WIW 7/25: NAS leather skater midi skirt (Vans or Munro?)

Which shoes do you like better for this outfit and why?
I liked the look of the Vince suede slip ons, but the Vans were cheaper and I like the retro-ness of the original. But are they OK to wear to work? I kind of like the skater vibe of the flared leather skirt with Vans, but not sure if it works.
Thanks!

Hm, not sure about Vans to work, but I am normally conservative when it comes to work. I DO like the look of the Vans and enjoy the play on the "skater" theme with the skirt and sneaks.

I prefer whatever you're wearing in pic 1. I think that the cutouts in the bootie help "lighten up" the outfit, which has a lot of dark colors, and I also think that the longer length of the skirt looks better with heels. (I think the shoes in pic 1 are heels?)

I think it looks more work appropriate with the Munros. IKWYM about the retro look of the Vans but they are super casual shoes to my eye. I'm curious what others think--it could just be an age thing (my age, not yours.) I associate Vans with my kids and that probably skews my opinion. I went to the Dr. yesterday and I commented on my my Dr.s cool shoes--I wonder what I would have thought if she was wearing Vans slip ons? On the plus side, the rest of your outfit is immaculate so I imagine the shoes might be fine. How's that for a non-commital answer?

ETA: I think Vans has a perforated leather slip on too. Maybe those will look less casual. Just a thought.

Well I actually like both! The booties in the first pic are a wee bit dressier and as Gigi pointed out, lightens up the outfit a bit. But I adore the sporty luxe version with the Vans. I say go with your gut on this one and enjoy!

I prefer the first outfit, especially for work purposes. But I do like the checked Vans (especially since I owned a white/black checked pair back in 1982 or so!) and think you should keep them rather than expensive copies.

I like the checked one more (not sure which brand it is), but I'm not sure either is work appropriate. To be completely honest, I think I'd feel a bit funny if I went in for a regular doctor's appointment (not a procedure) & my doctor was wearing skater sneaks. I'm sure I'd get over it quickly as long as the doctor acted competent & professional, but that initial impression would have a hint of skepticism in it.

Is there a version that has a black sole instead of white? I think it's the contrast that makes it immediately clear that it's a very casual sneaker.

I also think outfit #1 is more work appropriate, particularly in your setting. For a more casual, arty work environment, #2 would work.

I love the skirt and I love it with the shoes in pic 1.

I have a massive poison eye for the Vans in pic 2.  I would definitely save them for the weekend.

#1 is killer for work. #2 is great for NON-work settings. xo

Thanks all! I'm wearing #1 to work right now. I'll try to find a more casual outfit for the Vans...thanks for your help!
