WIW 7/1: MOTG denim skirt plus leggings and sneakers to the fair

Waving at Harmonica, who inspired me to try this casual MOTG denim skirt plus leggings and sneakers look (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....rt-leggins) which is a new combo for me. It was a little hot to be wearing the cardigan but I wanted the red to match the sneakers. And the dotty bag to match the dotty blouse. The denim pencil skirt was a little more constrictive than I'd like for MOTG, but at least with the leggings I could get down and pet the goats with the kids. I wore this black hat with white ribbon to keep the sun off my face but DH says he hates the hat because it reminds him of Blossom (from the 90's sitcom). I had to look up "Blossom hat" but hmmm...maybe he does have a point! Should I get rid of the hat? And be honest--do I look like a bag lady? Now that I look at the pics maybe I do look a bit silly with the hat and all the different layers! Maybe I really am channeling Blossom (see pic #10)! But oh well, I had lots of fun with the family at the county fair!

INC red cascading cardigan
Casual Couture black and white polka dot top
Anthro denim pencil skirt
Nike black capri leggings
Marc by Marc Jacobs dotty snake bag
Red Converse (I just bought some lower ankle socks for next time)
Big Buddha black straw hat with white ribbon from DSW

1-2. Organic Fresh Squeezed Lemonade--my annual fair tradition!
3. Fire truck--the kids loved climbing up on it
4-6. Petting zoo--so hard to corral the kids and the goats into one picture!
7. Merry go Round
8. Listening to the bands
9-10. "Blossom hats"

PS I had fun dressing the kids in matching Tea outfits!

What a fun fair outfit. I really enjoy the red sneakers and cardigan. Just lovely!

I like this outfit - it's fun and fresh! And that is so *not* a blossom hat - it needs to be floppier and have a giant flower. (I totally wanted to be her when I was like 10, by the way).

The only think I might change would be the cardi - I love the color but I think it might be a smidge too long for the skirt.

So fun that you tried this out!! I'm really humble to have inspired you. I like this outfit and I think you have made it coherent by choosing black, red and white that echo (and bookends) each other. The blue(?) denim skirt is a dark neutral and goes well with the other colours.

The hat is fun, but IMO I think that it may be better with a dress or paired with something that is not so attention drawing as the red cardi. Love the red colour

OMG the kitty carousel seat!!!! I want it in my living room!!!

Ahem. Ok, I'm normal again now.

I don't think the hat looks like Blossom... maybe if it had a giant sunflower glued on the side, but to me it just looks like a sun hat. *shrug* The outfit is ALGO, but I like the riot of layers and color. I guess the DH is more of a strong and simple style guy?

Ah - enlightening Rae said it.. ALGO, yes, that's what got me on the thought if skipping the hat. I don't know Blossom, but your hat does not look like any of those in the pic

ETA: and so nice famimly photos! You must have had a great time and I guess the kids loved it all

This looks like such a wonderful and fun family outing! I love the outfit on you but I do wonder if the cardi might be a little long with that skirt! The hat is cute but I am used to seeing your beautiful hair!

Such a cute MOTG outfit Natalie! I like all the layers, but think it would work just as well without the red cardigan if it's too warm for it (having the red shoes be the only red would be cute, too). The hat doesn't look like a Blossom hat to me (I laughed when I read that ^^), but maybe a plain straw hat would be more to hubby's taste? My husband is pretty anti-hat too but I have a straw cowboy hat that passes muster.
