WIW 5/24,27,28: Stopping traffic with Halogen pencil skirts

Hee hee! Just having fun with the title. I just acquired a green Halogen pencil skirt on sale, and realized that my collection of Halogen pencil skirts now resembles a traffic light: red, yellow and green! And so I wore all of them this week, in that order.

1-3. Red. Paired with Tahari black leather jacket, Classiques Entier ruched teal and black ruffled tank, and Fossil red diamond satchel. I wore it with leopard ballet flats in #3 to work, but realized that I should have worn it with my B Makowsky Heist red-trimmed leopard heels instead. So I retook the outfit pic, and DD joined in wearing my turquoise pumps!

4-6. Yellow. I can't remember if I've done this combo before, but I wore it with the White House Black Market ink blue jacket, Classiques Entier multi-color striped pussy bow tank, Dooney & Bourke yellow satchel, and Clarks brown pumps. With my shades on, I felt like a glamorous '70's airline stewardess! (Waving at Claire!)

7-10. Green. I couldn't resist after seeing MaryK rock this skirt and when it became available in my size (esp with the sale price), I pounced! Wore it with the Anthro Lemon Liftoff yellow owl pussy bow blouse, yellow D&B satchel and turquoise KS pumps. The cat was curiously eyeing the new shoes. I copied the Anthro catalog picture, swapping out green skirt for green pants and turquoise pumps for turquoise loafers. I even got DD to take a pic of me on a chair copying the pose. I'm waiting to see MaryK's version as she mentioned she was going to try this combo too!

As for the shoes, they are OK but not great comfort wise. They don't kill my feet, but they're not as comfortable as my lower heel Clarks and Easy Spirit work pumps (not cushy or padded). Also they didn't slip, but felt as if they were almost about to, so I think I may need some heel grips (the size down was too tight in the toe box, though). I'll still wear them because they're really pretty and will go with a lot of my outfits, but I'm swearing off buying any more heels unless they're under 2 inches and/or known comfort brands. My pre-YLF work pumps are all more comfortable than my post-YLF beautiful statement heels!

Every single one of these outfits is fabulous Natalie, I'm particularly in love with the last outfit with the yellow blouse and turquoise pumps - gorgeous! And girl....you got some LEGS in that pic #9!!!

Ah, that Halogen skirt is SUCH a workhorse! You look terrific in all of these - LOVE the colors.

    ROFL @ pic 9!

So jealous of your rainbow of skirts! You look great in color, and I'm always impressed at how ladylike one can look in brights. I know what you mean about comfort and style re: heels - when a high fashion comfort brand comes out, they will clean up the market!

Natalie, you are such a great sport! Not to mention a brilliant traffic cop! These outfits are all absolutely gorgeous, but I am head over heels (no pun intended) over the moon over #2. WOW!!! I SO love that.

Your shoes are all so pretty. Love the colour of the new ones. But it is such a shame they are not super comfortable.

The green skirt combo is both genius and killer, all rolled into one! The photo with your daughter in your heels is priceless.

These are all fantastic on you, and to me they epitomize your true style. Love the yellow, green and turquoise the best of these especially seeing the inspiration!

You are a pencil skirt queen! How did I miss this skirt in red?! My favorite is the outfit with the green skirt, but they all look wonderful on you.

I wish I could give you a comedy point. I absolutely love how you've imitated the picture. And your legs look a mile long.

I also really like the blue peplum jacket with the yellow skirt. Very nice silhouette.

    Great outfits Natalie.

I love these pencil skirts on you Natalie! What a fab collection you have now. I especially like the 70's stewardess outfit (thanks for the shout out!). Whenever people say, "I don't want to look like a flight attendant!" I always wonder why not? I always thought airline uniforms were super cool and that's why I wanted the job. Now my secret is out.

I absolutely love your turquoise pumps! So fab with green and yellow. Who needs pastels for summer? You have your wardrobe all figured out with these spectacular brights. Very flattering on you, and I love your ladylike vibe. :)

Such a fun collection of outfits...love them all! And I adore the yellow Dooney & Bourke! How did I miss this bag before? I often look at pictures before reading the actual post, and I'm such a Dooney fan that I knew immediately what kind of bag it was before reading your post- lol

With those legs, you can wear any kind of skirt you want- Wow!

  • christieanne replied 11 years ago

I love them all but the green skirt is clearly my favorite - the color blocking is too amazing (and the pose - fab!).

Those skirts are discontinued and all the sales assoc at Nordstrom were mourning the loss of their bestseller. I asked if they had any left and they were sad :(

Love them all, Natalie! Outfit Two is of course my most loved. I have not worn that combo yet but that skirt/jacket pairing is one that I have already "slotted" for my next dog show. That blue pairs so nicely with the yellow...

Photo 9 is a hoot. Love that top!

Every single outfit combo is beyond perfection. I loved your skirts and your hilarious title. Loved your pose in 9. You are the real one the other is fake.
And is that cutie your DD. Oh so cute with those shoes. Girls will be girls after all!!!!!

The yellow and green outfit really stands out Natalie. You look professional, feminine, and alluring. The posed photo by your daughter is so fun! Kids can handle iPhones, cameras, computers -- any thing it seems these days.

  • Sylvie replied 11 years ago

    You wear pencil skirts beautifully.
