WIW 7/10-12: Matchy matchy, Chanel style--Miss Scarlet and Little Miss Scarlet! ;D

I'm so glad you all approved my birthday Chanel purse--I've worn it nonstop since I got it! I'm in love with this purse! I love the color and how easy it is to get into the purse one-handed while it's on your shoulder--the front pocket falls open but the stuff doesn't fall out. And the chain is really neat--you can convert quickly from double to single chain and back just by pulling on it. It's just the right size for my stuff, and very practical. I even fit a couple diapers and wipes inside (Is it sacrilege to use a Chanel as a diaper bag? They were clean!). This very well may turn me into a monogamous bag lady! OK--well maybe not really, but this is a new record for me--4 days in a row! CPW is already below $700, LOL! But seriously, I think could get this down to $10 CPW in a year or two easily.

On my birthday my sister and niece and I went to H&M as well, so I got this red polka dot shirt and heart necklace from them. I like the necklace because it has 3 hearts, one for each of my kids. I'm on Team Wear, so I wore it the next day along with my boyfriend jeans and sassy sneakers. The bracelet matches the chain on the purse, and the studs on the silver belt match the studs on my wedge sneakers. I had to take DS2 to the doctor to get his shots. He is 85th percentile for weight and 15th for height, LOL. He's a round little Buddha baby! After I picked up DD from camp DD asked me, "Mom, are you going to pass down that purse to me?" I said "What?!" (Is she thinking of that already?) I said, "Maybe someday." She said, "How about when I'm (12-year-old cousin)'s age?" I laughed and said she would have to be very very good.

We had lunch at the mall and stopped by Forever 21. Well, wouldn't you know it--I managed to find a little version of my red purse for DD! They look remarkably similar--color, quilting, flap, chain handle and all! DD was thrilled, and so was I! You know how much I love doing matchy matchy with DD! So here we are--Miss Scarlet and Little Miss Scarlet! We even took a picture together next to a golden pig statue (I took my moniker from DD, because she was born in the year of the Golden Pig). That night I also tried to do a matchy matchy picture with the kids and their dolls, but DS2 wasn't having any part of it--he was cranky from the shots. Plus I gave all 3 of them my cold :( I feel so bad for them--usually it's the other way around.

The next two outfits were for work--one black and white dress and one colorful one. Pretty minimalist for me, but I didn't need a whole lot going on with this statement accessory. Red really is a neutral--my first bag was a red Fossil tote and I wore it with everything. Hope you won't sick of seeing this purse, because you're going to see it a lot! Thanks for encouraging me to keep it! I think I will enjoy this so much more than a watch or jewelry. I love purses, and this is my all time favorite!

Hehe, you'd better get an electrified fence for your closet - DD will surely be raiding it before you know it!

Miss Scarlet is totally fitting into your wardrobe effortlessly! I can see you wearing her with almost anything. You are right that red is a neutral. And how amazing to find a Little Ms. Scarlet, too!

I second Rae. dD is going to be raiding your closet before you know it!

Miss Scarlet looks so fab on you! And a a bargain at $700 CPW. :). Seriously, though, you will have this for a long time!

LOL Rae and Thistle, DD and DS1 already raid my closet! They love to clomp around in my turquoise Kate Spade pumps and other high heels.

I was returning stuff to J Crew and told the SA that I had found a purse exactly like mine for DD and she said, "Well, not EXACTLY the same..."
    But surprisingly close!

Thirding the guard fence. :)  How sweet that your DD is so happy with her matching purse.   I don't think we're going to get tired of seeing Miss Scarlet - she's beautiful.

OMG, DS2 is the cutest little roley-poley little guy I've ever seen! He is almost stealing the thunder from Miss Scarlet and Lil' Miss Scarlet, but not quite.

I'm so glad to hear that you're keeping and loving your new bag. She looks perfect with everything and surprisingly unassuming. Love that you're sticking to your high-low roots by mixing her with the likes of that H&M top. That way she won't get conceited (talking about the bag still, lol)! I love her with the two dresses you wore to work as well. Just gorgeous. Glad you placated DD with a "reasonable facsimile". Smart move. :)

Fantabulous bag!!  No wonder DD wanted her own!  You're looking very fabulous yourself AND very put together -- which impresses me no end as you are toting around that little guy and kept busy keeping up with the mobile ones!

Speaking of him - your littlest one is such a cherub :-)

I'm so glad you decided to keep this purse - it looks like a wonderful addition to your life :)

I think it's so cute that your DD wants a similar purse too!

I didn't get a chance to comment on your earlier thread but I just love this handbag for you. What a great choice for a milestone birthday. Your little "mini me" looks adorable too.

  • nancylee replied 10 years ago

SO glad you're in love with your birthday bag.  It looks sensational!  And so adorable that your daughter has her own "mini-me" version.

Your family is so incredibly cute!  I love seeing their photos.

WOW, GP can't find my words what a fab mom of 3 and lovely owner of MsScarlet you are! Love your DD's  matchy miss little Scarlet,  too:-)

This purse is going to be with you a long time! How fun you were able to find one for your daughter!

  • Ginkgo replied 10 years ago

The color and size of this bag are perfect for you.  I'm so impressed that you're on Team Wear and have her out and about with you so quickly.  I'm afraid I'd put her on my shelf and then just admire her.  Love the matchy matchy photos with your daughter.

This is all just ridiculously fab, from Miss Scarlet to DD's copycat to everybody with their babies adorable Mr. No. 3!  You are starting your 40s in grand style! :)

ETA:  NOBODY rocks a red lip like you!!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I love the mini bag for your "mini-me"!  Your outfits are beautiful and your children are gorgeous!

  • catgirl replied 10 years ago

Speechless with the fabness of it all.  SO CUTE!  And the bag is seriously TDF in your closet.

  • Hil replied 10 years ago

Oh my word - all those photos are just fab. Your little Buddha is adorable and your dd is just the prettiest! I love that you found her matching bag because I'm pretty sure you won't be parting with such fabness anytime soon!

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

Wow, the Chanel bag truly goes with everything!  And the F21 knock off is quite similar, DD wears it with style.  Your DD takes after you while I really see your DH in DS2.  Thanks as always for sharing the lovely family pictures Natalie.

Great bag!  I'm glad you're finding it so easy to incorporate into your outfits.  Your weight/height percentages made me laugh because both my babies were the opposite - 95% height, 50% weight.  I thought they looked like little monkeys.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

OK, your Miss Scarlet is safe for a moment but it would not be long before DD learns the difference between them...you better start on that fence ASAP! :-)
Seriously though I think you got the best possible present for yourself. This is a timeless purse and it fits your lifestyle and you love it - winner all around!

Amazing: amazing bag, amazing Buddha baby, amazing mini-bag for DD (my girls would say the same thing - they plan to take everything I own once they are big enough), amazing outfits!

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

OMG. You have a mini me! That is too awesome.

I can't believe how cute you look with a Chanel purse (as does DD). I could never look that cute with one. I'd just look old and start to smell like old lipstick. It's so crazy!
