WIW Halloween 2013: A Space Odyssey

Thought I'd share our Halloween pics!

1-3. What I wore to work on Halloween. Orange and black, kitty cats and dead branches. Still theme-y without being in costume.

4 & 6. Halloween 2010. DH made his own rocket booster/space shuttle costume. DD was an alien and DS1 and I were astronauts.

5 & 7. Halloween 2013. This time DH made his own astronaut costume by spray painting a jumpsuit and garden gloves, sewing on NASA and A.B. Shepard patches, and finding a real vintage Russian fighter pilot helmet on eBay. DS2 was able to use DS1's baby astronaut suit, DS1 was Buzz Lightyear, and thankfully DD and I still fit into our costumes!

8-13. More fun pics.
14-17. This picture of 3.5 year old DS1 as Buzz Lightyear reminds me of my brother when he was Buzz at age 4. That was a poignant time because our dad had just passed away from cancer a couple weeks earlier. Life comes full circle...pics of me with my brother in 1996 and now me with my three children in 2013. I wish my dad was here to see all of his grandchildren!

    Good grief. You win the Family Halloween Costume prize of the year. Your baby astronaut is too cute for words. But then the entire family is absolutely adorable. You and hubs are a real sport. 

    Life does come full circle, Natalie. Special memories like that are precious and meaningful. I hope you showed your little brother these pics.

    Funnily enough, I was on the subway this Halloween and I saw a guy dressed up in a NASA astronaut costume who looked quite a bit like your DH!  Everyone wanted to take pictures with this guy, but your DH's costume is better!

    GREAT costumes and very beautiful family!  I was touched by your story and I am very sorry you lost your Dad.  I think our loved ones see the good moments.  My sister said this to me with such conviction when I was sad about my Mom missing out on the grandchildren and it comforted me.

    I'm sorry about losing your dad.  Did you show the pics of DS1 to your brother?

    Wow, you have such a beautiful family! Your baby is delicious. I am blown away by these costumes in their own right, and especially considering you have 3 kids and 2 busy careers.

    Oh my goodness, Natalie, these pictures are amazing!  You all have such awesome Halloween spirit!  Fun!  I'm jealous of how elaborate some of your costumes have been - especially DH's!  Ha - wow!  

    I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad - this family legacy would definitely make him proud. :)

    What a glorious family memory in these pictures!  You really know how to make halloween festive and fun!  You all look fan-tabulous, and the picture of you and your brother is especially touching.  Your Dad would be proud of your whole family!
