Autumn color palette people--what colors for spring/summer?

I think I am a Deep Autumn--I look best in muted but saturated deep colors like rust orange, mustard, eggplant, teal and olive green as well as classic neutrals like black, white, red, navy and cream. I had a field day dressing for fall and winter--so many lovely choices in my color palette! But now I'm scratching my head wondering how to dress for spring and summer. What colors should I be wearing--should I just continue wearing the autumn colors in T shirts and shorts and sun dresses, or should I be trying "spring" colors? I love bright orange, but I just don't think I'm going to look good in mint green or pale pastels or neon brights.

I do classic neutrals in the summer; I hate pastel bright spring colours too ... but will be following this thread to see suggestions :D

Man; we do it like twins.

I just wear the same colors - possibly less black than in winter, but otherwise basically the same palette. I guess some of my skirts and dresses have a slightly brighter color range, but it's still very saturated and non-pastel. My "light summer neutral" is bare arms and legs!

Like Diana, I wear the same colors in the summer. It can be a challenge to find winter colors in summer clothes but it can be done.

I wear the same colours, too, just in cooler fabrications and styles (e.g. thinner jersey and shorts vs. wool and tights). Used to try to switch to "spring" colors, and it was a disaster every year. Just because the seasons change around you, doesn't mean *your* season has to change. The exception would be if you get very tan in summer and more pale in winter, or if your hair lightens significantly in the summer.

I have a couple of light-weight skirts and cardigans that are light turquoise and white. They get to come out and play in the Spring/Summer; my heavy black pants get stored away - so my mostly deep blue & green wardrobe does lighten up a little.

I think it will be harder for you to find Deep Autumn colors in lightweight fabrics, but if you can find sundresses in eggplant & mustard, I know you will give them the love they deserve.

I actually love black for summer- as well as white and cream with denim, navy, and olive.

I love black for summer too. The deeper colors are unexpected but seem to work, especially with a bit of white in the outfit and bare skin to keep it from being heavy.

Boy, you've put your finger on something here. Spring is anything but mellow. It's short, erratic and violent here. I hate it. As opposed to end of summer building to winter, which is more reliably paced.

In spring you have some delicate natural color in the landscape: fragile blossoms. And you have riotously colored bulbs - tulips! - and strong spring green shoots pushing up.

Can you wear your greens, your yellow, some brown and some white thrown into the
mix in a print, say, or does that harsh your mellow?

Gold yellow and lilac or mauve (with some depth), vibrant taupe (with the least possible amount of grey in it),

    Warm beige, forest green, young-leaf yellow green;

Orange, red and pink worn together

    Salmon pink,

    Cream,

    Black and white.

    First post - hi everyone!

Another dark autumn here ( I think), and it seems like it's actually easier to find clothes in good colors for me in the summer than in the spring, somehow. In the summer, I can usually find colors like raspberry, turquoise, grass green, etc. that almost have a sun-warmed cast to them and usually work pretty well, especially with tanned skin. In the spring, though, it seems like everything is either pastels, beiges, or really cool, bright, clear colors. Does anyone else notice this?

I'm another one who also keeps wearing black and dark neutrals in the warm months, plus burgundy/teal/eggplant whenever I can find them.

I'm with everyone else: I dislike the typical spring pastels and never buy/wear any of them. I just stick with my normal palette and add bright, playful accessories into the mix, and more white, I'd say.

Same here...I tend to wear the same items and colors in Fall, Winter, and Spring by treating them as one really l..o..n..g season! I just layer up or use heavier materials in the Winter.

Tried buying pastels once and hated the look on me. I still have one mint green jacket left...I'll have a post a pic to see if I should keep it or send it on its way to another owner! :-)

If I stray from colors that don't harmonize with my skin/hair/eye colors, I feel my energy is being sapped away or I feel plain uncomfortable. For example, if I wear summer shades like pale pastels or what I call Eileen Fisher/J Jill muted shades that melt into my skin tones, I feel dead. If I wear autumnal shades like gold and olive, esp. in a tweed or rustic fabrication, I feel weighed down. If I wear super vivid dramatic jewel tones, I feel like they are walking away with me. When I wear *my* colors, I feel calm or energized, depending upon which end of the palette I choose. Does anyone else feel that way?

GP, how about sheets, towels, or napkins in mint green or pale pastels?
