WIW 1/30: Emerald green and ink blue

I keep wearing this ink blue jacket! I have to remember to wear some of my other stuff instead of reaching for the same favorites over & over! Anyways, I wore this emerald green blouse because of Angie's post, and since she said she likes it with blue I thought I'd try it with my WHBM jacket. The yellow skirt was a bit of a bold choice and I'm not sure if the combo looks too bright/garish or ridiculous. But I did get a several compliments from coworkers today, so it must be OK (unless it's one of those cognitive dissonance "that's so weird it must be cool" type responses). Am I being too wacky with my colors? I am wondering if I need to tone things down for work. Any other skirt suggestions?

White House Black Market ink blue jacket
Anthro Dots Within emerald green tie neck blouse with navy dots
WHBM ink blue belt
Halogen yellow raisin pencil skirt
Nude Easy Spirit pumps
(grey Kate Spade croc tote, not pictured--I had a hard time deciding which bag to use with this crazy-colored outfit)

I think you look amazingly cool. I absolutely love this look and can completely see why you received so many compliments!

To be honest with you, the only possible colour suggestion I've got is for a denim skirt in a darkish wash. That said, I truly think the yellow looks so amazing against the blue/green that it totally makes this and any other colours I can think of sadly lacking the sass and impact you've achieved with this combo as it stands.

I think you look amazing! The colours go well together without being over the top :)

Nice job! I love the colorful vibe you've got going on.

GP I think this is a gorgeous combination of colors. My only suggestion is different shoes. It may be the photo but the yellow skirt, bare legs and nude shoes create a lack of balance to my eye. It doesn't look bad, it's just I somehow find it distracting from the rest of the outfit. Maybe a darker shoe?

Lovely colors, this looks great on you. How about this combo on top with white jeans in the summer?

Channeling a little MaryK there GP! This looks great - I love all the colours together. And that jacket is definitely FAB on you!

Hello bold and brave colour warrior! You are one creative mama - love this combo. You are right - the ink blue jacket is a great foil for the emerald green - and then to add bright yellow to the mix! Wowza! You are Pure Spring Heaven!!! I don't have an issue with your lovely nude shoes, but I suppose the strength of brights up top could handle a darker shoe...? Just fab nevertheless!

I think these colors and pieces look fab together! It looks very harmonious to my eyes.

Gorgeous colours together! You are another one who needs to model for Anthro :)

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

This is gorgeous, Natalie! I love these colours together.

I'm with Deborah that you might want to wear a darker shoe; with your dark hair, especially, for the bookending. But it's lovely as is, too.

I think there is a reason you keep reaching for that jacket. It's so perfect for your style persona.

And I think after a season or two you may find that you can reduce the size of your closet; once you get really good at picking closet "winners" you won't feel badly about wearing the same thing again and again. If that thing is the thing that gives you joy, why NOT wear it?

I love, love, love this color combination! I think it looks polished and interesting.

Yay, this is a great outfit! I don't think all of the colors together are too much at all, considering all of the color blocking going on out there! The raisin skirt is only a few notches away from khaki, it looks perfect with the green, and a navy blazer goes with everything, right? It makes me smile that you keep reaching for that gorgeous jacket. I say go for it! Why save it if you love it so much? It loves you too. And I think you chose the perfect bag for this combo too! You look fab!

i think this is a great combo! This is the jacket I changed my mind on (from nay to yay after seeing better pics) and I'm glad, now that i see how happy you are with it!

I think this one of your better outfits you've posted.

Le sigh. So pretty and spring-like! It's no wonder you reach for that jacket all the time; it's gorgeous and also transcends seasons. I am still in denial that spring is coming, since I'm struggling a bit to resolve color with the new UWP mentality.

Great outfit! Isn't it fun to have a favorite jacket! I'd feel OK about wearing it often!
