WIW 7/3: Bloodletting

I ordered this red necklace and bracelet set from White House Black Market recently, and once I received it, I couldn't get it out of my head that it looks like drops of blood dripping from my neck. I can't help it, with my line of work and all. What do you think of the "vampire" necklace? Perfect to go to the hospital, right? I love themed dressing.

In my milestone birthday thread, I've been mulling over options for my 40th birthday and I think I've become obsessed with a red Chanel flap bag (especially after seeing the pic of Kelly in today's blog post). So, pretend this WHBM purse is a red Chanel flap, OK? I would also need to find the perfect pair of red pumps to substitute for these red ballet flats (but I'm on call, so I'm going with flats). Also the Anne Fontaine blouse had baby spit-up on it, so it looks wet because I had to clean it with a baby wipe. And yes, the blouse is pulling a bit at the bust because of nursing boobs, but I tried the looser fitting Target lace black blouse and it just didn't work with this outfit, I wanted something more fitted on top. As it is, the Soybu skirt is loose (I bought it at the hospital gift shop in a size L when I was pregnant, and it's a stretch waist). And my watch battery died, so no watch.

This outfit was much better in my head than it looks IRL, but I still like the idea of it! And it would be even better with a red Chanel flap!

The title sure got my attention.  I love your outfit but I'm a sucker for black, white & red.  And I love the necklace.  :)

The title of your post had me a little confused. :) But I think the necklace and bracelet look great! I love your outfit. And your red purse.

Pretty necklace! I like the outfit too, even with the qualifiers you have added :)

I am in love with this sentence:
"And yes, the blouse is pulling a bit at the bust because of nursing boobs, but I tried the looser fitting Target lace black blouse and it just didn't work with this outfit, I wanted something more fitted on top".
    Thank you for that!
You look amazing. I am 100% endorsing the red Chanel. I would not buy it black either.

Thanks AM, Kristin, Ceit and Zap! I guess the title is kind of morbid but I'm so used to blood I didn't think about it. ;)

And now I'm thinking of a quote from the old comedy vampire movie by George Hamilton: 'Here's blood in your eye'! as he raises a glass of blood to drink.
You look great, and I am imagining a Chanel bag right with you.

Love the outfit, with this bag & of course would love with the Chanel also. I don't think of blood when I see the jewelry.

You look great! Funny about the necklace. I didn't get it at first and then I was like, ahh! Lol.

Not too bloody.  Very pretty.  I continue to be blown away by your post baby style!  I can def see a gorgeous burgundy chanel flap bag in that oufit...and every outfit really!

As long as you leave your prosthetic fangs at home your patients shouldn't be wigged out by your new, very nice by the way, necklace. Would it be worth moving the buttons on the blouse over a bit? Though it may be more trouble than it's worth once your body recalibrates.

    You look great!

Great job carrying on with high fashion, work, toddlers, and breastfeeding.  I admire you with my entire being.  What an example you are.  Keep up the good work.

Had to read your post after seeing the ghoulsh headline. You are at your matchy, matchy best - love the ghoulish jewellery too.

I would not think of blood, I think red flowers. In any case you look so pretty and I love your hair here. And where have you been hiding those hands? Like a model's.

Do you know Dr. Vincent Lam's book - Bloodletting and Other Dangerous Cures?  :-)

Your title is arresting and so is your style.

I'm not the type to splurge on a bag...at all. However, I'm getting strangely excited about the prospect of you getting a bright red Chanel bag. I think I'll end up living vicariously through you as you search for your perfect purse.

And those stones *do* look like blood drops! Very cool. Wear those with a vampy dress, and you could totally create a sexy, low key, sinister vibe. :-)

    I loved that book, Suz!

Cool necklace and bracelet! I can see blood drops now that you mention it, but I would normally think flowers. They look great with the black and white outfit.

Necklace does NOT look like blood to me!  I love the graphic black and white with pops of red.  One of my favorite color combos ever!

    You look terrific!

I'm not seeing blood- just a pretty necklace!
You look great in your red, black, and white!

This would be a lovely addition, though...

... and other Miraculous Cures? :P

    I think a Chanel bag would be a fab 40 gift :)

BTW: Aren't you a staff attending? What are you doing wearing flats for call? Our staff just round and go home and we take over! :) Tee hee. Use your residents!!!

I don't see blood, and I have a very overactive imagination!  I imagine your skirt doesn't have loops, but I could see a black belt at your waist, if it wouldn't slip around too much.

Your face makes me imagine you were thinking about that Chanel bag.........
