WIW 9/19: Pregnant in print-mixing plums and faux fur for fall

Hahaha sorry, I could not resist the corny title! I'm a sucker for alliterations! I know I sound like a broken record, but I'm so excited every time I can still squeeze into my non-maternity dresses! This one is pushing it a little--the fabric isn't stretchy so the bump makes this normally demure midi dress kind of sexy in a body-con way. When I first got this dress last fall I thought I was going to return it because I was worried it looked a little too frumpy, but Angie raved about it when I posted so I had to keep. If Angie can channel the 80's today in her fluorescent neon brights, then I'm going to represent the 90's with this ditsy floral prairie dress and booties! And I'm so happy to finally be bringing out my autumn colors and coats! Fall is here!

This outfit is pretty ALGO with the tweedy faux fur collar "old lady" coat and triple print mixing (coat, dress and bag) but hope you like it anyways!

Tiny purple tweed coat with faux fur collar from Anthro
Vero Moda plum floral midi dress from ASOS
Mia Nanette brown lace up booties
Fossil velvet floral satchel
Forever 21 brown double buckle belt

I used to always get excited when I could fit into a non-maternity outfit while pregnant. You look great. I love the dress with the bag and boots. The jacket is a little over the top for me, personally.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Well, I, for one, just love it! Look at you in your favourite autumn tones! And look at those cute boots! I like the mix of textures, too.

Okay - here is my question. Will these dresses of yours just go back to being able to fit your regular sized self afterwards? How are they so magically accommodating? It amazes me!

Eep! The belt and the boots and the bump (how's that for some alliteration?) are too cool. You look like a celeb rockin the fur collar.

  • rachylou replied 11 years ago

The dress is awesome! The belt is awesome! The whole outfit is kinda rocker without actually going there.

    When is baby due?

I just love these fall tones and textures on you GP, they are so rich and yummy looking! And there's the favorite Fossil bag (at least you'll be able to wear *that* all though out your pregnancy). I love that belt too, it has so much interest. You look terrific!

You are always adorable but especially so now with your baby bump.

This is another fabulous outfit Natalie - do you ever get sick of looking so darned wonderful?

  • Jonesy replied 11 years ago

How Fall Fabulous! I love these colors on you, and your li'l bump looks too cute.

  • sarah replied 11 years ago

You look so great, Natalie - how I wish I'd celebrated my bump back in the day - times have changed so much in six years - for the better! Love the plum color.

  • Carole replied 11 years ago

You are so cute! I love that you are still having so much fun with fashion, such a great outfit!

  • Scarlet replied 11 years ago

The colors! The patterns! The textures! Divine!

Thanks so much everyone for the compliments! I felt really great in this outfit today, which is why it deserved its own thread :)

KathyL, I agree the coat is a bit over the top! (It's definitely a DH eyeball-roller coat so he would agree). The collar is actually detachable, so if I ever get sick of it I can remove it and tone down the coat, but for right now I love the drama of the giant fur collar.

Suz, good question. I hope my clothes still will fit post-pregnancy! I don't think the bump stretches the clothes out permanently. I too am amazed at how much of my wardrobe I can still fit into. At least I know I'll have room for my post-partum belly, so there's no rush to lose the weight immediately. Although the post-baby tummy flab is definitely not going to look as cute as the bump so I'll probably have to revert to my first trimester hide the bump tricks.

Rae, thanks for playing along with the alliteration!

Rachylou, the baby is due in early March. So I still have a long way to go--six months left.

Claire, I know, the Fossil bag is my all time favorite! And I just love fall colors.

Shannon, you are too sweet. Thanks for the compliment. I never get tired of feeling fab in my clothes. I am just worried that one day I will wake up and be too big to fit into my regular clothes and that I won't feel fab enough to post my old maternity clothes. Or that I'll post the maternity clothes and just hear crickets chirping instead of compliments!

Thanks Jonesy, Carole and Scarlet! This outfit was a lot of fun. I went out tonight for a mom's night out get together, and when I was in the bathroom a random woman came up and said, "I have that coat! I've never seen anyone else wearing it!" Too funny. Too bad she wasn't wearing it too!

Oh, and I found the thread last March where I posted the K/R:

Looks like Angie called the dress killer, which really surprised me! That was my most unexpected K rating, because I thought it was too frumpy looking and almost got rid of the dress. But now I really like it, and this pairing with the purple tweed jacket and Fossil floral bag is my favorite combo!

Love this! It has a retro funky and arty vibe. So advanced! So confident! You should be in a mommy magazine spread.
