WIW 12/8 minimalist palette: Vince tri colorblock turtleneck

This sweater is one of Angie's warm sweater picks--she has one in a different colorway.
This is not my typical color palette or silhouette, but I like the idea of exploring some outfits with fewer and more subdued colors. Note I didn't say limiting myself to these colors...I still love bright and cheery colors and color and pattern mixing. I would feel drab if I restricted myself to solid grey and black all the time. But sometimes calm and minimalist has its virtues, especially when things get hectic! I feel inspired by Ironkurtin and Ceit in this outfit! (And Angie too, of course!). It was perfect for taking the kids out to a dance party--I even did the limbo with the baby! DS1 was wrapped up in toilet paper to make a snowman. So fun!

J Brand skinnies
Betsey Johnson cream puffer (it was cold that day)

I like this outfit a lot Natalie. The colour palette is very attractive to me. I like that you are trying different things and there is an ease to this look. You and colour do belong together tho so I agree that I couldn't ever see you limiting your colour palette as some of us have chosen to do:)

Love this outfit on you.  You look warm, elegant, relaxed but refined.  Love the cons with your beautiful bag.  Just like a warm hug!!  PS the littles are just darling!!  Miss that age - heaves big sigh!!  Enjoy every moment!!

The party pictures are too cute - love the sweater on you too!

This looks great, simple and elegant (and your kiddos are adorable).  But I'm with you on the color too.  It's nice to have options!

Very nice look. The way the sweater is color blocked with light lower sleeves seems to add similar structure to what 3/4 sleeves or scrunching would do.

Love the look on you.....AND seeing it in action with your adorable littles!

I like this a lot on you, Natalie. It's fun to see you in a more minimalist look just for variety!
How did the size run on that sweater? I usually go down a size in Vince, but some reviews on that one said it was more TTS.

Your kids are as adorable as ever!

So good to see you, Natalie!  I love the way you have fun with your kids.  Of course you needed calm when you were going to a Dance Party!

Thanks for sharing the Vince sweater.  It's rich and chic and understated and looks fab on you.

I love this look for a mommy On The Floor.  You probably are the cutest mom in your circle, because you even THINK about style.  I am glad you are taking care of yourself.  Your kids are so darn adorable.

Love that sweater with the Cons. Never saw the limbo look so wholesome, and what a gorgeous baby!

    Great sweater!

Lovely sweater.  You wear minimal as easily as maximal, a real style chameleon!

Thanks Deborah, gryffin, Shevia, MuseumGal, Eliza, NDMom, Parsley, Sara L, Beth Ann, Parkmommychic, Alasse, Karymk, Amy K, Ceit and Lisa! I was worried you wouldn't think it was "me" enough. No pattern, no color and I didn't even wear any jewelry with it! It's good to change things up a bit though! Marcy, I think the sweater runs true to size--definitely not oversized. I got a size S and I normally wear size 6 on top. I think the size chart recommended S for 4-6. I initially tried the black color but it didn't seem to have enough contrast between the colorblocks--it looked like it was an all black sweater. This one has more contrast with the grey and the cream sleeves. The party was a lot of fun--the kids loved dancing and playing games!

Love this sweater,if I could wear turtlenecks, I'd order it ASAP.
You could always mix this up with some printed/ patterned pants

Oh I love this on you!  Such a flattering silhouette!  And, I like the more subdued colors/less going on look too.  Sometimes when my life is at it's most hectic I gravitate towards simple, minimal outfits - it just seems to help balance out the hecticness!

ADORE this sweater on you! The cream arms are very fresh. So cute how everyone is having a great time. Your littlest one is growing fast!

  • Charmian replied 10 years ago

I adore this sweater in abstract (but couldn't make it work on my t-rex arms), but I love it even more on you!  Lovely drape.

I don't think the palette is boring; if anything, it makes your gorgeous purse stand out all the more.

OMG, with the white arms you mimic your adorable kitty. So cute. The sweater looks great on you as well, but kitty had those markings first!
