WIW Neutrals Day 5: WHBM pindot suit & fish bow pumps (ETA more pics)

I just wore this suit last week, but it seemed like a perfect way to finish off the neutral challenge week, bookending the WHBM outfit I wore on Monday. Another look copied straight from the catalog! But the spectator pumps they had in the catalog were super high, so I thought of the perfect alternative--the All Black Fish Bow pumps that Angie recommended! Now I can be shoe twins with Shannon! (and I think maybe Sona?)

The shoes definitely run small--I'm normally a size 7-7.5 and the 8 fit best (I also bought a 7.5 to compare but it was too small). But it's a size 38, which is the same size as my Dansko clogs (my Chie Mihara sandals are a 37.5). So it runs 1/2-1 size large based on the American size, but relatively true to size if you know your European size. The shoes are really comfortable--low heel and roomy toe box--and I think it'll go well with my retro ladylike style (which is very similar to Shannon too)! Great pick Angie!

Oh, and another DD funny--she saw me putting on my skirt and said "Mommy, you need some pants to go with your skirt" (because I always have her wear leggings under her skirts). I said "No, I'm just wearing the skirt." And she said, "But then when you twirl, everyone will see your underwear!" Daughters are so much fun! :)

White House Black Market Pindot jacket and skirt--black with cream mini-polka dots
WHBM cream satin shell and spectator belt
Old black necklace
All Black Fish bow pumps
Fossil Vintage Re-issue black/silver/taupe chevron stripe satchel (I was in a rush and didn't have time to take pics with the purse but used the same one from yesterday).

ETA: More pics added to show collar and skirt details.

Waving to my shoe twin!!! Don't you love them Natalie? And yes, they totally go with our vintage type looks. I also had to size up - I normally wear a 6 and got a 7 and they fit perfectly.

They look wonderful with this pindot suit - a very 1940's chich lady outfit! Love it from head to fishbow toe!

I seriously thought this said "FISH BOWL" pumps. I was ready to see plexiglass pumps with FISH inside. :( BOO.

I love the way your obi plays off your elegant Fossil Bag. That is an amazing bag, isn't it. *dreamy sigh* I love mine sooo much.

This is such a great outfit. I love the tiny pindots, the fit of the suit, and the lapels on the jacket - very ladylike, but interesting, too. And where did the shoes come from again? I'm new, so I must have missed the post on the bow pumps. All in all, a great end tothe week!

Wow, these shoes are fabulous! I think I hadn't seen them upclose in Shannon's posts, and I just love them!

They make your outfit so interesting!

I can't figure out the belt; is the buckle in the back?

Gorgeous jacket - it is so ladylike! I also love your bag :)

You look fantastic! Love the shoes and the suit!

  • Sunita replied 12 years ago

That's an amazing suit, and you look really lovely in it!

  • jayne replied 12 years ago

That is so nice. You truly represent ladylike. Do you ever feel tempted by things not in your 'style'? You are lovely consistent!

  • DragonflyJane replied 12 years ago

    Seriously swooning over those shoes!

  • Meredith1953 replied 12 years ago

Just beautiful! The shoes are darling too and look great with that suit!

  • Beth Ann replied 12 years ago

My first thought was....."Can I have that suit?" So ladylike and retro without looking costumey. Love the low heel in the shoe -- it's hard to find ladylike lower heels that aren't skinny kitten heels, which aren't so good for me. Brava!

Shannon--high five shoe and style twin!

Lyn--found some fish bowl pumps for you! Hopefully #2 is not for real! Go Team Fossil!

Jilly--Angie originally posted about these pumps in this post:

Isis--there are four snaps in the back to hold the belt closed. The back half is elastic.

jayne--I get tempted to do "non-me" looks all the time, especially when I see other YLF'ers in their fab looks! And I love experimenting. But as Una pointed out, no matter what I do it always seems to come out ladylike. I tried a menswear look on Tuesday and I felt so weird in it, like it was so masculine, but Una and others said it didn't look masculine to them at all.

BethAnn--the jacket is still available at WHBM, on sale for $80:

And the skirt is available too on sale for $40 although it looks like the only size available online is 16. So you might have to call around to the stores to find the skirt.

Kirti, Debbie, Sunita, DragonflyJane, Meridith1953--thanks for the compliments!

I posted a few more pics to show the details of the ruffle collar and the skirt and to show the purse with the outfit. The collar stands up in the back--at first I thought there was something wrong and kept trying to flatten it down, but now that I look at the website it looks like it's supposed to stick up in the back like that--a bit Victorian. And the back of the skirt has a little flirty kickout. With the peplum, ruffles and collar, this suit feels very 40's meets steampunk to me--so fun to find a suit that feels like me!

Gorgeous! I have those shoes bookmarked; I might just have to pull the trigger.

That outfit looks so pretty on you -- but since I love ladylike things, I am totally biased. :)
