WIW 3/28 & 3/30: White denim jacket, Jason Wu, SYC, A-line for apples

I didn't mean for this to be a "formula" but ended up wearing similar outfits on both days--white denim jacket and Jason Wu for Target top. Both of these tops hadn't been worn yet and I am trying to attack my "unworn items" list, especially as I'm trying (not necessarily succeeding!) to shop my closet.
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....hey-unworn

1-2. MOTG
AE white denim jacket
Jason Wu for Target red and blue and cream striped T
Gap Long and Lean bootcut jeans, hemmed for flats
Red Converse

3-6. Work
AE white denim jacket--not 100% sure about this jacket with this outfit esp. for work, but it was spring-like and nothing else in my closet seemed to work with this outfit. I probably won't wear it at work since it's kind of casual.
JWT mustard sleeveless blouse
Anthro blue, yellow and white floral skirt--this is for you, Shannon, since you didn't think apples can wear A-line skirts! ;)
Calvin Klein V necklace
Anthro Moss Mills bronze leaf belt
Fossil floral satchel
Nude Easy Spirit pumps

AAAAHHHH!!! Look at this Kate Spade dress! Should I get it?

OMG look at this Kate Spade Japanese Floral Austin Dress! I LOVE it, it's so mod and I love the black and white pattern. I could wear it to work, on dates, as a cocktail dress, etc. etc. And I could wear it year round!
And it's on sale at Bloomingdales!
http://www1.bloomingdales.com/.....sn_results
It's normally $395 but it's on sale right now (till 4/1) at Bloomies for $278 and if you use coupon code FANDF it brings it down to $236! AAAAHHHH!!!! I can't resist!

I went to try it on at the Kate Spade shop. The size 6 fit me best (which isn't available online at Bloomingdale's) but the KS shop said they could price match. What do you think of the dress on me? Does this print placement look OK (they only have one in stock in my size)? Should I get it? I have it on hold. I'm pretty sure I can get it without spending any additional money, from the clothes I consigned recently plus the Ebates/Mr. Rebates rebate checks. I know I said I was on SYC but I really really hope DH will agree to make an exception for this, since I would be using my consignment/rebate money! Otherwise I can ask him if it can be my birthday present!

Also I could eBay my black Kate Spade ruffle wrap dress that I never wore (#4) if I don't have enough to cover it (I will check with the consignment store to see how much I have sold so far). Anyone have any tips for eBaying? If the original price was $395 and it's NWT, how much should I ask for and should I do an auction or Buy it Now? How much should I charge for shipping or should I do free shipping? I've never eBayed anything before, but I think for something like this I'd get more on eBay than consigning it. Thanks for your help!

WIW 3/29: Custo Barcelona inspiration

I was inspired by Angie's post yesterday where she translated Custo Barcelona's runway look to real life:
http://youlookfab.com/2012/03/.....barcelona/
So I thought I'd give it a shot myself! Would never have come up with this combo myself--thanks Angie and Custo for the inspiration!

Anthro Dots Within emerald green blouse with cream/navy dots
Halogen leather trim black pencil skirt
Tahari black leather jacket with ruched collar and suede panel details
Jason Wu for Target cream straw handbag with navy trim
All Black Fish Bow pumps, cream fish scales with black trim (I already had the shoes in her post!)
Michael Kors cream and gold snakeskin belt
(I also have a more subdued H&M black braided belt in #7-9 if you think the snakeskin belt is too much--which one do you prefer?)

OT: Fun and frivolous updates

Today I wore a wool shorts and tights combo and couldn't figure out where to wear it appropriately:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....pying-aida
I had a meeting with our office manager today to go over the books and was pleasantly surprised--I made a lot more last year than I thought I did! I am so glad because DH is always so stressed out about money (no matter how much we have) so at least I can tell him the good news that I am earning more than we thought. Maybe this would help him come around to the idea of a third kid (he always keeps saying we can't afford another). So to celebrate I went out to lunch, by myself, to a Mexican restaurant (my favorite food). Here is my shredded beef chimichanga and virgin pina colada. Yum! I haven't eaten out by myself in ages--feels so decadent, LOL! So, that's where I wore my outfit today.

And in my previous thread someone mentioned that it seems I don't have any of my own hobbies anymore now that I have kids. Yes, that is true, my kids are my "hobbies" now. I don't have any other "hobbies" other than YLF and my mommy board, which is why it's tough when DH doesn't understand why I like to spend time doing it. He has his photography and video games so I try to do it when he's playing his games. But I just found a possible new hobby--making balloon animals! We went to my niece's birthday party last weekend and one of the dads there was making balloon animals for the kids. He said that once he had to wait in line for a half hour to get a balloon animal for his daughter and he said "Never again!". So he went onto YouTube and learned how to make balloon animals himself. I thought that was hilarious but also very smart! I tried it myself and figured out how to make a balloon dog, it wasn't that hard and was a lot of fun! So here are my first attempts at becoming a balloonist. I think I may try to check out YouTube and learn how to make some more animals, so that in case my day job doesn't work out I'll have something else to fall back on, LOL!

And here's a bonus pic of a bush that looks like a smiling pineapple. Have a good day everyone!

