Bag ladies: what handbags are you lusting over?

Just for fun! What bags are you currently lusting over? Can be anything from recent/planned purchase to dream bags, practical to fantasy.

I have been wanting to get an oxblood colored bag. I have a red Fossil tote that is very old and beat up that I still use. I would love to replace it with this Burberry tote. Love that there is just a hint of the Burberry check peeking out from the sides. Love the mahogany color. It is quite expensive though and I'm not sure if it would be big enough to hold my laptop. There's another oxblood leather tote from a company called Dagne Dover that makes very stylish and functional totes with lots of organized compartments. The leather one is vertical and $495. There's a cheaper coated canvas horizontal tote for $255-$265 (13 vs. 15 inch), I like the bright blue color (they do also make an oxblood color). Undecided about which size or style would fit my needs, and not sure it's worth the price (love the leather version but $495 is still pretty expensive...). What do you think of these bags?

And then there's the Hermes Birkin and Kelly. I love the style and classic shape. Yes I know they're ULTRA expensive. They often get a negative reaction from people who think you're a celebrity copycat or gold digger. And they're impossible to get. A girl can dream...

What's on your wish list?

True beauties!!! I seriously love bags and think an oxblood tote would make an excellent pick. It's truly a versatile colour.

I really like the Burberry - very chic. But I also quite like the Dagne Dover. The built in compartments certainly make the bag a lot more practical for a busy woman!

My last purchase was this Italian leather tote that's a perfect match for my tan boots....and a replacement for my older tan handbag that I simply got tired of using and passed on after 6 years.

I love that Burberry -- so sophisticated.

I saw this Brahmin Duxbury in Black Cherry Melbourne while Christmas shopping and I loved it. This color seems to be sold out now, but it was so gorgeous. I was very tempted, but I needed to stay on task. :(

I feel covetous about the Loewe Puzzle bag and Ferragamo Fiamma bag, in their medium sized versions. And the little Loewe Elephant is so cute!

Things I like (and would be more likely to purchase IRL) are from the Brahmin website, where I have had very good luck with quality and service. Photos below.

I am always lusting over bags. And all of them.

I have a vintage Coach bag in that color. I love the handles and the built in coin purse, and the color. However, I rarely use it because I prefer a cross body bag. Walking, grocery shopping, whatever - I like being hands free. I'm always perusing Nordstrom's website. There was a Patricia Nash bag that I wanted to get, a fringed bucket bag in grey. It was in NAS, I think, but I never bought it.

Serious temptation here! Fortunately I've been staying strong and haven't 'seen' any got-to-have-it -bags...although walking around with my eyes shut is a bit hazardous.

Ummlilla, the colors that you have chosen are so interesting -- so on trend and so springy! I have to confess that I just cannot do those colors. What am I going to do this spring? :(

  • retailgirl replied 8 years ago

I love the Burberry....I love everything Burberry and I'm usually not a fan of anything so easily recognizable as a status thing. But my favorite bags now are Brahmin. I think they are stylish yet traditional and exceptionally well made. I don't know which one I'd get, I'm waiting for the spring line to come out.

  • replied 8 years ago

All of them; I love them all.  But for 2016 I am focusing in on leather totes in unexpected and interesting colors.  I shop for totes everywhere I go.

I love the cobalt in number 5 above.

  • kkards replied 8 years ago

the list is long...and getting longer....like sterling, I find myself shopping for totes everywhere I go....
after Christmas I finally decided I was going to order the Longchamp from Nordies (using notes for part of it), but of course I waited to long, and its sold out.
the Valentino is a major lust, partly because carrying it to work would be sort of tongue in cheek....

Maybe you should think about a white bag, Vivian, if you're not doing spring colors. It could ligHten things up.

Even at this time of year when it's nasty cold, I always start wanting to wear and carry spring colors as I see the days getting longer.

I can't pick one, I just love purses! My dream bag list is looooong. I have a Burberry on my list in gray. I saw it over the summer and fell in love.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

I want a bag just like that giant clutch the model in the denim skirt and shirt is wearing in Angie's blog post on denim skirts.

