WIW 6/8: Red Leopard

The red-trimmed leopard heels were asking to come out and play again, and what better match than my red draped-waist dress? I feel very retro glam--my demure bombshell side is having fun today! I wore it with my leopard necklace (secret Santa gift from Lisa) to match, and my brown glasses to go with the red/brown theme, and a swipe of red lipstick (Clinique Black Honey).

None of my purses seemed to fit exactly right, so I pulled out this little tortoiseshell color handbag. It's ancient...I got it one day when I was at a spa for a massage many years ago--they had some handmade gifts and this cute little number called out to me. It has brown and yellow tiles on it--kind of matches the leopard spots, so it's perfect. It's too small to be practical though (doesn't even hold my wallet), so I am bringing my brown briefcase to work as well. It doesn't have quite the same impact though. I'll just keep the purse on my desk to have fun looking at it.

Adrianna Papell red draped jersey dress from TJ Maxx
Leopard secret Santa necklace from Macy's (gift from Lisa)
B Makowsky Heist red-trimmed leopard heels
Handmade tortoiseshell color tile purse
Jack Georges brown leather briefcase

This is a smashing outfit Natalie! I love that dress on you - very flattering colour and fit. And your accessories all play so well with the dress. Adore that handbag!

Holy smokes, this is one glamorous MD outfit. First time I've seen you in dramatic lipstick - really suits the bombshell vibe here. And yes, it does make you look older (in a positive way)! The bag is darling - but how hilarious that you can't actually put anything in it - LOL! Enjoy the compliments I'm sure you'll receive in spades today!

Those shoes are perfect with that dress! I bet you'll be looking down at them and smiling all day long. I love the tiled handbag; to bad it's so small. Your black doctor bag might look nice with this outfit too. Are there black spots on the shoes? That necklace is amazing on you, perfect for filling up the neckline. You had a great Secret Santa!

This is beautiful! This looks a lot like the dress Jeneva was looking at, though not the same brand. You rock the dresses and red is a great color on you.

  • Vicki replied 7 years ago

What size is this one and did you size up, down or was it true to size? Thanks, gp!

Thanks Shannon, Helen, Claire, Lyn, Shu, Harmonica, Una, Fern, Jonesy, Jewell, Beth Ann, Sona, Andrea, Mary, Debbie, Kiwichick, Vicki & Cheryl for the kind compliments!

Claire, good suggestion, I think the black doctor bag would be a good choice to match it too. Yes, there are black spots on the animal print heels. Actually my wallet does fit inside the little tile purse, but then it won't snap shut.

Harmonica, when I was wearing this combo one of my patients said to me, "You're having fun with fashion, aren't you?" and I said, "Yes I am!" Maybe she's a secret YLF'er!

Vicki, I know, I know, I feel the same way when I hear about all the super fab thrift finds that Claire, Shannon etc. seem to find. How come I never find anything good in the consignment/thrift stores? The dress is a size 6 which is my typical dress size (I'm usually size 4 for tops and pants and 6 for skirts and dresses) so I would say it runs true to size. I found the dress online at Nordstrom (but it's full price at $138 there--I got it for $40 at TJMaxx):
    Hope that helps!
