WIW 12/17 Vince Cardigans: Ebony and Ivory

I picked up these two Vince cardigans at the ShopBop Black Friday sale. I couldn't decide which color but I think I'm just going to keep both, as they go well with my two different color palettes (winter black/grey and autumn deep spices). I know I've heard here that waterfall cardigans are passe, but I tried on the straight sided cardigans/jackets and they just looked too rectangular and boxy on me. I think my ladylike style looks better with a bit of ruffle in it. What do you think of this cardigan--is it dated or current or neither? The hem was interesting because it's a lot shorter in the back than in the front. I almost didn't buy it because I thought it looked funny to have your butt exposed. But then I thought maybe it would look too overwhelming to have it long all over. What do you think? Which color/outfit do you prefer--white or black? Makes me think of that song, "Ebony and Ivory"--our music teacher in elementary school used to have us sing that. Also, are the jeans too baggy on me? They're transitional jeans that I bought right after I had the baby. Now they are too loose, but I like the color. Should I buy a more slim fitting pair of jeans, or is baggy still in?

I like this kind of hem because it gives front coverage but allows me to show pocket detail if I want. I can't tell if its the angle but the ivory seems to be a better fit. I'm not in love with this particular cardi but I love this one for you:

Same idea, less ruffle, more money probably though.

I like them both on you.

They are both great, but I think the white one is slightly more awesome on you than the black.

I also like both but I think the white is really flattering on you. I couldn't see how the jeans fit at the waist but think they are fine if you are looking for a looser more casual fit. The gold OTBT booties are awesome. :)

They're both gorgeous, but I think the white has more pop and looks more exciting. I love the way they fall!

I see I have another Shopbop sister on the forum!!!  I too considered these Vince cardigans.  I like them both on you.  And the jeans look good to me, baggy is still very in I think.

I like the ruffle and the white looks nicer on you. I kind of agree with you about the length of the back though - I think it would look better if the fit at the back were a little more snug? Can you try a smaller size maybe? What if you wore a slightly longer inner top? But having said that, I wouldnt still say its a deal breaker - you should still keep the white one (if you have to pick one)

I like the ivory better than the black too. I think the jeans are somewhat baggy, but they're not overly baggy--they look intentionally baggy. And I think that you have a very chic combination of the loose-fitting jeans with the feminine cardigan. Very appealing, IMO!

I didn't know waterfall cardigans are passe.  I still have a few and while I am not sporting them yet this season I don't plan to give them up just yet.  They are more interesting to me than a classic short cardigan.  While I like both cardigans here, I prefer the lighter one.  But I am on a light color roll this season and light colors are catching my eye a lot lately.  For this cardigan, I think it is easier to see the waterfall effect with the lighter color.

You look extremely fashionable in your baggy jeans. I vote they are fabulous.

Both outfits - and cardigans - are fantastic. 11 out of 10. You wear this Pretty RATE casual style very well.

Waterfall cardigans are passe? Say it ain't so, say it ain't so!

I actually love this style of cardigan and have a blue one in my wardrobe. These are both great on you, but I have to admit that as I was flipping through the pics I was thinking pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, and then wow when I got to the picture of you in the white version. The jeans are definitely looser than what I would wear, but I so rarely see you in jeans that I don't know if it's what "you" would wear. If so, then I say wear away :-)

I hope these are still current because I love the style! And they look really soft and luxurious. Also love the bronze boots!

I like them both!  I like the black one just as much as the other, but I've been on a black kick lately so take that for what it's worth.

Ooooh, Shopbop is so dangerous - I think I like them both!

I love the ivory version.  The details show up better on you and it looks great.

The ivory paired with the gold boots is so nice! I think the jeans still work.

You are really good at analyzing your own style. Yes, I thought waterfall cardis were dated but with your analysis of your lady like and girly style in mind, they look very nice on you. And I can imagine not as elegant if they were straight type.
