WIW 4/20: L148 Aquarium dress

I went to Nordstrom to try on DVF wrap dresses (see my K/R post) and many dresses were not great for my apple belly, but I ended up coming home with the blue leaf print dress and this Lafayette 148 aquarium print sheath that the SA recommended. I am still not sure yet if I will keep the blue DVF dress, but I did end up wearing the aquarium print dress and got lots of compliments. It's an apple-friendly sheath, a print in my favorite turquoise color, with a splash of citron. Winner in my book! Paired it with my cream eyelet Kate Spade purse and Ugg cream snake lace-up ballet flats (I liked the black pair so much I bought them in blue and cream as well!). It was already on sale when I bought it, but the best part is because it was in my YLF Finds, I got a notification that there was a price drop and I was able to get another $80 off via a price adjustment by bringing the receipt to the store! Yay YLF!

Lafayette 148 aquarium print sheath dress
Tommy Bahama turquoise cardigan (for the chilly Bay Area morning)
Ugg Izabel cream snake lace up pointy ballet flat
Kate Spade cream eyelet purse
Burberry watch
Banana Republic Trina Turk bracelet (with the same exact color scheme as the dress!)

WIW 5/1: Playing koi

I fell in love with the koi espadrilles that Angie posted about recently and promptly bought a pair. They are so comfy and the perfect summer MOTG shoe! I love patterns, especially of living things, so they are perfect! I chose a blue boating style jacket, nautical navy stripe shirt and "water drop" crystal pendant to go with the koi theme.

I have been trying to work on my casual MOTG style and buying truly casual items rather than my usual MO of re-appropriating work clothes for MOTG, so I was happy to find this shirt and jacket at Banana Republic Factory Outlet (I had to make the trek up there to return a dress after accidentally recycling the return label but Saks Off 5th refused to send me a new one, boo). Even happier that they were 50% off! My belly has been bigger than I'd like lately, so I need to find good apple-friendly casual tees and tops...this one is a little thicker weight and looser around the belly so it works great. DS1 and 2 are little hams and wanted in on the action, and DS1 wanted to take a picture of my shoes...love his little feet in the picture!

Banana Republic Factory Outlet navy jacket
BRFO navy stripe tee (linked one is grey)
Kut from the Kloth Catherine boyfriend jeans (Nordstrom)
Mulo koi espadrilles (Net-a-Porter)
Alexis Bittar crystal pendant (Nordstrom)
MZ Wallace Tribeca orange purse (it's the perfect non-diaper bag diaper bag!)

K/R: DVF wrap dresses

What do you think of these Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses? I have a 20 year old Banana Republic wrap dress (9) and a Maggy London black and white faux wrap dress (7-8). I've been wanting for a long time to add a DVF wrap dress to my collection, but have had bad luck in the past with them not fitting right with my apple shape. I think the belt tends to cut right across my belly. Unfortunately I'm at my highest non-pregnant weight in a while--I am done nursing for the first time in almost 8 years, but because of that my weight has crept up about 10 lb and it seems to be all in my apple belly! I'm actually 1st trimester pregnant in 7-8, but I think my belly is even bigger now! Since I don't think it's going away anytime soon (I'm working on it, but it's slow going), I think I'm just going to have to live with it. These two DVF dresses, the blue leaf print in 1-3 and the chain print in 4-6, were on sale so I got a good price on them. What do you think of them? The black and white one is very similar to the Maggy London that I already have so I would only keep it if it's better than the one I have. I like the patterns, and the color of the blue dress. I don't love the side views, but I don't think I can do much better at this point given the realities of my post-three babies body. Which DVF dress do you like better, or should I give up on my dream of a classic DVF wrap and return both?
ETA: the chain print does come in a smaller print if you think the print is too large.

Reality vs. Fantasy 4/30: Entomology

Oh man, this really was a Reality vs. Fantasy outfit. I was fully intending to wear these 4 inch dragonfly pumps to work, but I didn't even last 30 min before I had to swap them out for flats. The shoes I wore are new blue snake pointy lace-up ballet flats, so still edgy/current, but they don't hold a candle to the dragonfly pumps. I am sad that I can't wear them IRL. I realize I probably should get rid of them, but they really are a work of art so I cannot get myself to chuck them (I can just keep them on the shelf to admire them!). BTW I do think it's fun that the names of both shoes start with an "I". On a brighter note, I loved the matchy matchy insect theme (which is why I really wanted to wear those dragonfly pumps!). Tory Burch and Alexis Bittar, a match made in insect heaven!

Reality vs. Fantasy 4/29: Butterfly garden

Another outfit for Angie's Reality vs. Fantasy challenge. I actually wore both versions, so I guess technically it would count as Reality Squared! The "reality" version is the sporty MOTG version with the white sneakers and sporty orange purse. I was inspired to use Keds-like white sneakers after seeing the catalog picture for the cardigan and skirt (aka shameless catalog copy). I wore my butterfly necklace to match the floral/garden theme. I wore it to take DD to school and attend her morning assembly. The "fantasy" version is for a garden party, with wedge sandals and a matchy matchy eyelet purse to go with the eyelet skirt. I wore this version to take a friend out for a birthday lunch.

Halogen pink eyelet skirt

Reality vs. Fantasy 4/28: Roses & Thorns

I thought it would be fun to try Angie's Reality vs. Fantasy challenge. As it turned out, my reality is not all that different from my fantasy! I wore outfit 1-2 to work, with a cardigan and comfy black sandals. I chose the bracelet and necklace to represent thorns to match the roses on the dress (I love themes!). The fantasy outfit is the same, minus the cardigan and adding edgy Rockstud-like pumps, maybe to go out on a date night with DH. DD came waltzing in and wanted to be my date for the night! How could I say no?

Taylor floral fit and flare rose dress (Nordstrom)
White House Black Market red cardigan
Chanel red purse
Stella and Dot bracelet
Alexis Bittar necklace
Munro Abby sandals
Sam Edelman Ollie studded black pumps
