WIW 7/16: Red dress again, having fun changing out accessories

Thought I'd wear my favorite little red dress again, as Vicki had mentioned she had a similar red dress that she found at TJ Maxx as well (can't wait to see your pics!). I was going to just do the leopard shoes and necklace again since I liked that combo when I wore it last month, but then I thought, why not try something a little different. Then I can post it as a WIW! LOL!

4. Here is the original post in March with black shoes and pendant:

5. Then in June with leopard accesories:

1-3. This time I tried it with a blue (light and dark blue) necklace from Banana Republic. I thought the chunky pieces reminded me of the blue dots on the peacock feathers, so I matched it with the Aldo peacock clutch. And I wore cognac shoes to match the wood color of the bag handle. I considered wearing my blue snake heels but the stiletto heels feel too high and I didn't want to trip, so I wore the sturdier heels.

Adrianna Papell red draped jersey dress
Banana Republic blue necklace
Aldo peacock clutch
Fossil cognac pumps

Which version do you like the best? Any other color schemes to try? Even though the dress is fairly simple and solid, it fits well and I love the bright red color. Also shows the power of the accessories to change things up and make the outfit more special.

Another great styling option, Natalie! I really like the accessorizing this time around, less matchy (which I know you love :) ). I think if you're leaving the dress as the focal point like this, you can really go with any color for the accessories: neon, white, yellow, pink, red, silver, you name it.

I like the blue necklace and purse with the red dress. I think both purses will work well with the dress as well. Have you tried black accessories? I think a cute black necklace would look great.

I like the first two combinations (the order in the photos here). Very creative to think of matching the necklace with the purse.

What a great dress! LOVE this on you! Great accessorizing too.

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

This dress is perfection on you! I vote for the first version.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

    Pretty times two!

Ooh; I love that dress in red! I tried it on in a peachy-pink too, but I didn't think it would be that versatile - but you're definitely proving me wrong!

You have a lovely bag collection; is that a fossil in #4 I see? :)

What a beauty! And a versatile dress too :-)

In my mind dress is always party wear.. I know it sounds stupid but then somehow you always manage to show a way how to incorporate it day to day life :)

This dress is perfection no matter which version, not much of a help, I know, sorry:-))
(Oh, and Queen Mum is back! glad to see You:-))

Lovely says it all. That dress is beautiful for you and I really like the blue necklace with it. It has substance but is still almost delicate. Very pretty.

I also love the color. On my monitor it looks like a deep pinky red.

Like hem all but love 1-3

  • replied 11 years ago

I like that dress! As you've proven, you can do a lot with red.

  • Scarlet replied 11 years ago

Actually I like this combo the best. The blue makes a great contrast and it's interesting how the necklace plays off the bag.

  • cheryl replied 11 years ago

So pretty! I like all of the combo's.

  • Kari replied 11 years ago

Beautiful, but I'm especially fond of the combination with the blue necklace and peacock bag. That is SO incredibly stunning.

(Erm, give me a nudge if you ever get tired of that clutch, OK? Wow!)

    Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the color suggestions Aida! Although I have a lot of handbags, my jewelry collection is a bit sparse and not much in the way of colors. I think it'd be fun with neon if I had any.

Kristin, thanks, I did pair it with my favorite black necklace in #4. I wear that necklace all the time, it seems to flatter my neck shape since I wear a lot of V necklines.

Good eye, lyn*, fellow Fossil fan. Yes, that is a Fossil satchel in #4! I think peachy-pink would be a great color for you!

Ramya, I used to think the same and would always wear trousers to work. Now I'm the total opposite, I love to wear dresses and skirts all the time and rarely wear trousers anymore! You should give dresses a try! They're so easy--just pull on and go!

Aw Kari, I think that peacock clutch would be perfect to go with your style, especially your emerald green and black dress! I bought it off the Aldo website (it was one of Angie's picks) and it was on sale for $13.99 if you can believe it! Unfortunately I just checked and it looks like it's gone now. :( Hmm, maybe we could arrange a rotating handbag swap...I'd love to get my hands on your mustard and cobalt Kate Spade bags! ;)

And thanks JR, QueenMum (great to have you back Kim!), BethAnn, Shannon, Manidipa, Lyn67, Dianthus, Kiwichick, Ruth, Scarlet and Cheryl!
