WIW 10/22-23: Jellyfish dress and legggings, leather pencil skirt to work

Both worn to work. I'm always slightly bending the rules on what is work appropriate--leggings and leather pencil skirts aren't exactly typical business wear. Do these look OK? Got lots of compliments on the jellyfish dress. No comments on outfit #2, maybe a little boring compared to my usual, but I had a work meeting so I wanted to look serious.
Sorry my forum participation is so spotty--things are crazy busy!

WIW 10/14, 17, 18: Up a tree, preppy punk, librarian

Just a hodge podge of random outfits. Interesting that all of them have at least a couple of recycled elements, like the white blouse, black flats, burgundy satchel, etc.

1. This pic is so funny--it looks like DS2 has climbed up a tree to escape the swarm of hungry killer cats!
Anne Fontaine white double collar blouse
Rachel Roy tree skirt
WHBM pointy black flats
Chanel Ms. Scarlet

Tree branch earrings to match skirt
(Waving excitedly at Shannon--wanna do a twin day with the AF blouse and RR skirt?)

2. Matchy Matchy houndstooth. Somehow I feel like this outfit is an 80's preppy/punk hybrid, but I may just be making that up.
Spiegel leather jacket
Nordstrom teal houndstooth cardigan
Nordstrom burgundy houndstooth skirt
Betsey Johnson burgundy quilted hearts satchel (DSW)
WHBM pointy black flats

F21 gunmetal spike bracelet

3. My librarian look.

WIW 10/21: Bubble water with lime

An outfit inspired by my favorite drink: sparkling water with lime. The kids like to drink sparkling water too, and they call it bubble water. I never drank carbonated water until I was an adult, and the first time I tasted it I didn't like it--thought it tasted bitter. But then I started drinking it as an alternative to soda, and now I drink it all the time--I even prefer it to still water. And of course nowadays kids aren't supposed to drink soda, which is why my kids like to drink bubble water instead. Hopefully they will grow up more healthy than we did! DD matched me today with her blue and green striped shirt.

I decided to keep the Kate Spade purse to match my blue and green outfits. Even though the green is a little too bright, it's a more useful size than the Banana Republic clutch. So that's the "lime" to match my fizzy dress. The Chie Mihara shoes are still killing me at the end of the day. They start out fine, but I ended up having to take the kids to the library after work and walking a couple blocks in these heels to the car and back was painful! I think I'm going to have to keep some flats in the car, or keep looking for some blue snake flats (the Rachel Zoe ones are going back because of the wrinkled instep).

I always get lots of compliments on this dress. I love telling people I bought it at TJ Maxx! I feel very '60's in this outfit...mod and matchy matchy.

WIW 10/16: Another orange & blue for MOTG

I wore blue and orange to work yesterday and posted my orange and blue outfit collection. Here's another one for MOTG today to add to the list. DH even liked it and said it was a cute outfit. I thought he'd think the orange jeans are clown pants, like the H&M floral pants. Maybe his eyes are adjusting. Also it's kind of a preppy look, which he likes.

Tulle navy peacoat
H&M blue and white striped T
AG orange skinny jeans
WHBM blue jewels bracelet
Kate Spade Japanese floral purse and sneakers (fulfilling the pattern and matchy matchy part of my rubric. Also the inside of the bag and the trim on the sneakers are neon orange, to match the jeans).

K/R: Blue snake flats

The blue snake shoes saga continues...
I tried some pointy kitten heels to replace my WHBM blue snake stilettos. But they were too pointy so I returned them. So then I ordered some Chie Miharas with a sturdier heel. But they are 3 inch heels and not the most comfortable to last all day on my feet. I'm still wearing them for office days like today, but wanted to get a pair of flats in a similar style for MOTG and busy hospital call days where I have to walk a lot. So I ordered a pair of Rachel Zoe blue snake flats on Rae's recommendation. The only strange thing is that there's this weird wrinkling on the instep and I'm not sure what's causing it. I also got it with the Jimmy Choos too but not as bad. Does this look too funny--should I return it and keep looking? It's not as noticeable from far away but it's definitely there. The shoe (7.5) is my normal shoe size, I don't think I can size down. Thanks in advance for your advice!

WIW 10/15 Orange + blue (including retrospective collection)

Orange and blue is one of my absolute favorite color combos! I loved Angie's post today about pairing orange and blue and was inspired to wear that combo today, and to pull out some of my favorite orange and blue outfits from my blog archives. I wear that color combo year round in various shades:
coral with turquoise
ink blue with bright orange
denim with any orange--Dutch orange, pumpkin, rust
rust and cobalt

And of course one of my favorite bags is the Kate Spade orange slice purse that goes with anything blue.

Here is what I wore today, and a look back at some of the many orange and blue outfits I've worn in the past.
(I just realized that today's outfit incorporates all of my favorite designers!)
WHBM ink blue jacket
Anne Fontaine white shirt
Tory Burch cobalt and rust skirt
Chie Mihara blue and green snake pumps
Kate Spade grey croc tote
Alexis Bittar orange leopard pendant
F21 bronze and orange bracelet

My small but mighty boot collection

I saw all the gorgeous boots in this boot collection thread and I was inspired to join in. I don't have a huge boot collection compared to others, but I'm pretty happy with it.

Any glaring boot holes? I don't really have shooties or ankle boots because I have skinny ankles and suffer from flowerpot syndrome. My narrow calves also make boot shopping tricky. So when I find something that fits, I like to duplicate in brown and black so that I can wear them with all colors of outfits. Next on my list is a pair of snow boots for when we go skiing a few times a year--I've actually been using DH's old rain/snow boots from when he was a kid (10), but they're cracked and all the insulation has worn away, so I'd like to get some real snow boots to keep my feet warm

My favorite booties are the OTBT gold booties (so comfy). My overall favorites are the burgundy patent Aquatalia Vavoom rainboots and the black Frye Melissa lace-ups--they make me feel like a superhero! Don't you love how putting on a pair of tall boots automatically make you feel a little bad-@$$? ;)

Thanks for looking at my "small but mighty" boot collection!

1. My boot collection
2. Frye Melissa lace-ups in brown and black
3. Timberland Stratham Heights in cognac and La Canadienne Galaxy brown suede wedges
4. Aquatalia Vavoom burgundy patent rain boots (waterproof)
5. Nine West heeled black boots (pre-YLF)
6. OTBT (Off the Beaten Track) gold booties
7. Mia Nanette lace-up booties in brown and black
8. Reiker Annemarie slouchy booties in brown and black
9. pre-YLF gear--Lowa hiking boots and Ugg short brown boots
10. DH's old kiddie snow boots

WIW 10/1: Here kitty kitty!

Found this Equipment kitty blouse on eBay and could not resist joining the cat lady club (waving at Rae, MaryK, and Suz)! Wore it with leopard ballet flats for a little subtle kitty kitty matchy matchy. Picked the blue skirt to match the cats' eyes. Fun pic with DD as I dropped her off at school.

WIW 9/29-30 Gotta keep 'em separated...denim and camo revisited

I wore a Gap denim moto and camo jeans together (#3), but it didn't feel totally me (too tomboy) and DH didn't like the camo. Still not sure what I will do with the jeans, but I wanted to try your suggestions to split them up and pair them with more ladylike pieces so they felt more like my style. What do you think, are these better?
1. Denim moto with triple floral...WHBM floral jeans plus Kate Spade floral bag and sneakers. I've got the matchy matchy and ladylike print that make it more me.
2. I call this my "huntress" look...just need a bow and arrow! Nikita meets Katniss Everdeen...
