLF suggestions :)

You have such a ladylike vibe! I love the mix of patterns here, especially with the dotty bag. It would feel twee on me, but on you it's just so pretty.

Really pretty. Thank you for humoring my suggestion. I love that bee blouse!

I love that raspberry jacket! Gorgeous! The colours look great on my screen!

I really like both outfits - so fun! Thanks for being our 'virtual paper doll' :) Love the Missoni for Target blouse with the raspberry blazer, and the second outfit with the bee blouse is fab with the caramel jacket. :)

What great suggestions you had here.I like both toppers for the first outfit, and those fishbowl pumps keep calling me although they don't go with my lifestyle.
    Also love the second look.
You have a fun wardrobe to play around with.

1,3, and 5 are instant classics. I love how these turned out!! How about dotty with the hectic geometric floral? Aren't they just a perfect graphic match? I would wear stricter shoes to go with the modern graphic vibe. What a fun project!!

Wow - I never would have thought to pair our fishbow pumps with the white jeans, but it totally works thanks to Dotty. I absolutely LOVE pic #3! Hmmm....need to see if I can duplicate...

The outfits looks great! I love the Missoni pattern.

I think the pics taken with the timer looks great as well.

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

These are amazing, Natalie! Both outfits are off the charts. Excellent use of color and pattern mixing, but very approachable and flattering.

  • lyn* replied 11 years ago

3 and 4 are my favourites - and you know I love that bee blouse!

  • rae replied 11 years ago

It takes a village to raise the perfect outfit! I really like how Dotty pattern mixes with the Missoni blouse yet still stands out. Sometimes pattern mixing is not high contrast enough for me, but this is great! Also can't get over the new yellow bag with the rose skirt.

3 and 5 are fabulous! Brilliant to put the bee blouse and flowered skirt together. That is my favorite of your skirts anyway. I prefer the blazer with the floral blouse and dotty bag, as the buttons on the trench cause a little more dottiness than my eyes enjoy, but either way, very nice.

My comment on the photos is, the self timer in the bathroom did a great job. They are clearer to me, probably because the distortion of the mirror is gone. The color is good, also. Sorry if it's more work, but really better pics.
