WIW 5/25 Blush and navy matchy matchy floral

That thread about what do you admire but can't pull off yourself made me think about pastel and scarves, both of which are not really my thing. Pastels tend to wash out on me because of my coloring and scarves are kind of fussy to deal with. Yet here I am including both of them in an outfit. I had to include my signature matchy matchy with the floral skirt, scarf and purse. And the blush Rockstud knockoff flats to match the sweater. And some whimsy with the bee bracelet. How did I do? Can I pull off pastel and scarves? Also waving to Joy and Skylurker. I'm no good at capsules, but I can do outfits, so add this one to your blush and navy collection!

Everlane sweater, Kate Spade skirt, scarf and bag, Banana Republic bracelet, Halogen flats.

Of course you can pull it off! I really like the skirt and top proportions, too.

    Thumbs up.

Good job addressing items in your dis-comfort zone. LOVE. '50s Retro.

    Thanks Columbine and Angie!

I feel like a bit of an anachronism with my matchy matchy style. Seems like the 1950's was the last time that matchy matchy was fashionable. Is anyone else here into matchy matchy? (Crickets...) I'm holding onto Angie's notion that hypermatchy is back on the catwalks and I'm just ahead of the curve, LOL!

I need another pair of fake rockstuds!

I think you've done well stepping outside of your comfort zone. I really like you in blush. I'm kind of partial to matchy matchy and love how you pull it off with such polish!

    Gorgeous!

It's the Chelsea Flower Show this week and I work nearby.

I wish I was going and if I were, this would be the outfit that I would want to wear! It's a lovely outfit. I like that you've it with pink rather than navy jumper.

You definitely can pull it off!  Question: did you wear the scarf all day?  That's my problem with scarves.  If I actually make it out the door with one one, I usually take it off at some point during the day.  :)

Thanks Sterling, you are too kind!

Rachy, what color do you have? Yes at this price point you need another for sure! I bought the black and the pink. My feet are loving the flats!
Thanks so much Kimlee and Jane! I would love to go to a flower show!

AviaMariah, you hit on my issue with scarves. I have to keep fussing with them and I don't know how to tie them well! Initially I had it tied up kind of infinity style. It may be because it's silky, but it keeps sliding around and one loop gets tight around my neck and the other droops. I've already had to re-tie it three times. So I just changed it to tie once around my neck and have the long ends hanging down in front and behind, but now they both want to be in front. Gah! The only scarf I wear that is pretty fuss free is this knit chunky infinity scarf that is already a loop, so no tying, and it's fluffy enough that it doesn't slide around.

Gorgeous!  I saw a floral on navy at Banana Republic and thought of you.  It comes in several pieces that could be worn together matchy style, so maybe that is the trend.  I love the whimsy of the bee bracelet with the floral.

It sounds like infinity scarves in a non-silky fabric would be easiest for you.  Sometimes I use a tiny piece of fashion tape to hold a scarf where I want it to stay.

Gorgeously matchy! Love this silhouette on you.

This is uber gorgeous. Both the colors and shapes are very flattering on you.

Waving back : hello Goldenpig, you can pull off anything.
It's not anachronic, it's modern retro, if Angie's into it, it can't be anachronic, right?
What I like best about this style is how happy it looks. Don't people smile at you all the time?
I hear you about scarves, I've stopped wearing mine too (and I'm French for God'sake, I might be sent to prison for high treason :)

  • AviaMariah replied 7 years ago

My problem too!  I want to be a scarf gal.  I love the pop of fun color and pattern.  Like you the only ones I wear successfully are the infinity knit scarves in the winter when I don't mind the extra layers for warmth sake. But you look fab!

I love the scarf and all the matching pieces. I've been noticing a lot of ultra match looks in the media lately.
