WIW 7/16: The Lady In Red

I'm experimenting with different looks using the same red purse. Today's style may not look that radical, but is new to me--monochromatic head to toe and no patterns at all (except the tile bracelet and quilting on the purse). What do you think? I've got that darn 80's schmaltzy song (Lady in Red) running in my head...brings back bad memories of junior high dances where the girls were all on one side of the room and the boys on the other and if you were slow dancing it was shuffling awkwardly to this song. ;)

BTW this dress is my favorite dress for apples--it hides everything!

Ralph Lauren red dress from TJ Maxx

Tommy Bahama red bracelet

WHBM red necklace

Chanel red purse

Clarks red pumps (I need a brighter red pair of pumps!)

ETA: Added a pic of me with the kids at soccer--I went there after work. It's official--I've turned into my mom (she was always overdressed for everything!)

I love your matchy-matchy impulses. I agree, you need brighter shoes! Aren't you glad you bought that purse?

We always called that style of slow dancing where you barely move your feet the "high school shuffle".  I like all the red together.  Very bold!

I quite like the monochromatic pattern-less outfit on you. It's definitely different for you, but just as great as your more ALGO outfits.

That purse is going to be down in CPW in no time!

I think it looks great on you. Sexy yet elegant. And you can vary with bags, shoes and accessories. One day all in red, then with white and blue or with yellow to name a few things. You just have to change a couple of things and have a different look.
    Good buy,
    Greetje

Natalie, is your camera red??  You take matching to an extreme - in a good way. :)

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Haha Sylvie, yes my camera is red too! I love extreme matchiness, so even though I usually don't do all solids, this is still very matchy matchy me!

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

Fabulous!  I love your matchy-matchy ways.  You look terrific, and I just love that dress!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

Beautiful. Yes you need red shoes...maybe patent or suede for the texture. Until you find some, how about your turquoise pumps with this?

I love that you are finding so many uses for your new purse!!

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

now did you go to work like this?

    without a lab coat?

    "plonk"

    patients fainting

    not from versed/fentanyl

    but the "lady in red"!!!!!!!!!!

    :)

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Sona, you crack me up! Yes, I am at work in this. I never wear a lab coat. I know this is way overdressed but life's too short to avoid wearing pretty dresses!
    At this moment, I am
    -pumping
    -eating a taco
    -checking YLF
-and I have to go in 1 minute to go do procedures!

You look fabulous in red, Natalie, and should wear as much of it as you want!
    Love your new purse, btw!

  • Gabrielle replied 10 years ago

You literally took my breath away.

As a side note, I always notice and appreciate your purses. I don't always get the time to comment, but I look at them every single day.  Your purses are my all time favorite.

  • lyn* replied 10 years ago

YAY! This dress is TOO PRETTY to hide behind a white coat!

  • Kyle replied 10 years ago

Stunning, stunning, stunning. OMG. You are a real life superwoman.

  • goldenpig replied 10 years ago

Thanks so much everyone! You are so sweet!

    everything!) ;)

It's ok to be overdressed for everything--the only negative is making the other moms jealous of how fab you look! This is definitely a "lady in red" dress, a timeless classic! I do agree that the shoes could be improved, and the right shoes can give this classic dress a trendy urban look... I am partial to very funky shoes, like Miss L'Fire, but there are a lot of great shoes online on sale right now... These Rocket Dog heels have the nautical trend going on, whereas these wedges are spicy-bohemian-funky--I think both would look great, but two very different styles... Thanks for the inspiration!

I love this monochromatic look on you. And with it being all red, you don't lose any of your style boldness.

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Love this, even with the (no so bright) shoes:-)

  • Marthe replied 10 years ago

    This dress is stunning!

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous dress (and color) on you.  And yay for not letting your pretty frock sit in the closet.

  • No Fear of Fashion replied 10 years ago

VernieJane: making somebody jealous just by looking good, is somebody elses problem, isn't it? Beside, jealousy is an ugly thing.
And I agree: it is far better to be overdressed than underdressed. Every day you are healthy is a party. So celebrate.
