WIW 6/7: Ink blue jacket & KS turquoise clutch/pumps-ETA blouse tucked

New combination of old favorites:

Anne Fontaine white double collar blouse
White House Black Market ink blue jacket
Anthro Liquid Acres print pencil skirt
Kate Spade turquoise jewel clutch
Kate Spade turquoise pumps
Turquoise glass bead earrings

I really like how the skirt ties everything together as it has white, ink blue and turquoise in the pattern! And of course the matchiness of the purse and pumps. But is it too ALGO or dramatic with the double collar on top of the ruffled collar blue jacket and big white cuffs?

Interested to see what you will think! Thanks for your comments!

ETA: Added pics of the blouse tucked into the jacket and a close-up of the skirt, shoes and bag. I think it looks pretty different with the blouse tucked--more streamlined and emphasizes the double collar in a different way. Slightly less ALGO. I think I like it both ways...which one do you prefer?

Great individual pieces, but I do find the collar of the jacket competing with the double color of the blouse. They look like they are fighting each other...maybe tuck the blouse collar underneath?

    I love the colors!

Very nice and pulled together. I love the mixture of blues. I also do like the different collar shapes layered. I think they look fun.

It is ALGO but I don't think it's bad. Love the skirt and jacket together and the turquoise pop of color in accessories.

gp, when I see the full photo in #1, I don't think the collar competes in any way and I love the way your beautiful white AF peeks out at the top of the jacket and sleeves. Oh, that KS clutch is gorgeous, as is the entire outfit. Love!

Love these colors on you! I think the collar + collar is a matter of personal preference, you know? For some, too much going on, for others, perfectly harmonious!

This outfit is way towards one end of the minimal - ALGO spectrum, but you like it there, right?
For me there are too many points of interest. I love the pattern in the skirt, but the shoes distracted me, but I didn't spend long looking at them because the clutch has pattern and color. I love each piece but I wish one of them were a calming influence, instead of more interest. That might just be me though :)

Thanks everyone! Hee hee Fern, it definitely is an ALGO day today! Isis, I tried tucking the collar in and it gives a very different vibe--more minimal. Will post pics when I get home to see if people like that better.

I agree the collar look is personal preference - I wouldn't wear it but I like it on you, and the ink blue jacket is a superstar! Great outfit.

I'm a sucker for elaborate necklines, and I don't think these fight to my eye, because the Vs are at the same angle, regardless of the layers and ruffles. Love!

I like everything about this outfit - I love details and visual interest and although there is definitely a lot of it in this outfit, to my eye, it all works together. I love the double layered collar because the shapes do not compete. I also really like the tonal look from the cobalt blue jacket to the turquoise pumps to the slightly lighter turquoise clutch. Brilliant!

Love this. I think it is one of my favorites for you. I like the color combo, proportion and the white turned back cuffs. Very pretty GP.

I L-O-V-E love this! So cute. I have coveted that skirt for a good while and I am inspired by the shirt/jacket pairing. I may have to copy this look! (At least on top, I don't have a cool skirt like that.) It's ALGO, but in the best way ever. I'm a sucker for well done ALGO looks.

So pretty! The collars work for me...

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

I don't mind the collars a bit. And yes, there is a lot going on, but the blues keep it from feeling like too much, to my eye. Blues and white are restful. Such lovely pieces. You know I adore that jacket. But I also love the skirt.

If you are in the mood for ALGO, those collars look great together to my eye! I can see how tucking them in would create a nice streamlined look as well. I think it's up to you and how you're feeling today. Great outfit Natalie!

Creative, well thought out outfit. It is a real head turner and I am in love with your turquoise clutch.

  • goldenpig replied 11 years ago

Thanks everyone for the compliments! I added pics of the blouse tucked in the original post for comparison--slightly less ALGO. Which do you prefer?

The turquoise pumps are real attention getters--always lots of compliments when I wear them!

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

I prefer tucked in. But it's really just a personal preference.

Oh, nice Natalie! That skirt is my kind of print; look at all the colors it gives you *permission* to wear in one outfit--LOVE IT! I like the shirt collars tucked in. Very sleek and streamlined Demure Bombshell. :)

Ooh with the collar tucked you have an architectural chevron effect, really cool! I still think you could wear it either way, depending on what you're in the mood for.
