WIW 2/12: Valentine's hearts and a big surprise

If there's something I love almost as much as matchy matchy it's theme dressing. I was volunteering for DD's Valentine's Day party in her class. So I had to use my burgundy patent heart satchel and my heart necklace! And wore my burgundy patent boots to match. I wore a Missoni scarf...do you remember the Missoni turquoise poncho? I loved it so much I got the purple Missoni poncho too, but then I realized it would be too much to have two Missoni ponchos so I exchanged the purple poncho for the purple scarf instead. I brought mugs for the kids to paint as the party craft. It turned out super cute!

OK and now for the big surprise...I went to get my hair cut and my stylist wanted to do something new and lighter with my hair for spring...she convinced me to let her cut my hair short! What do you think? I'm kind of in shock! DH always likes my hair long. I can always grow it out, but it's kind of fun to change things up once in a while!

Hair is gorgeous!  And it may feel short, but it still has plenty of length.  Did she show you how to style it yourself?

And love the outfit too.  More MMG (Matchy-Matchy Goodness!).

  • goldenpig replied 8 years ago

She blow dried it with a round brush. I am scared! I never have time to blow dry or style my hair in the mornings so I'm worried it's going to look terrible! I need tips from you, Una. I was kind of going for your edgy cut, but I don't think it came out quite right!

I am really bad with hair tips!  I wash mine every three days, let it air dry if I have time, and then flat iron the ends.  That's really it.  No product other than that Chi spray for flatirons.  I hate when my hair flips in all directions so my main goal is to get it to be symmetrical.

You also need to give it a week or two to recover from being cut.  Experiment and have fun!

Time for my hair to recover or me to recover from the shock?! LOL!

I think you look adorable and hip! (Is hip even a thing anymore?) Your hair looks long to me. I bet that the less you do to it, the more it will fall into place on it's own.

I LOVE THE NEW 'DO. Killer to the power of Killer.

    (And it's still long hair!)

Your cut is really cute. I love the burgundy bag.

    The haircut looks great!

I LOVE the hair.  It looks very modern and sophisticated.

Tell me about the bangs.  Did you have bangs before (pushed to the side)?  Are these new?  I really like how the bangs frame your face.

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

I was expecting short. Your hair is not short. I love the new do. It still looks feminine but better. Una is right. It takes a week or so for the hair to get trained which way to lie and move.

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

And did you see this clutch?

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 8 years ago

I love the new haircut! It looks very much your style and it flatters your face beautifully. The bangs are super cool looking.
Great outfit, too. The Valentine's Day heart theme is so fun for the occasion, and the burgundies are gorgeous on you.

The fish clutch is adorable Angie! Sterling is right, it would be perfect with my koi blouse. Very tempting, but I think I need to stay strong and resist...you will see why when you see my new bag...

Funny that you all think my hair is still long! I'm just so used to my long hair that feel like I've gotten a pixie cut, LOL!

  • dashielle (Ann) replied 8 years ago

Very modern and I second Angie's comment (third, fourth?) the above comments. Killer x 10^killer!

  • Jaime replied 8 years ago

Agree that it is still long and looks fantastic. What did DH say?

  • Karie replied 8 years ago

Your new hairstyle is beautiful! You've also posted another great outfit. The boots and the purse look like they match perfectly.

  • goldenpig replied 8 years ago

DH was kind of quiet. I think we've been married long enough now he knows by now not to criticize! LOL!

  • annagybe replied 8 years ago

    Hair is seriously great!

I love your new hair cut. It looks very fresh and healthy. I wear my hair very short now but I enjoyed it when it was the length of your new cut -- it was versatile and had a lot of movement. Sometimes an all-one-long-length cut evolves into a look that doesn't have much style -- one ends up wearing it in a ponytail or just hanging loose. Your hair is thick and beautiful and this new cut is flattering. It's sort of an exclamation point on your new overall look. Well done.

LOVE the cut. It is medium length to my eye. DD is too cute.

I love the hair cut. It's quite edgy. It's not short at all. I also really like that bag. .what a great colour

  • Helen11 replied 8 years ago

Love your haircut. It will feel lighter for spring, I'm sure. And your Valentine outfit is great. That scarf!

  • El Cee replied 8 years ago

I love your new hair style. It is so soft and feminine. And your hair has such a gorgeous, healthy shine. Your outfit is fabulous too. I like how you combined color, texture and shine.

Gorgeous hair and gorgeous outfit! I adore all the rich purple/aubergine tones.

  • kkards replied 8 years ago

love the new hair….and you had me at matchy matchy!

I love your hair--and your subtle heart wardrobe touches. I agree with Una, it takes a couple of washes for a new cut to settle in. This one looks gorgeous on you at day 1, though!
