WIW 1/20: Trinity goes to work (superhero rain boots)

My inner Urban Warrior Princess is having a field day! Continuing to explore the themes of prim suits/dresses combined with kick-@$$ boots and darker monochromatic navy/grey/black colors...

It's raining today for the first time in a long while (it's been a warm dry winter so far) so I jumped at the chance to pull out my shiny waterproof Aquatalia chianti-colored zippered rain boots. DH calls them my Wonder Woman boots. And combined with my fitted ink blue White House Black Market jacket, black pencil skirt with leather trim, black ruffled Kate Spade trench coat (perfect for rainy weather) and grey croc tote and matching navy umbrella, I do feel like a superhero in disguise. I could be Trinity from the Matrix, if she had a day job! That would be such a cool collection--Matrix office wear! Someone needs to produce this line because I would buy it all!

Oh, and I'm really excited. Today after work, we're going to pick up our new car! We're getting a Honda Odyssey, and it's the same color as my rain boots (only a YLF'er would buy a car to match their boots!). It's called Dark Cherry Pearl but it's a deep garnet color, almost purple. Our first time getting a minivan--we are crossing over to the dark side!

White House Black Market ink blue jacket and geometric print shell and black pendant necklace
Classiques Entier black pencil skirt with vertical leather trim
Forever 21 navy polka dot hose (thanks mom!)
Aquatalia Vavoom rain boots in Chianti (I know they're a little wide for my calves, but they were too cool to pass up! And they're rain boots so they can be a little wider, right?)
Kate Spade black ruffled trench coat and grey croc tote (my eyes have adjusted--the red Fossil bag seemed too bright for this outfit, LOL!)

    Congrats on the new car!

  • rae replied 12 years ago

YES! YES! Matrix-inspired workwear, please - oxymoron though that may be, hehe. I would wear this whole outfit to work, head to toe, I love it so much. I love how you have not lost your demure and ladylike core while exploring UWP, Natalie!

*starts desperately searching eBay for a pair like them*

I just love love love that jacket!! The boots are pretty darn cool, too ;)

  • Aida replied 12 years ago

Cute! Fab jacket. I think this outfit would also look great with lace-up boots :D Congrats on the new car!

  • rae replied 12 years ago

Aw, the jacket is yet another Natalie item I cannot find online... Will have to duck into a WHBM the next time I see one. :)

*Passes out from the adrenaline rush* Natalie, this is one of the most stellar outfits I've seen you post! Spectacular attention to both detail and overall vibe. (I feel like a judge on Project Runway...lol)! I love your UWP theme-with-a-ladylike twist you've created, and contrary to what I might have thought about you in darker colours and more urban items, this suits you beautifully. Just...I'm sure it's a K to the power of K!

ETA: Congrats on your new Honda! Sounds like a gorgeous colour choice! :)

Congratulations on entering the world of mini vans. It's pretty exciting to get your first one. :-) You are wearing another fab outfit. The boots are amazing and I love that jacket and top combo.

  • Sylvie replied 12 years ago

Wow. That WHBM jacket looked pretty ordinary as part of a suit but it's really shining in this outfit. You really have a gift for putting clothes together.

  • shipskitty replied 12 years ago

    THAT JACKET! THOSE BOOTS! *squeeeeeeeeee*

  • cjh replied 12 years ago

That ink blue jacket makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Such a cute outfit, Natalie! Love, love, love.

I got a new car this summer. I named it The Enterprise because it looks like a spaceship inside and it makes me feel like Capt Kirk. Plus I'm married to Spock so... ;)

I need those boots in my life - I must say you are on a roll. This is another amazing outfit.
Please tell me you are a Matrix fan - I've dressed as Trinity more than one halloween!

  • goldenpig replied 12 years ago

Thanks guys! Zap, I love Trinity from the Matrix...now that I am exploring UWP I am definitely going to have to study her fashion style more! That's so cool that you dressed up as her for Halloween.

By the way...we got the minivan and it is super fab! Matches my Aquatalia boots! :)

I love how you put this all together. Glad you kept the jacket and added the skirt. Looks like you've got a lot of great outfits waiting to come out with all your fab new purchases.
I've loved those boots since I first saw them way back on the BBB. Had them in my cart for awhile, but never pulled the trigger.

  • Mochi replied 12 years ago

Jacket especially, shell an awful lot, boots obviously...but I love the entirety of this awesome outfit!

I've also wanted to thank you, Natalie, for your precision in identifying the origins of all your clothing items. It's perhaps a bonus for OCD people like me, and also I get frustrated when I see something pretty online and have no idea what it is. Even if the chances of me owning it are non-existent anyway! :-P

OMG that ink jacket is AMAZING! *launching into orbit and flying around the room* Whew! Love the whole outfit but the fit of that jacket is just stellar on you.

Congrats on the (sub)urban assault vehicle. You will love it!

  • Astrid replied 12 years ago

This is just so cool - I love it! The jacket is perfect and I love your boots. Trinity rocks!

I think you will love your new car, my parents never went back after the first minivan. You just can do so many things without having to worry about transportation!

  • goldenpig replied 12 years ago

JJsloane, you're on BBB? What's your username?