WIW 3/27: Wool shorts, tights, boots and scarf (copying Aida)

Aida in her fab shorts/tights/boots/scarf outfit inspired me to copy her formula:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/wiw-0319-23
I'm going to the office today but not seeing patients so I felt OK trying the shorts and tights look. I bought these wool shorts last fall but haven't worn them much. I'm not sure if they are too casual for work and too dressy for MOTG--trying to think of where I can wear this type of outfit! What do you think of it?

Only Mine teal V neck cashmere sweater from Nordstrom
H&M orange/brown/cream/grey scarf
Sanctuary tobacco wool shorts
H&M grey ribbed tights
Frye Melissa cognac lace up boots
Kate Spade grey croc tote
Forever 21 bronze and orange bracelet

WIW 3/24-26: Mood dressing

Saturday I was in a springtime mood so I wore my TJ Maxx floral dress and the AE white denim jacket. Even though it was pouring rain. My toes were chilly in my Ugg wedge sandals.

Sunday I was feeling really low. DH is still mad at me. He says he doesn't trust me. I felt like I should just give up and not care anymore. I felt so bad I thought maybe I should just forget it and dress in the most old and drab clothes that I have from now on. I reverted back to my pre-YLF uniform of REI fleece and Merrell Mocs. I was very comfy but very unfab.

Today I am feeling a little better and more hopeful so I decided not to do an "unfab week" like I had been planning. Because that is just depressing! What better pick me up than the orange Bailey 44 dress? And my orange-red Fossil purse and orange Alexis Bittar pendant. I wore it with the cognac leather jacket and brown Mia lace-up booties.

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I feel bad that I'm only posting and haven't been responding to other people's threads much, but I'm trying to limit myself to 15 mins of YLF a day. I am still trying to find my balance. I still want to do the things that make me happy, but I can't sacrifice my relationship with DH for it.

WIW 3/23: Back in the game (red pants and cat x2) and pants week recap

OK, after yesterday's grey pants and blue button down shirt outfit that bored me to tears, I decided to give pants another shot and try to wear a pants outfit that felt more like my usual style. I wore some Gap Modern Bootcut trousers in red (size 4, unfortunately they've bagged out a bit over the day) and my black Anne Fontaine button down blouse. I added a Jason Wu for Target Milu cat scarf for my required dose of whimsy, then the Kate Spade trench for one of my signature pieces, and the structured WHBM red snakeskin handbag. I was originally planning to wear black Mary Janes, but the pants were too long for mid-heel pumps so I had to wear high heels. So I decided to wear the leopard print B Makowsky Heist pumps with red trim. I didn't intend to do pattern mixing and double cat prints, but why not, it's more fun that way!

I think the week of pants was helpful because I realized that I can wear pants and make them my style, it just takes more effort (thinking about pants length, making sure the top is more interesting, which shoes you can wear with what hem length, etc).

Here's the week of pants in review--vote for your favorite!

WIW 3/21-22: More pants (yawn)

I am doing a pants week so I can wear some of the pants I had hemmed recently.

1-2. MOTG day. I hemmed the Gap Long & Leans to wear with flats since I'd primarily be wearing these for MOTG. I paired it with the Gap denim polka dot shirt, H&M coral red shirt (which I now realize is too tight on me so I probably will retire it) and the red Converse. The outfit is OK, not super exciting though.
3-5. Work. Grey Classiques Entier trousers, Old Navy light blue striped button down shirt, red Fossil work tote, WHBM silver bracelet, and Clark Indigo black Mary Jane pumps. I feel like the outfit fits well and I think the pants are hemmed correctly, but the outfit feels kind of ho hum. I tried to jazz it up a little with the red bag and the bracelet, but it's still safe and boring. It's very typical of my pre-YLF style (although my pants would not have been PPL and I would have been wearing Merrell Mocs instead of pumps). The people at work are noticing--someone said, "You look cute but what happened to your drop dead gorgeous outfits?" I think they are expecting more from me nowadays! At least now I know that I'm more of a dress and skirt gal! I have one more day of pants to go this week but after that it'll be back to my usual ladylike style!

WIW 3/20: Satin blouse and trousers

I'm doing a pants week just so I can use some of the pants that I recently had hemmed finally. Pre-YLF I used to wear pants all the time so that I could wear my comfy Dansko clogs or Merrell mocs. Then when I joined YLF I started wearing pumps and boots more and really preferred to wear skirts and dresses (no need to fuss with PPL). I finally forced myself to get over my PPL anxiety and just get the pants hemmed! Hopefully the length is correct.

Cream satin blouse from Classiques Entier. Super old (pre-kids), one of my first ever Nordstrom purchases. It's a bit tight at the bust now that I have post-baby/nursing boobs so the top button wanted to pop open (fortunately I was wearing a cami underneath). I wanted to see if it still is workable. I found out one of the sleeve buttons was missing so I had to roll the sleeves. Is this shirt salvageable or should I get rid of it?
Halogen brown trousers (it had a cuffed hem but i had the cuff removed when they hemmed it)
Clarks brown mid-heel pumps--so comfy! Amazing that all my best/most comfy work pumps were bought ages ago pre-YLF!
Leopard belt from Gap
Triple strand champagne pearl necklace from WHBM
Anthro purple tweed coat (didn't wear it much though)
Jack Georges brown briefcase
