WIW: Peacock skinnies and orange peacoat

I went to Nordstrom to try out some stuff from the Half-Yearly Sale. I found these peacock (or teal, can anyone tell me what the difference is between teal and peacock?) colored skinny jeans at Nordstrom called Blue Essence. For some reason the exact color is not on the website (here's a link to the cobalt color), but the color was listed on the tag as Bermuda blue.

They weren't on sale, but they are $98 so less than premium denim jeans. The rise was high enough to control muffin top and they were super soft and comfortable! I liked them so much I bought a pair of black skinnies as well.

I also found an orange peacoat on sale for $58. It's by Tulle, just like my raspberry blazer. It was in the juniors section. It has a detachable hood. It's a rust color which is my favorite shade of orange.

I loved the colors and naturally just had to pair the two of them together. When I tried the orange coat and peacock jeans together in the fitting room, the SA said "Well I can see that you are bold with your colors!" LOL! The colors make me happy. I wore them yesterday to go out to the Cal Academy with the family. I paired them with my turquoise Forever 21 top and my favorite Fossil bag that matched the orange and teal colors as well. Also you can't see it, but I have on a bronze and orange Forever 21 cuff as well. I wanted to wear my matching rust colored Chie Mihara sandals (as in #3/4), but at the last minute I changed to bronze ballet flats (#2) which was a much better choice for MOTG. The kids are dressed in my favorite Tea Collection kids' clothes. Oh, and DS's shirt is orange and teal to match me!

Comments and suggestions welcome as usual!

What a score! The colors manage to look both soft AND bold, and so beautiful together. The outside shots really let them shine! Good job on the jeans fit (good thing you got the black, too) and that jacket is awesome! That's it. I'm going to start looking over in the junior's department, too.

That marvelous bag seems to go with everything! The kids are great accessories, too (especially the way you've dressed them-- so cute). :)

Very cute - and can you believe you ever second-guessed those Chis? They seem to go with everything you wear! Even though you needed flats for this trip, you can wear them next time. :)

You look fantastic. I'm amused that I tried on that exact same peacoat with a pair of bright blue jeans in the dressing room a few weeks ago but rejected the combination as too bright. The teal really works much better with the orange.

Adorable kids - and look at the little model in training!!!

So inspiring - I vow to add more colour to my wardrobe - I can't believe how well the two bold colours go together ("colour blocking" - learning away!). Great choices!

I have a pair of BEs in red. Be warned they stretch like mad! I got a size down but I should have sized down TWO sizes, even in petites!

Cute, what a fun color combo! The Chie's look good, but I think the bronze flats are a great touch (and add a little bit of shine!) especially for motg. Your purse looks super with this outfit, too!

  • Jonesy replied 12 years ago

I really love this outfit on you, and your kiddies are adorable!

  • Suz replied 12 years ago

SUPER outfit, Natalie! Such gorgeous colours. And your kids are pretty darned cute, too!

I laughed out loud at your question about peacock and teal. I have been scratching my head about the very same thing this past week. My new consignment blazer has bits of (I think) peacock...but I was thinking it was teal...until I SAW some teal stuff in the store...and it wasn't the same. I THINK (if I'm not nuts) that the teal reads more green and the peacock leans towards blue. But an ordinary, non fashion obsessed person might just call them both dark turquoise!

Nice! I have these same cords in rust and I love them...although they do tend to pick up a bit more lint than my Kut from the Kloth cords from last year. But the color is great.

Divine outfit. I really like how you've styled it. Those colours look so great on you. I wouldn't say bold but more subdued saturated colour. So nice!

    Kids are simply adorable...