  • viva replied 8 years ago

Ummlilla, yes! I think white. good call. Now, for winter to end......

    :)

  • anchie replied 8 years ago

I want white bag for the summer. And silver. And turquoise. And maybe nude? Decisions, decisions ... :)

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

You also have a citron bag, Viv.

  • viva replied 8 years ago

    True, Angie. :)

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

Seeeeee. You just shopped your closet!

Viva - I find stone a super useful colour for a bag.  I use mine all year - and find it works with pretty much everything.  I have two day bags - cognac/tan and stone, and then also an orange clutch (can be day or night).  I also have a red bag in the holding zone but I did not use it last year.

I added a blue evening clutch over summer.  Will add pic!

I loved this BritStitch bag from Modcloth and considered buying it at full price. I never wait for sales but finally bought it at a discount.

I love Jane Birkin (yes I am that old) and love the Birkin bag.  I didn't realize it got looks.  I also love Burberry.

My One Bag to Rule Them All would be the Dior Samourai, in black or green.   Dita von Teese has it in black, and ahhhh... it's just beautiful in photos.   I haven't seen one in real life.

    Yet.

An acquaintance of mine has this Louis Vuitton beauty, and I've seen her with it twice recently.  She operates in a very different financial hemisphere than I do (it retails for $3100 ish US) but it's the only silhouette and colour that's caught my eye at all in the last while.  I love this bag.
But as much as I love bags , having more than ,say ,  3 going at a time seems too much.  How do you all manage to stay organized switching from bag to bag?  Between the 3 I use on a regular basis, I am ALWAYS forgetting my glasses, kleenex, pens, a compact/mirror and some other assorted critical things.  Plus I have nowhere to store them.  Anyways, until I find a suitable repro of the LV, I lust for nothing :)

None!  I scrolled really fast to the bottom of this thread to keep it that way.

  • replied 8 years ago

I always gravitate towards the most expensive ones.

  • replied 8 years ago

    I'm lusting for alaskagirl's R2D2 bag!

  • replied 8 years ago

Oh, and a Chanel bag!  I see a blogger carrying one (don't remember which one), but every time I read her blog, all I can see is her purse.  Pink.  Love it to death.  It is not as expensive as I thought it would be (~$7,000).   I can't rationalize that type of money on a single purse right now.

LisaP -- I have a purse insert.  I carry the one insert in bags.  It has many pockets and zippers and holds everything in my life.  I switch the insert between purses, totes, briefcases, even gym bags.  When I am at work, I lock up the insert and I leave the tote or briefcase on the floor near my desk. You can find inserts at Amazon.com for about $4.  They work perfectly.

Thanks Sterling. I've seen them before, and I think my mother gave me about 4 of them a few years ago that she ordered off of The Shopping Channel  (lol) and thought I should have.  They are horrible black or beige nylon.  I use them to store makeup :)  None of them look like they actually fit into anything but a huge purse  but I should really check out this option.  With every minute I age, I get even less organized .

Goldenpig I love both the Burberry and the birkin bags!
That elephant bag is a work of art Umlila.
I want something bright, cheery, and non-leather for summer. Something appropriate for mom-on-the-go.

I am in lust with my Givenchy Pandora bag in peacock. I just had to have it the moment I saw it, unfortunately at full price. Surprisingly, it "goes" with a large part of my wardrobe.

  • annagybe replied 8 years ago

    I want a dressier backpack
This very expensive & wackadoodle one caught my eye

ETA I'm disappointed in Nordies' selection

  • catgirl replied 8 years ago

Xtabay, R2 still gets a minimum of 3 "OMG where did you GET that?" comments a day!

  • Jaime replied 8 years ago

The "it" bag I most like on this thread is UmmLila's Loewe puzzle bag but I would really love a Bao Bao by Issey Miyake.

I found a website today that was fun:

    http://stylecaster.com/top-handle-bags/

There were two bags out of the ten that I fell in love with.  They are both gorgeous.  Neither of them is a tote.
