WIW: Sweater dress

Hi guys, I know it's only been a week, but I missed you a lot! I'm trying to find a balance of how much time to spend. So just a short post this time. Here's a black and white sweater dress--first time wearing one since the 80's! It's a Calvin Klein and I found it on sale for $63 at Nordstrom online. What do you think? I know it's very somber and monochromatic compared to my usual style, but combined with my black obi belt and herringbone tights and black boots and black ruffle trench I feel pretty kick-@$$ in it! ;-)

Missed you! Love the collar of that dress, and the drape of it is wonderful. No lumps, which is hard to do with a sweater dress IMO. Killer for sure!

So happy to hear you are going to strike a balance. Smart lady!

The belted sweater dress is amazing. It is so flattering. You could pop a LS black T under it once it gets colder. I LOVE this on you. It is not somber at all. Totally Fab.
Welcome back, my sister MOTG, you are looking wonderful today. Have a great day!

Welcome back - it's good to see you here again and good to hear that you and DH are patching things up. I was just thinking of you this morning since I'm wearing my red trench today. =)

I love the sweater dress! The obi belt is the perfect finishing touch.

Just perfect, just perfect! Glad to see you back and I just read your post from last week regarding the conflict with hubby about what you were wearing...and all the attendant issues. There was so much wisdom on that post from YLF members and I'm very happy to hear that you are a reflective, considerate wife. It can be hard -- especially when you are a strong-minded woman like I am -- to even consider giving in or negotiating over something you respond to with strong emotions (like color, style, fashion, chocolate, etc.) Continue the process, we are all on the journey together!

Great sweater dress - I'm on the hunt for one myself.

GP: I love this on you!!! my fav look on you too.
I've found since buying my iphone and taking my own pics my husband is less bothered by the time I spend on style and fashion.
Glad you guys have an ongoing dialogue that is working out. hugs.

Love this look on you, particularly with the obi-styled belt. It's monochromatic but with great variations in tones and textures.

  • Ginkgo replied 7 years ago

You look striking! This is my favorite!

  • Heather replied 7 years ago

    GORGEOUS, Natalie!!!!

  • morethanbeige replied 7 years ago

Angie called it KILLER and I would have to agree. This looks is a departure from your usual style...but it is absolutely smashing.

  • O replied 7 years ago

    Hello and welcome back.

This is by far my favorite look on you.

  • nancylee replied 7 years ago

Wowza! You look fantastic in that sweater dress. Nice find!

  • Parsley replied 7 years ago

    wow, wow, WOW!
You look incredible! The obi belt gives that dress just the extra oomph to go from pretty to sensational! Professional looking, but sexy. I'm lacking superlatives to tell you how much I like this!

  • suzanne m replied 7 years ago

You are just oozing confidence these days. Broken record.....KILLER outfit.

  • Vicki replied 7 years ago

Goldenpig, this is KILLER and I love everything you've done here with this outfit and I hope it makes you happy and your DH, too! So, "kick-@$$" my darling, because it shows and that obi belt is one fine accessory, too!

    *thud*
*sound of my lifeless body hitting the floor*

What a divine dress (amazing collar!). And how authoritatively you've styled it. The obi & boots, the pop of colour with the bag. You definitely look kick-a$$ not to mention utterly fab. I think you could be an Avenger or even a Bond nemesis in this!

    Not sombre, just deadly.

  • Aida replied 7 years ago

Oh Natalie this looks amazing!! LOVE the obi belt (my goodness I need one of those) with this. Texture, color variation, and proportion are all excellent. VERY nicely done!

(I was sorry to hear about your fight, but it's good to know you are patching things up. My husband also has very strong opinions, but generally has stopped telling me when he doesn't like what I'm wearing unless he really, truly hates it -_- )

  • catgirl replied 7 years ago

Stunning! And great to see you back.

  • ironkurtin replied 7 years ago

Hon, you look **great!** Remember, hubby loves you very much, but transitions can be funky. This time next year, he may surprise you... either with how much he loves how you dress, or how he suddenly barely even notices things. Men! Right?

Here's a funny story for you. I had a Helmut Lang sweater with the arms cut. It was basically a shirt sleeve sweater with long sleeves sewed on part way. Underneath it I wore a bright long-sleeved t so you could see slashes of color. I was feeling pretty fine, but DH says, "Your sweater is ripped." I said, "No it isn't, look, its hemmed. It's fashion." He said, "That's stupid." At which my little daughter - she must have been three or younger - piped up, "No, it isn't Daddy, it's FASHION!"

    Mama's girl!

  • Kari replied 7 years ago

Wow. I daresay it looks better on you than on the model! I love the obi belt with the dress.

I'm so glad to hear that you and your husband are getting back on better footing. Be patient with one another - but he needs to hear you and your needs, too, and it's good if you can keep the communication lines open.

For a bit of detail about how I relate - I'm a very anti-confrontational person, and so is my boyfriend, so he and I are actually having to learn *how* to argue after nearly 4 years together. We have a tendency to sweep issues that are bothering us under the rug, and we learned the hard way that doing this only makes us both frustrated and liable to lash out at each other in a passive-aggressive way. We're both trying to learn how to actually voice when something is frustrating or worrying us, and that also includes a certain amount of picking your battles and deciding what's NOT worth arguing about.

I hope that things get better. I'm very happy to see you here again!

  • RandomThoughts (Andrea) replied 7 years ago

Wow, you LOOK fantastic and amazing in this too! So glad Natalie is "back"! :D

  • goldenpig replied 7 years ago

LOL Andrea, I really thought I would be gone longer than I was but I just couldn't stay away! I should know better than to swear off YLF. You gals are like family and I missed you lots, even though I was only away for a week! Fortunately things are improving between me & hubby and as long as I try to be more discreet about the picture taking I think I can keep things in balance and still hang out with my dress-up friends!
