WIW 6/6--80's redux: suit plus sneakers

I couldn't get a good pic of this outfit because DS2 would NOT let me put him down when I got home. But it was fun wearing this work outfit with sneakers. Kind of like the modern, slightly edgier version of the '80's power suit with sneakers. Found a really funny post on that 80's trend, complete with Sex and the City flashback version (#8).

Theory Lanai leather trim black blazer
Anne Fontaine white double collar blouse (I need to stop wearing this while I am still nursing--the 2nd button kept popping open! Ugh!)
Target snakeskin print ponte skirt
Asics Kayano 20 black sneakers
F21 bracelet
Fitbit Flex black
Karl Lagerfeld black watch
Michael Kors black studded satchel
Alexis Bittar necklace

OK this workout outfit is not the greatest, but I thought you would find it funny. This hoodie is an oldie but goodie...love the "Catfight Champ" on the back and the cat ears on the hood. And I encountered this little guy while running, which made me feel better that at least I'm not the slowest thing on the trail!

WIW 6/5: Black, fuchsia & orange dress + sneakers and matching running gear

I forgot to link to the sneakers blog post on my earlier thread with my dress plus aqua sneakers. So here's another set with my fuchsia and orange sneakers. Wore this dress and sneakers combo to work and everyone was tickled pink. I like the combo of ladylike dress and pink phone case, sporty purse and sneakers, and edgy/tough leather and watch. It was so comfy to wear sneakers all day at work and it feels so fun and fresh to wear sneakers instead of pumps!

Also here is my fuchsia and orange running outfit. I love doing matchy matchy colors not just for my regular outfits, but even my gear! Even the jogging bra matches! I also found a water bottle that has an attached handle to hold and a pocket for the phone and key. It's perfect for what I need to carry. Last week I ran 1 mile each time. This week I started running a little farther (about 1.5 miles) and go to this big rock at the end of the trail that is a nice goal--once I reach that I turn around and run back. It takes me about 20 minutes. I'm not very fast (I have some mild asthma when I exercise) but hopefully will keep improving. My goal is to try to run three times a week.

Asics GT 1000-2 raspberry and orange sneakers

Moving Comfort orange jog bra

WIW 6/3: Walking on Sunshine

I went to DD's school performance where they were singing songs about the sun. So I picked something theme-related and wore a sunny orange and yellow tunic with my orange slice purse. DD picked a yellow dress with butterflies, and paired it with a red sequin cardigan, red leggings and red shoes. She is quite the little fashionista! Her class sang "Walking on Sunshine". Very cute!

WIW 6/4: Agate dress with aqua sneakers for anniversary (& new hair pics)

I am having lots of fun with my trio of new sneakers! This week I wore all three pairs to work with "normal" outfits. Definitely got lots of comments about the dresses with matching sneakers--a novelty around here, for sure! They think I'm starting a new trend! Just call me Sporty Spice!

I pulled out a new orange purse that I initially had thought was too sporty for work, but now it's perfect with the sneakers! And I got a new Fitbit to track my running/activity, so naturally I had to get the accessory wristband set in different colors and wore the orange one to match the purse! Also, matching dragonfly necklace and dragonfly bracelet. As you know, I really love matchy matchy repeating elements in my outfits, be it colors or patterns or motifs. Maybe it's a little bookending OCD, but I really like symmetry!

I went for a long overdue haircut, and big hair confession--I also colored my hair for the first time! I was getting lots of grays...too many to keep plucking. She kept my natural hair color but used a semi-permanent dye to turn the gray hairs into golden highlights. I was so nervous because I had never colored my hair before, but it came out really well and my hair seemed very soft and shiny afterward, not dry or frizzy at all. Best of all, no one noticed or commented at all--not even my husband! At first I was surprised, but then I realized the best compliment is that it looks so natural no one even notices!

DH and I went out for dinner to celebrate our 15th anniversary (because he was on call for our actual anniversary), so I just swapped out the sneakers and orange purse for a jeweled clutch and heels.

(Also re-posting the corresponding workout outfit with the aqua sneakers).

Michael Kors agate dress
Alexis Bittar dragonfly necklace
Tildon dragonfly cuff
MZ Wallace tangerine Tribeca (bought at the Easter Egg Hunt sale)
Fitbit Flex & Burberry watch
Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 aqua and citron sneakers
Tommy Bahama white cardigan
(Kate Spade turquoise clutch and pumps)

WIW 6/2: Edgy at work--red snake, leather pencil skirt and Ollies

I have to admit I was a little worried that the black leather and pointy studded spike heels etc. were too edgy and/or sexy for work, but I got a lot of positive comments, especially about the shoes! I'm just toeing the edge of work appropriate clothes with my black studded Ollies! Hopefully it's still polished enough to pass muster. Oh and DD wanted in on the fashion selfie action too...she chooses her own clothes and is wearing one of her favorite dresses and black sparkly leggings.

The Shirt red snake shirt, Halogen black leather pencil skirt, Sam Edelman Ollie black studded heels (and one fashion-savvy staff member commented on the resemblance to Valentino Rockstuds!), F21 bracelet (so many people love this bracelet! It was less than $10!), Karl Lagerfeld black watch, Michael Kors black studded satchel, Alexis Bittar necklace.

WIW 5/31: Matchy matchy lemon & aqua running gear and new sneakers!

Of course my matchy matchy streak would extend to my workout outfit! Hopefully it's not too cheesy looking to be all matchy matchy in gear! These are all different brands, but I love the cheery combination of bright lemon yellow and aqua. And how fun that I found a pair of sneakers to match perfectly! Thanks everyone for the recs on my previous thread. I took your advice and went to a running shoe store and they videotaped me walking on a treadmill. I found out I've got flat feet and overpronate (my ankles roll inward), so I need a shoe with a lot of medial arch support, cushioning and stability. They recommended the Asics GT 1000 v2 for me (the pink pair). I also found a couple more styles online that had similar profiles (good for overpronators): the Asics Kayano 20 (the black one) and the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 (aqua and yellow). It's kind of silly, but I think I'm going to keep all three so I can have different shoes to match different outfits! Plus I read somewhere that rotating multiple shoes makes it less likely to get injured. I love all of these, especially the Brooks. They are so light yet supportive! And they match my turquoise Zella jacket as well. My previous sneakers were some white New Balance cross trainers, but they are very old. These new ones are so comfy, I'm trying to think of ways to wear them with regular outfits (esp. the black ones). If people can wear Birks with fashionable outfits, why not sneakers? ;)

Oh, and I've gone on three 1-mile runs this week and went from 18 min to 14 min to 12 min! A good start so far! Thanks everyone for your advice!
