Anyone else stocking up? Last time I tried these Target designer collections including Missoni and Jason Wu, a lot of stuff sold out immediately, so I'm ordering a bunch of different prints and sizes and will return whatever doesn't work out. I refuse to fight crowds in-store. I ordered some swimsuits and cover ups for me and DD, so maybe we can do a little matchy matchy at the pool this summer! And some tableware for home. I'm most interested to try those palazzo pants! Of course, this could all be a bust (I ordered stuff from the Altuzarra for Target and returned it all, it was really poor quality and fit), but I love Marimekko prints and I figure beachwear doesn't have to be the best quality.

Thanks for the reminder! I just ordered a few bathing suits and 2 dresses. We will see what I keep!

Thanks for the heads up. Those patterns and colors scream SUMMER -- so fun! I love the beach coverup and tote bags… and the housewares are fabulous.

Today's WSJ has an article that says buyers did not grab everything in a frenzy like they have for other designers Target has sponsored. Things may still be available.

I love Marimekko! No Target here so I will have to enjoy it on you and your kids. Such a fun summer line.

I like Marimekko and several years ago a friend who sells Avon or Mary Kay (I forget, something I don't buy, anyhow) got me a Marimekko tote bag they were selling. It's cute for summer. I shop at Target often and have certainly bought clothes there, but I won't be buying this stuff. I don't want my brand to be obvious! I buy athletic clothes and plain tshirts at Target.

Gorgeous! The homeware makes me feel happy.

We have just had Jean Paul Gaultier for Target. There were some interesting pieces but mostly a bit young for my tastes.

I really like Marimekko prints and was so excited for this line, but sadly none of the ones in the Target collaboration speak to me. Sadly I'm going to sit this one out.

Thanks for the reminder that the line is out.  I like the swimwear and will try to order a few pieces today.  I have a very close friend from Finland and I forgot to ask her what she thought of the prints when I saw her this weekend.

Target doesn't love Canada any more so none for us. :/

I picked up a couple Marimekko for Banana Republic pieces two summers ago and love them both.  The Kivet Print Short is my favourite pair.

I will check it out for sure but I haven't felt like shopping much lately... Transitional seasons!

Do you feel you will get as much wear out of these matched sets as you do with your Kate Spade stuff?

  • AviaMariah replied 8 years ago

I'm tempted to try both the dresses.

This brand doesn't really fit my aesthetic although I do love the colors. However it does give me nostaltic thoughts about how cool it was (and is) to have an art teacher for a Mom. She talked about this brand when it was first available in the Boston area back in the 60's and we probably had some of it at home. She also bought mother and daughter Mondrian dresses which we talk about often but sadly never photographed.  It would have been so cool to post them here!

I saw a girl at a bus stop wearing the blue tunic. Super cute!

I just ordered quite a few pieces online as Marimekko is a favorite of mine and this collection suits my style. I won't be in the US until late June though, so everything I bought will just sit in a box at my brother's house until then. I really wish I could have seen and felt the fabrics - can anyone comment on the quality?

I'll be in Costa Rica in July and bought bikini, rash guard, swim leggings, and a coordinating coverup to use for that trip. (I'm extremely pale and team covered up, so I love love love they offered rash guard and swim leggings.) Just wish the floppy hats hadn't all sold out so fast.

These look perfect for your Summer style, Natalie!  Look forward to seeing your "keep" pile!

I had to make a Target run for cleaning supplies and checked out the collection. Lots of stuff left as is always the case here. Nothing blew me away in terms of quality. It's mostly beachwear. The prints are classic and brought back childhood memories of certain friends whose parents decorated in this style. I did buy a giant beach tote because we are always hauling stuff to the cabin, so I got my fix that way.

Just FYI there is a two week return window for these items. Looks like they learned from past mistakes.

Hope to see pics from everyone who ordered stuff! This stuff is mainly for the pool and beach, so not competing with my Kate Spade florals or other workwear. Even then it's 50/50 whether anything is going to fit right. I ordered S & M because I just never know what my size is. Thanks Una, I realize that it's only 14 days to return, so I need to quickly try on and return! Which tote did you get?

Yay! Love Marimekko, always has. So fun to see Scandinavian design on the other side of the globe.

I got this one - it's huge! Everything is a little more here than elsewhere, although we don't have taxes.
