If you only had a month left to wear your favorite outfits...

...before moving into a new style direction, what would be on your list of current faves? What new thing would you like to try in the coming months?

For me, pencil skirts and sheath dresses. I love waist definition. They make me feel so feminine. I don't want to stop wearing them! However, I am interested in exploring voluminous tops over skinny legs more (I bought a couple of ponchos last year but would like to try some dolman tops like the one Kari posted and the drapey black sweater that Deborah posted).

Oh gosh, I can't think of any reason I would abandon them but my faves right now:

    My new Frye's!
My new AE jacket. This has been getting constant wear
My military inspired light coat thingy. It's like an indoor cargo jacket. I love this with skinnies and boots. It's a real "go to" in my wardrobe.
    Doc 20s
I'd love to wear more dresses, especially fit n flares.

BTW, I made my dress quota - all four worn before the end of July! Anthro yellow dress stays. :D

    Yay! *clapping hands excitedly*

I have been living this! Boots! I won't be able to wear them for 6 more months.
And it's no secret I am into drapey woven dresses right now. My new thing I'm going to try is a romper version of those dresses :)

  • goldenpig replied 11 years ago

Yes I thought of you Mo with your move! At least you will be able to wear the boots when you return! You look great in woven dresses and I can't wait to see how you rock the romper look!

I just got some breezy waist-surrendering tops and new (to me) skirts and clams I can't wait to start wearing them!

You always start such fun threads, Natalie! This may very well apply to me, too, what with the height of summer coming on fast. Might have to give up on some boots and outerwear for a month or two.

    Current faves:
    - Slouchy shirts/blouses (e.g., Nexx)
    - All my boots! I still love them lots!
    - Heels

    Interested in:
    - Preppy elements (boat shoes, polo dresses)
    - More dresses
    - Flats/lower heels (it may be a challenge to find a pair for my arches, but I like the de-bombshelling effect of a flatter shoe)

Well, I want to move INTO pencil skirts. I just need to find one. I think I'd also like to walk around the neighborhood in a caftan, with my dog.

Of course, top on my current list is my parka, which I have STILL NOT put away for summer. I'm also wearing these cheapie patent leather flats from Payless Shoes to death. I should run out and buy two pairs before they go away.

Just curious, is your style evolving? Just because your style is evolving doesn't mean you have to abandon one style for the other. I have been wearing waist surrendering tunics since February but I haven't given up on my fitted dresses, and today I am wearing a pencil skirt and denim shirt combo.

    Current favs for me are:
    Stripes for tops and dresses!
    white jeans
    new wedges

I want to add more patterned tops!

What a fantastic, thought-provoking thread, Natalie!

I guess I'd be hanging on to...
    - my favourite dark-wash and lightly faded jeans
    - colourful cotton leggings for Indian ethnic outfits
    - tunic-length tops both shorter and longer to wear over both the above
    - striped T-shirts
    - non T-shirt knit tops
    - a few longer scarves
    - my new wedge-heeled metallic sandals, Birkies and flat leather thong sandals.
    - some of my silver jewellery, tribal pieces and lacquered wood bangles for sure...

    What I'd like to try:
    - coloured skinnies (yeah, am I ever late to that party!)
    - soft blouses
    - soft and voluminous pants (slouchy, tapered & low crotch harem, jodhpurs)
    - layering
    - more jackets and blazers
    - more dresses for everyday (apart from my 3 black evening/cocktail dresses, I only have one printed summer dress, a black shirtwaist, and a beige safari I've been struggling with)
    - colour on colour (I'm still fighting to go beyond colour+neutral on a regular basis)

Since my summer will be more or less over in a month, I DO only have about a month to wear current faces, style evolution or not!

So...those would be my wedge heeled casual sandals - I wear them almost every day.

My white denim jacket, brand new and already becoming a favourite.

    My thrifted full skirt (ditto).

Do you feel you'll have to give up your current faces, Natalie? Or do you feel that you simply WILL give them up, for the fun of playing with new looks?

Wow, this was a really helpful question, GP, because when I read "favorite outfit" one immediately flashed into my head and everything else in my wardrobe took a back seat. Now I need to work out what it is about that outfit that makes me love it so much and repeat the pattern! ( To answer the question, I am completely into dresses at the moment. My separates are not getting much love from me at all!)

What a cool thread! To those of you who said boots, I second that. I would wear the heck out of my beloved black city boots with bootcut jeans. It's my favorite look during fall and winter. (I'm a chemist, no one cares if we wear jeans to work.)

It's scary for me to think about changing it up, but I would like to try to wear more skirts and dresses I think, probably also with boots, because I LOVE boots. Maybe I'd go with tall boots.

What a great question ! Let's pretend that my month would be really cold for half and warm for the other half.

I would wear a rose colored, wool , navy tipped Blazer
    Black ponte skinny pants
Knit navy and grey striped blazer
    A navy, scrunched sleeve blazer

    A jersey teal dress ( spring/summer)
A navy and white striped skirt ( light weight )
A linen dress with beautiful red and rose colored flowers

I can't even list the accessories and boots I would have to wear....pretty much ALL .
